Overcharged me for a basic exam and scans that were not necessary; then tried to bill my insurance for the portion I already paid for, which caused them to deny everything, then sent me the bill. Guy running the scans was also clueless when I asked why they needed scans; probably because I did not need them.

I was referred to Dr. Hovey's office by Timber Dental, which I've been with for 5 years, to complete a periodontal treatment. I'm appreciative of their time and effort, but my overall experience was disappointing due to miscommunication and misalignment upfront. Unfortunately, I had to pay an additional $350 from my initial quote. Before starting the procedure, I received a an original quote and a revised one the next day via email to "optimize my dental insurance." After agreeing and attending two appointments, they mailed a statement saying I owed $1K because I reached the maximum allowance for the type of service and my insurance didn't cover two procedures. I'm thinking why wasn't this flagged when they reviewed my insurance information to build my plan? I told them I would pay the initial plan, which I did, and to cancel the remaining appointments. They called multiple times and sent letters saying I owed them money or else I would be delinquent. I called my insurance and they were able to tell me the dates of service that wasn't covered. They told me to ask them why it wasn't flagged? I went to their office and they said, it's the insurance fault. Long story short, I paid the additional $350 just to be done with it. I thought they would have done the right thing and covered the charge because there was clear misinformation. However, they did not. So nearly $1K gone for 2 appointments and I didn't complete my treatment.

I had a really lovely experience (if such a thing exists in the world of dental procedures....). I had what I believe was a relatively simple procedure completed and while I can't speak for the follow up yet, Dr. Corning and every member of the staff I interacted with were very welcoming, professional, and kind. I felt that everything, including the total cost, and aftercare was explained thoroughly. While the procedure was happening, every step was explained so that I understood exactly what was happening, which in my experience just doesn't happen enough in medical care. Who needs TVs in a dental office if you've got such an interactive team working with you!

I've had the best experiences here. The office and people are really nice, and they use top-of-the line equipment. I had a surgical procedure followed by checkups and three cleanings. My surgeon, Dr. Corning, is a gem and I adored the hygienist, Lynn. Her technique is impeccable , she's knowledgeable and kind. I wish I could go there for all my cleanings!

Dr. Lwo is very nice, responsible and professional. Most of the staff are pleasant to work with, very efficient with the process. Dr. Akimoto has an arrogant mannerism, constantly needs to be the authority and very nitpicking with the nurse. Definitely recommend seeing Dr. Lwo instead.

Dr. Hovey was my oral surgeon for a tooth extraction and a dental implant. He and his team are professional, efficient, skilled and use technology well. I experienced minimal pain, swelling and bruising - all of which I attribute to their skill. I highly recommend them if you need this kind of work done.

Dr. Hovey and his team, medical and administrative have been taken care of my gums for several years now. I had a couple of LANAP procedures which dramatically improved the health of my gums. Dr. Hovey's service also include quarterly professional cleaning. I have had the pleasure to work with Alene. She is very thorough, professional and always concerned about that I feel comfortable during the cleaning session. She points areas I need to pay attention to when brushing or flossing at home. Alene double-checks her work several times before letting me go home. She is also very personable and asks about how I am doing as I recently lost my wife to cancer. While dental cleaning is not my favorite medical procedure, the professional and friendly way it is done makes it a non-event for me, thank you Alene.

Life-changingly-gifted Dr. Hovey was the best thing that has ever happened to my mouth since teeth. Not only did Dr. Hovey install implants, perfectly, he diagnosed and FIXED a hung-up piece of cheek flesh that was preventing the right side of my face from fully smiling. I now smile deep into my back teeth....that's how happy I am now. I smile more and this has led to exponential life improvements. None of this would have happened if it not for one Lawrence Hovey. I still think about how awesome he is 4 years later.

Get a second opinion. This office was extremely professional, knowledgeable and clean but in the end I was better served by an equally professional but warmer dentist and professional staff in the Lloyd Center area for half the price. The other dentist let my extraction area heal so that a bone graft (and related expense) was unnecessary. I felt much less like a number and more like a human in the latter's care. This place was highly recommended by a dentist I trust.. and it's fine if you don't want to question authority or cost.

5 Star Excellence -- NW Periodontics and Dental Implants I am fortunate to have one of the best, highly acclaimed, dentists in Oregon. When it was determined that I was going to need some bone grafts and dental implants, he did not hesitate a moment, to refer me to who he considered to be the best oral surgeon in Oregon--Dr Lawrence Hovey. Since that time I have had several bone grafts and three dental implants performed by Dr Hovey and I have nothing but the highest praise for every single aspect of my treatment and experience with Dr Hovey himself, and his skilled and attentive assistants and office personnel. Clearly, Dr Hovey is committed to the attainment of the highest possible standards of excellence by himself and his wonderful staff. If you need oral surgery, dental implants and/ or periodontal work, go to the BEST, go to Dr Lawrence Hovey! You will be VERY glad you did!! Mark Remsing

Dr. Hovey and Gail and the rest of his staff are the absolute BEST!! I would give him and his staff 10 stars if I could. Dr. Hovey did a tissue graft on one of my teeth because I had a partially exposed root. He numbed up the correct area (no, that was not fun), but in a couple minutes the area was totally numb. He and one of his team went to work, and I followed their post-op instructions to the T, had absolutely no complications and my gum area where the graft is looks perfect; I now have my gumline back to what it looked like when I was a teenager. Dr. Hovey and his staff are Topnotch!!!
