Dr. Heggen was raised in Austin, TX and attended Anderson High School. She received her BA in biology at Texas Christian University, graduating with Honors. Dr. Heggen then completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, graduating Cum Laude with Honors in Research in 2005. While in dental training in San Antonio, she was very active in her roles as Vice President, Historian, and Dental Class Secretary. Additionally, Dr. Heggen received an Academic Achievement Scholarship, was a finalist for the James P. Vernetti Award for Excellence in Operative Dentistry, and was recognized for her research in pain perception, receiving awards in Hawaii, Baltimore and San Antonio. Dr. Heggen is a member of several organizations which include: American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, Capital Area Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry, Impact Austin Study Club.
Dr. Heggen worked as a dentist near Dallas, TX for 5 years and then San Diego, CA for 1 year prior to moving back to Austin in 2012. She loves being back home in Austin and enjoys sharing, discovering and experiencing all the old and new Austin treasures with her husband, Hilton and their two children, Chance and Ella.
