For many, dry mouth is just annoying, and not a serious problem. But for some it can lead to other serious conditions. Saliva keeps the tissues in our mouths well lubricated, keeps out teeth clean, and helps digest food. Inadequate saliva can be uncomfortable, lead to problems eating and speaking, and contribute to tooth decay.

While aging itself is responsible for some dry mouth, most cases are due to the side effects of medications. There are literally hundreds of medications that list dry mouth as a side effect. Dr. Bynum can help determine the particular causes of your dry mouth, and help rule out rarer but more serious conditions.

If a medication is the cause, your physician may be able to prescribe an alternate medication. Many common sense approaches will also help, including taking frequent sips of water and stimulating saliva with sugar free gum or candy. Reducing your intake of caffeine, carbonated beverages and alcohol may also help.

Consult Dr. Bynum to rule out some serious conditions that reduce the flow of saliva. Once he has ruled out other causes, Dr. Bynum will recommend some simple remedies. There are also some oral rinses and artificial saliva products available. He will recommend that you be especially vigilant about oral hygiene, since inadequate saliva can increase your chance of tooth decay.

I like the way they explain what they had found and also showed you the picture of the tooth not an X-ray so you can understand it better.

Very nice office. Staff is friendly and welcoming and the service is great. But buyer beware, here's where they lost me: They are NOT in network with ANY insurance provider, despite them asking for your insurance information before being seen. Before my procedure I was shown how much it would cost. I asked the individual if my insurance would cover any of it. The response was "your insurance will send you a check for whatever portion they do cover, which is usually minus your deductible." Fees are due at time of service so I paid. Guess what? My claim was denied because this office is out of network? So how do I get reimbursed IF I'M NOT IN THE NETWORK?? I called the office to ask why I wasn't told they were not in network up front; their answer: It's up to the patient to find that out, and the relationship is between the patient and the insurance, not the insurance and clinic. Wait, what? It never occurred to me they would not inform me of critical financial information. They explained all the other details and did everything else so well, but not the very important part about insurance?? There's a serious disconnect there and they do not own up to it. Hopefully my loss is your gain!

I brought my son into the office to get a check up and a cleaning. He is very nervous going to the dentist. Lori the hygienist did a great job on his cleaning. Dr Allen and Brittney took phenomenal care of him when he had to get fillings. He said he didn't even realize that she already gave him his shot to numb him. That is the worst part for him usually but he said that he's not scared to go to the dentist anymore. I highly recommend this office!!

I wanted to love this place and find a good place to get dental work but a pure waste of time. I came here because of good reviews but I guess I should've read the bad ones too as I just had the same experience lol... I called to make an appt and I confirmed that my dental insurance would be taken as I have done with other dental places I have called and there response was that they don't accept dental insurance but they told me they could accept mine and I literally double checked on the phone and can't exactly remember if she asked for the SSN to run it as other places have to determine if it is accepted, but upon calling and making appt she said they would take it. I come in today, mind you I am a very busy professional and college student so I had to turn away clients of my own to come to this appt just to be told the plan isn't accepted but my insurance is which could have been sorted out upon making an appt. I am not an insurance expert and don't know which plan would be accepted but if you know a certain plan will not be accepted then make that a question that you ask upon making appts with clients. I guess they expect you to make an appt and take a chance on whether or not your insurance will be taken and then pay out of pocket but that is not good business. Please educate your front staff/ scheduler about asking questions that a consumer would otherwise not know to ask. I did not appreciate the nice I'm glad to help you turning to that's your fault for not knowing something that is apart of my job. Thank you for wasting my time! & I thought I was overreacting until reading others similar experience so there is obviously some training you need to do with your staff because they are not knowledgeable and rude once you point out their mistake :)

My first two visits were positive at the practice until I received a cleaning nightmare. The hygienist was very unclean and unprofessional. I received ex-rays without the protected vest and the cleaning was unsanitary as she used her gloves to do other things while cleaning my teeth. Furthermore, she forgot to floss my teeth and I had to remind her to do so. I called back to report my experience and received a mere apology. Moving forward, it was determined that I needed a root canal, which would cost me over 5,000 out of pocket before billing my excellent insurance provider. I had no idea that this practice does not file insurance for services but wants patients to PAY OUT OF POCKET and get reimbursed thereafter. It's ludicrous and I will be following back up with those that I recommended to give information so that they will not be caught off guard. In my years of receiving consistent dental care, I have NEVER had to pay up front for services without my insurance getting filed first. Seems to defeat the purpose of having insurance in my opinion. Lastly, can someone explain the African head figure that sits in the lobby on the table? It's a major turn off for people of color who probably will not become patients.
