Kaushal K. Vakil was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He attended the University of Texas at Austin for his undergraduate studies and went on to Baylor College of Dentistry where he earned his DDS. Dr. Vakil also completed a General Practice Residency at the Central Texas Veterans Hospital in Temple, Texas in 2000. Dr. Vakil has been in private practice for over 10 years. Dr. Vakil stays current with the evolving field of Dentistry by attending hours of continuing education seminars throughout the year. Dr. Vakil is a member of the Southwest Academy of Comprehensive Dentistry, ADA, TDA and Greater Houston Dental Society. Dr. Vakil and his wife, Priti,along with their two young boys enjoy spending time outdoors and traveling to destinations around the world. His personal hobbies include mountain biking, hiking and golf.
Kevin L. Otten was born in Fort Walton Beach, Florida and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He has lived in the Houston area for close to twenty years. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology from the University of Dallas in 1993 and went on to earn his DDS from the University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston. Dr. Otten has published several research articles in the fields of medicine and dentistry. He devotes numerous hours on an annual basis to continuing education so he may provide patients with the most current treatment in the field of dentistry. Dr. Otten is a member of the ADA, TDA, and Greater Houston Dental Society. Dr. Otten enjoys coaching youth soccer and spending time with his wife, Lisa, theirthree children, and their adopted canines.

I've been going to this facility many years and the service & personnel has been excellent and consistent. Nelly and Kristi at the front desk & Mary (dental hygienist) are awesome! Definitely recommended!

As always Dr. Vakil did NOT disappoint. He explained everything during the process. His assistant during my treatment, Joann, made sure things went smoothly and always kept me comfortable. And Nelly at the front, made sure the insurance process was taken care off. Always trust that I'm inform of any financial information before and after any treatment. Thank you Dr. Vakil and staff for making sure I always feel I'm surrounded by trusting and caring people!

This was my first visit to NWGD. Cindy, the hygienist, performed the absolute best job I have ever had with cleaning and polishing my teeth. I had a consultation with Dr. Otten who put me at ease and spent unhurried time with me. Everyone I came into contact in the office was so pleasant and friendly. This practice is relaxed and very professional and I would recommend it to anyone who has any fear of the dentist or have felt they were just a "number".

Thanks for being open and fixing my teeth heh, y'all are essential workers and also I couldn't find any Lysol wipes at the places y'all mentioned. If there are any other places with them let me know some how heh..

I cannot say enough nice things about this facility. Dr. Otten is by far the best dentist EVER. If I were to pick up and move states he's one I would still return to. His level of patient care is impeccable - from ensuring you understand the procedure to making sure you're comfortable throughout the entire process, he's outstanding all around. Joann, my dental hygienist was excellent. She took the time to make sure I was comfortable and worked with me when needed. She was sweet and very kind. If you're in need of a dentist... this is the place you should call.

I highly recommend using this office! Dr. Vakil was so patient with me, as I am extremely anxious and fearful of going to the dentist in general. He and his staff put me at ease and explained every step of the process along the way which helped to reduce some of the anxiety. Technology has come a long way since I was last to a dentist. I had a root canal and crown done and both were accomplished in 2 visits, in-house. No sending off anything to a lab. Dr. Vakil scanned my jaw and the teeth surrounding the area where my crown would be via a computer, then created and baked my crown in the office while I waited. My initial consultation went well and the out-of-pocket cost was going to be reasonable. I made sure they were on my insurance. From the first time I called in pain, Kristy quickly got me in the office in less than 2 hours for a consultation. That surprised me, since I was a brand new patient. Vicky took my initial xrays and then Joann came in later and took more detailed xrays. Both Vicky and Joann are so sweet and gentle. Dr. Vakil checked the source of my pain, confirmed it and sent me home with antibiotics to clear up whatever infection was going on in the root. When I returned for my root canal, I was so very anxious and Joann literally held my hand through the shots (I don't do gas) and I probably sprained her hand I was squeezing it so hard lol. She was careful to provide me with just the right amount of water and suction needed to make the process more pleasant. Both Joanne and Dr. Vakil were so patient with me. I am the biggest baby ever with this kind of thing and they never made me feel embarrassed for stopping them so many times and slowing them down. I left there relieved and not afraid to come back again. When I went back for the crown, I was not quite as anxious as before, but still feeling somewhat vulnerable, being the big baby that I am lol. Vicky did an awesome job of keeping the flying bits during drilling from hitting the back of my throat (I am a gagger). She knew just the right amount of water and suction to use. They stopped as I needed them to. Dr. Vakil was thorough in every step and explained as he went along so I knew what to expect. He is so calm and patient and kind and that made all the difference for me. He was a really good sport to put up with me! I have to say, every single person in that office was so warm and friendly. I can't forget to mention Nelly, she takes care of the payments and insurance questions. She was very sweet also and answered any questions that I had for her. I will be going back in December for my very first cleaning. I am looking forward to meeting the hygienists. I briefly met them as I was leaving. They seemed very nice also. Thank you so much, Northwest General Dentistry, for making such a scary event for me turn out to be so pleasant and positive. And a special shout out to my coworker who recommended them to me . . . thank you, Lisa!

Me and my husband would recommend this office to anyone. From the greeting we receive as we enter til the time we check out, the service is excellent. Julie,, Mary, Vicki, and Dr. Otten all work great as a team. Thank you for the service you provide.
