Despite being uncomfortable, dry mouth alone is not a severe issue as long as it is not persistent. If it is, it can lead to various long-term health issues, ranging from irritating to dangerous. Someone who suffers from chronic dry mouth will likely experience mouth sores, splits at the corners of the mouth, cracked lips, increased plaque buildup & a greater risk of tooth decay & gum disease. You might even start to have nutrition issues, because the lack of saliva makes it more difficult to break down food when you eat.
Even if your dry mouth does not seem to be persistent, it is important to stay on top of treating it. The good news is that treatment is simple for most cases of dry mouth. Some people might recommend sucking on an ice cube or sugarless hard candy, but this can actually damage your teeth, so dont do it! You can also purchase nonprescription saliva substitutes over the counter to reduce your current issues.
If you use tobacco or drink alcohol, cut back on those or find a way to quit. Even if you dont think smoking or drinking is the root cause, those activities can irritate a dry mouth, so you should limit or stop them entirely. Plus, theyre just bad for you!
The best treatment for dry mouth always depends on the specific cause, so if home remedies or over-the-counter solutions dont prevent your dry mouth, it can indicate a more serious underlying health issue. In serious cases it is best to visit a physician or dentist who can work with you to figure out the root cause of your dry mouth & help you treat it.

Highly recommend this dental office!! Dr Rodriguez, Dr Calvo, hygienists and staffs are very friendly, knowledgeable and extremely professional. They have late and weekends hours. Great dental experience overall!! A++

Allow me to start by saying thanks from the bottom of my afraid little heart NWI Dental Care! I've never had a tooth extraction and was scared to death! All of the staff from the receptionist on up did everything they could to reassure me and make sure I was comfortable, and for that I am grateful. Didn't feel a thing! Found my new dentist home... thanks guys

Seriously one of the most Professional Dentist Offices that I have been to. Great staff and great service! I had a chipped tooth and they made a great repair and also did a very thorough cleaning. I will be a future patient!!! Highly recommend!

I have been looking for a dentist close by since I work and live in Schererville. I was NOT disappointed with the level of professionalism and customer service I received here. First the young lady at the front desk that assisted me with my appointment was able to answer any questions I had prior to my visit. Once I arrived the young lady at the front desk greeted me and then Silsan (I think that's how you spell it) the Hygenist led me to the back for X-ray and was very polite and made me feel like a friend. Dr. Rodriguez couldn't have been more welcoming and very transparent with the entire cleaning and evaluation. I felt like they actually care here and made sure I am on track for great dental health. I'm not usually on a schedule for dental visits but will definitely be here every 6 months as they have recommended because the whole visit was top notch from beginning to end! 10/10

This is by far the best dentist I have ever been to and would highly recommend!!! My father and I called and both were scheduled in to be seen the next day and upon arrival the establishment was beautiful, clean, and everyone there was so professional and sweet. Dr. Rodriguez was very knowledgeable and thorough in explaining the situation with my smile and what we'd need to do to achieve the perfect smile. My hygienist Silsan performed a deep clean on me that was absolutely amazing and the front desk receptionist Merissa makes the experience all the more better from the time you walk in to the time you leave. VERY PLEASED.

I very rarely rate anyone but in this case I have to let everyone know how wonderful Dr Rodriguez Jorda and his staff are. The care was phenomenal. I was given options and time to decide what I wanted to do. I was able to ask questions and get a professional opinion. Marisa was extremely helpful with my insurance questions and worked around my busy schedule to fit me in. The procedure went great and with very little pain. The office is extremely clean and I felt very confident that all the necessary steps were taken to provide a healthy and safe environment.

I haven't tried this new location but Dr Rodriguez is one of the best dentist my entire family has been going to for the past few years when he was at Villaz Dental. We are now searching for a new dentist near us and wishing smile concept was a little closer so we didn't have to change our dentist. He really takes all the time while performing procedures and explains everything before starting a procedure. Will definitely miss him. Wishing him all the success with his new venture.
