I founded Northbrook Orthodontics with the goal of creating an office that utilizes technology in combination with my expertise in Orthodontics, to create a great patient experience; not only do we want to offer high quality work, but also pride ourselves in customer service.
As a former Mechanical Engineer, I began using 3-D technologies for rapid prototyping over 20 years ago. In fact, I was one of the first students to utilize 3-D scanning and manufacturing at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, at a newly minted Ford Concurrent Design and Manufacturing Lab. Coincidentally, the technologies that have been used for decades in the Mechanical Engineering industry, have finally found their way to the Orthodontic field.
My graduate studies led me to the University of Illinois at Chicago where I obtained a Doctor of Dental Surgery, as well as a Masters in Oral Sciences with an emphasis on Biomaterials. Thereafter, I attended the University of Rochester (New York), which is a renown program in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.
Having grown up in the North Shore, and after having studied and practiced coast to coast, I am excited to return to the area to serve the Orthodontic needs of this community. I look forward to treating you and your family.

Excellent Doctor . He is very professional and treats his patients very well. He took care of my daughter and in the first two months we saw the progress that he mentioned to us. 100% recommended, available in any emergency. The best experience with an orthodontist in NorthBrook, IL.

I highly recommend Northbrook Orthodontics! The office is new, clean and updated and Dr. Tom is very professional and understanding. I am currently a college student away from the office, but he has been able to set up and send me my trays while I've been away from school.The office is quick to responding back to emails and questions, which I appreciate a lot. We wanted to find an office that was the right fit for our son, and had consultations at 3 offices before deciding upon Northbrook Orthodontics. The pricing here and at the other offices are around the same ballpark range, however Northbrook Orthodontics gave treatment upgrades that are already included in their fee, whereas some of the other offices charged additional for them or did not offer them at all. Dr. Lim was very personable, knowledgeable, and explained treatment in a clear manner. It was nice that he offered more than one treatment option (in our case, Invisalign or braces), and explained the pros and cons of each. His honesty and candor was what ultimately made us choose Northbrook Orthodontics. As a nice personal touch, Dr. Lim called us the day after my son got his braces to see how he was doing.

Brand new, clean, modern office. Technology is up to date -- I liked that they didn't have to take my teeth impressions with the messy trays and putty, and had some sort of 3-D digital scanner instead. Dr Lim is very detail oriented and the staff is professional and friendly. So patient and explains everything to me using models and answering my questions in detail.

I had a consultation appt with Dr Lim for my 9 year old daughter for orthodontic treatment options. Office is brand new. Very nice and clean. Dr Lim may look young, but has more than 10 years of experience. He is very kind, takes time to examine and explains in detail about available options. We have not yet started treatment yet, but surely he has our trust when my daughter is ready for braces.
