The team at North Shore Laser Dentistry believe in the importance of preventative care. We focus on keeping patients in good oral health so that they can live a full, healthy, and enjoyable life that is free from oral pain. This starts by educating our patients on what they can do to stay healthy at home. In our family dentist office we recommend that patients eat a healthy diet that consists of green leafy vegetables, lean protein, nuts, dairy products, and crunchy fruits and veggies. Eating these foods along with drinking water can help to keep teeth healthy and make them stronger. By simultaneously reducing sugar intake, patients can also reduce their risk of cavities.

It is also important to brush and floss throughout the day. Instead of waiting for bedtime to brush teeth, carry a small toothbrush and use it after meals and snacks. This makes it possible to remove sugar and bacteria from the teeth and gums before it has the opportunity to turn into acid that can attack the teeth. This preventative step can greatly reduce a persons' risk of getting a cavity or gum disease. We understand the importance of taking these steps at home and will spend the time necessary to educate and inform patients so that they can stay healthy overall. Education, after all, is essential for living a long and healthy life.

Understanding the importance of these regular dental exams, the team at North Shore Laser Dentistry work to make each patient extremely comfortable. This includes being welcoming and kind while performing dental treatments in a way that is painless and relaxing. Patients visit our dentist office because they trust us to do just that take care of their teeth and gums, gently. The majority of our patients are local and come from the greater Syosset area, we also see patients that are looking for gentle dental care.

Seniors, on the other hand, often struggle with gum disease and oral infections. As people age, their teeth can become weaker and infected more easily. Bone loss is incredibly common with seniors and by conducting regular dental exams, the team at North Shore Laser Dentistry can help seniors to have strong teeth and reduce the risk of them falling out. Since over seventy percent of U.S. adults suffer from tooth loss, preventative care is important.

A. Primary, or 'baby,' teeth are important for many reasons. Not only do they help children speak clearly and chew naturally, they also aid in forming a path that permanent teeth can follow when they are ready to come in.

A. First, rinse the irritated area with warm salt water and place a cold compress on the face if it is swollen. Give the child acetaminophen for any pain, rather than placing aspirin on the teeth or gums. Finally, see a dentist as soon as possible.

A. Sealants work by filling in the crevasses on the chewing surfaces of the teeth. This shuts out food particles that could get caught in the teeth, causing cavities. The application is fast and comfortable and can effectively protect teeth for many years.

A. Have your family dentist evaluate the fluoride level of your child's primary source of drinking water. If your child is not getting enough fluoride internally through water (especially if the fluoride level is deficient or if your child drinks bottled water without fluoride), then we may prescribe fluoride supplements.

A. Soft plastic mouthguards can be used to protect teeth, lips, cheeks and gums from sport related injuries. A custom-fitted mouthguard will protect your teeth from injuries and even provide protection from severe injuries to the head.

A. There is very little risk in dental X-rays. Family dentists are especially careful to limit the amount of radiation to which you and your family are exposed. Lead aprons and high-speed film are used to ensure safety and minimize the amount of radiation. Digital x-rays provide an even greater level of protection by using up to 90 percent less radiation.

Almost everyone understands the importance behind brushing your teeth and the role tooth enamel plays in preventative dentistry and maintaining dental health. However, many underestimate the unique quality that enamel has and dont have a complete understanding of how enamel works, which in return makes it far more difficult to take the necessary precautions to ensure

Using dental fillings to treat cavities is one of the most common types of routine dental care. The American Dental Association reports that approximately 91% of adults will experience at least one cavity in their permanent teeth at some point in time. Fortunately, the high demand for this type of dental work has led to

For patients missing several teeth, a denture can lead to a sense of normalcy. However, these dental replacements do sometimes need repair, and they often seem to break or malfunction at the most inconvenient of times. It is normal for teeth to yellow or become stained over time, but teeth whitening can return a smile to its original brightness. Ive been to many a dentist in my saga of bad teeth and no one can make a crown, cap, or veneer like them. Dr Rimma has hands like an angel. Ive had extensive work done and never had any problems. I highly recommend this practice.

This establishment offers a lovely upscale chic aesthetic and a fantastic vibe. It is, without a doubt, the best dental experience I ever had. One of the things I admire about them is how much they value your time. I'm always in and out. In terms of procedures, they always go above and beyond to make sure you have a pleasant and pain-free experience. I've been coming here for a few years and I really enjoy it. Their work is outstanding and thorough. Dr. Rimma & Igor always addresses all of my questions and concerns. In 2017, I came here for a initially for a consultation and a second quote for ortho snap. They not only offered the treatment at a lower cost, but they also offered a variety of payment plans, one of which was interest-free. I finally finished my treatment with few adjustments & I couldn't be happier with my new smile. I will continue all my routine examinations & preventive dental care here. I highly recommend.

So I recently moved to Syosset and decided to find a new dentist, which is always something I am afraid to do (fear of dentists). However, I am extremely happy with Dr. Sheshelovsky. Usually when you go for a cleanup, it's the hygienist that do it. Here it's the actual dentist. She is extremely polite and gentle. After putting off my crown for years, I decided to do it, and once again the experience was great. She explained exactly what was happening and made sure I was comfortable. I didn't even feel when she gave me the shot to numb the gums. Thank god my wife found her, I no longer have to go visit NYC to go to the dentist. Heaven sent. Extremely recommended, and she is open on the weekends.

North Shore Comprehensive in Syosset was by far my best dental experience, and I've had many different encounters over the years. My partner referred me to the lovely Doctor Rimma, who I had the pleasure of working with, along with her wonderful tech-sidekick, Igor. I had a rather extensive procedure, which required several intense visits. Traveling from New York City practically every weekend for nearly 2 months was not easy, yet I was always excited, because I knew I was in highly capable hands and I kept my eyes on that amazing-smile prize! The office is beautiful and modern - upon entering, Dr. Rimma always made me feel like an anticipated, special guest that she was happy to see, and I received the same warmth from Igor (fun fact: if you're nervous during your procedure, Igor will play some cool 80s music videos for you!). Together, they had a way of making my lengthy process seem enjoyable, and after being so used to seeing them every weekend, the thought of completing/ending the work had brought tears to my eyes! Ha! Dr. Rimma and Igor performed one root canal and a total of twelve crown placements on my teeth, and I truly could not be happier with the my final results. They exceeded my expectations and I now smile all the time! These two are a unique team; in sync, extremely knowledgable, genuine, attentive and thoughtful, providing exceptional service. I will absolutely go back to them if I should need any dental work done in the future. So, if you are looking for a modern dental office with an 80s twist, look no further :)
