Dr. Ruggio graduated from Loyola University Dental School in 1981. Upon graduation he served as a resident in the General Practice Residency Program at Cook County Hospital in Chicago where he received advanced training in trauma care, oral surgery, anesthesia, internal medicine, emergency and hospital dentistry.

In 1994, he participated in a residency program in Implant Dentistry at Watertower Surgery Center. In 1995 he was appointed to the staff of Watertower Surgery Centers Department of Dentistry and Oral Surgery where he performed numerous implant surgeries. Today, implants are safely and routinely performed in his offices with great success.

Cosmetic dentistry is as demanding as implant dentistry. Dr. Ruggio continually receives education and training from his peers, and by keeping current with the latest dental journals. You can be confident that you will receive state-of-the-art care.

'Most people are not aware that courses in cosmetic and implant dentistry are not taught in dental school. Advanced training and experience is a must to recreate and restore your smile. From the beginning of my career, I was trained by dentists, oral surgeons, plastic surgeons and ear, nose and throat physicians where we treated people with variety of dental and facial problems that ranged from the minor tooth problems to severe dental and facial trauma requiring comprehensive care. I see hundreds of cosmetic and implant cases each year. The average dentist sees far less. It is this kind of experience where you can be assured that we will meet or exceed your expectations.' -David A. Ruggio, D.D.S.

Dr. Ruggios knowledge, experience and artistic skills are what set him apart from the average dentist. In his spare time, Dr. Ruggio loves spending time with his family, new grandkids, and his new Old English Sheep Dog! He is also an avid cook!

On August 17th, I came to the office to get an impression of tooth #11. Before I set in the dentist's chair, I asked Christine in the billing department to ask you for a 50% "token" discount on procedure that went wrong, post/crown, cutting of gums and extraction. You confirmed later and rejected my offer. Since I developed infection and felt it 4 days after the gum cutting procedure, I felt that I should have been given antibiotic on that day, which was January 5 as a preventive measure against infection. The x-rayed bone loss was not only tooth #11 but adjacent tooth #10. I say this, as a result of significant correlation of bone loss to my gum cutting procedure since timing here of few day delay establishes significant correlation. I was kind enough to offer you my proposal at this point. I'm no expert on this and I will follow up further. It will take time. I don't dispute the Jan 31 prescription which I filled and used as prescribed, but its the aftermath event of cutting the gums is a point of contention. I also informed you that that I had a case previously with a dentist where 5 out of 5 teeth failed since glass fiber posts don't compete with titanium or stainless steel posts, they sheered off, slid off, swallowed a crown etc. They are inexpensive, for sure. When I asked you if you use glass fiber post you said "they have a place". I did not go further with this I asked for a metal post before I booked this appointment and I was told that you do since I called 3 dentists and they don't use metal posts. When I was sitting in the chair you torqued twice, what appeared to me as 2 different abutments. They did not fit and you removed them. I asked if implant maybe stripped, you answered "maybe". At that point I asked you what is the torque spec for implants. You told me 30-45 Newton- centimeters. I asked you if you can torque it 45 N-cm since my #20 tooth came loose and had to be re-drilled and re- torqued performed by other dentist. I gave you this as my reason. I did not asked for out of specification torque. When I asked you to what torque you finally used, you said 45 and your account you verify that you used the 30 N-cm setting. I did not dictate anything to you but I expect dentists, in general, to inform me what they are doing since I had painful experience in the past and specific case with tooth #20 which, again, explains my reasoning. As a matter of fact, my feeling is, that if dentist does not tell me what he is doing, it's a red flag for me. An audio recorder in the office would clarify this. Currently, given that the 2 torqued abutments did not fit and I felt considerable torquing, I think that few of the front abutments' threads may be stripped. If, it fails, additional compensation will be appropriate. Now it is just fine.

My husband and I have been going to Northwest Dental for a few years now and recommend it to everyone we see. Beyond the high quality dental work and professionalism, the dental team is very welcoming and personable. Today my three year old had his first visit and absolutely loved it! The hygienist explained everything before she did it and was very gentle on his teeth.
