Dr. William Coppola graduated with Honors from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with an emphasis in Child Psychology. He received his dental degree from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, VA., and then completed a two-year hospital based specialty residency in Pediatric Dentistry in Pittsburgh, PA, where he was Chief Resident his second year. Dr. Coppola, the founder of Northeast Childrens Dentistry, has been practicing since 1979 and has been recognized by his peers in the 2011-2018 issues of Texas Monthly as a Super Dentist. He has also been voted as Americas Top Dentist from 2013-2019. He is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center, School of Dentistry in San Antonio. Dr. Coppola works at the dental school with dental students and Pediatric Dental Residents.
Dr. Lauren C. Greene is originally from San Antonio, Texas and received her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 2005. She received her doctorate in dental surgery from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2009. After dental school, she received her specialty training in pediatric dentistry at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She received comprehensive pediatric training including treatment of the special needs and medically compromised patient, oral sedation, and treatment under general anesthesia in the operating room setting.
Dr. Greene is a member of the American Association of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, and Texas Dental Association. She is board certified through the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Kevin Coppola was born and raised in the north side of San Antonio, where he was exposed to dentistry at an early age. He spent many hours at Northeast Childrens Dentistry, which his father, Dr. William Coppola, owned (mainly trying to beat the Donkey Kong high score held by his sister, Dr. Lauren Greene). He studied at the McCombs School of Business at UT Austin, where he was nominated to be a Silver Spur and take care of the mascot, Bevo and was also on the nationally televised show Family Feud: College edition.
After spending 4 years studying in Austin, Dr. Coppola returned to San Antonio to study dentistry at UTHSCSA, followed by a 2 year residency in pediatric dentistry in Laredo, TX. You can see him biking around downtown San Antonio with his wife, DJing soft rock hits at local bars and restaurants, or at the dog park with his best friends, Boz, Churro (the Shiba Inus) and Taco (SA Pets Alive Special, honorary Shiba).
Dr. Carol Pina is a proud graduate of Texas A&M University. Before attending dental school at the University of Texas HSC San Antonio, she was a high school English teacher and also worked at Methodist Hospital. After dental school, Dr. Pina completed a residency in Advanced Education General Dentistry and Pediatric Dentistry at a UTHSCSA satellite program in Laredo, Texas. Dr. Pina is a board certified pediatric dentist by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Pina and her husband have three children and enjoy spending time together by visiting local parks and the San Antonio Zoo. She and her family are active in their church, where she also sings in the choir.
Dr. Pina loves working with children and taking care of their special dental needs. Her goal is to be a patient and kind health care provider. She strives to provide an atmosphere where children are comfortable, calm, and relaxed, and where parents concerns are heard and addressed.
Dr. Rivera is a native of the Dominican Republic, where he received his DDS degree from Universidad Nacional Pedro Henriquez Urena (UNPHU). He completed his dental education at the University of Puerto Rico Health Sciences Center and his Pediatric Dental training at Ohio State University at the Nationwide Childrens Hospital at Columbus. During his Pediatric Dental training he also completed a Fellowship in sedation and dental care for children with special needs.
Dr. Rivera was a faculty member at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, department of Pediatric Dentistry, prior to joining our practice in 2009. He has a Masters Degree in Education and is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
He maintains professional affiliations with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the European Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Rivera is fluent in Spanish, English, Portuguese and French.
Dr. Kirsten Fox is originally from Austin, TX and graduated from Texas Christian University with a degree in biology. She received her doctorate in Dental Surgery from The University of Texas Health San Antonio and completed an additional residency specializing in Pediatric Dentistry.
She is a board eligible candidate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She is also a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Texas Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the American Dental Association.

Friendly staff and very welcoming. It was my daughter's first visit to this office and she's only 2 so she's only been to the dentist twice now. Dr. Rivera did not rush her and made her feel comfortable. She's actually excited to go back! Thank y'all again.

This place is AMAZING!!!. My child is Autistic and they ALL was very patient with my daughter to the point that she was that comfortable that she laid down so her dentist can check her teeth!!!...I give them an A+++ in my book!.

My kids have been coming here for going on 6 years now. I have never had any problems will billing or insurance. They are always on top of it! Dr. Pina and staff at the shertz location are amazing. You hear about good deeds happening to other people and having never experienced this personally, I'm moved. My daughter was scared at first. She hates & fears the unknown. Now she love's going to the dentist!! From the front officestarr to Dental assistants the Dentist x-ray technician all of the staff has always been fantastic!! Super kid friendly. This is a great dental clinic to take your kiddos. My son has been coming here since he was an 18 mo. He's now 6 and all of his appointments have been great. He trusts the staff and loves the atmosphere. Staff is accommodating and very professional; highly recommend. :-)
