Dr. Luma attended the Oakland University before receiving her Doctorate in 2004 from University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry in Michigan, where she earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (DDS).
After graduation, she joined the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency program at UDM School of Dentistry in partnership with St. John Riverview Hospital which provided her with advanced knowledge and skills that enable her to perform evidence-based comprehensive oral care ethically and proficiently on a wide range of patient populations.
Dr. Luma is constantly attending Continuing Dental Education programs that provides the best up to date knowledge and advancement in the dental field that ensures maintaining the highest quality standards along with using cutting-edge dental technology and constantly updated techniques that utilizing the latest dental research and studies.

Dr Ivanova, the new associate dentist, had joined North Shore Dental Group in 2016, Dr. Silviya Ivanova graduated Cum Laude from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a major in Psychology and Biology, and a minor in Chemistry. She then continued to earn her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at Midwestern University in Downers Grove.
As part of her clinical training Dr. Ivanova has become proficient in endodontics, oral surgery, fixed and removable prosthetics, periodontics, cosmetic dentistry, restoring implants and limited orthodontic treatment. She treats each patient with compassion and is a strong believer that patient education is key in attaining optimal oral health. Following her belief in giving back to the community Dr. Ivanova has participated in dental mission trips to serve those in need and promote oral health care.
Throughout the course of her dental education Dr. Ivanova has consistently pursued additional courses through the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), the Chicago Dental Society (CDS), the American Student Dental Association (ASDA) and the Illinois State Dental Association (ISDS) and the American Dental Association (ADA).
Preventive dentistry is dental care and treatment that helps you avoid common problems such as periodontal disease and tooth decay (caries). You practice some preventive dentistry at home every day when you floss and brush your teeth. However, it is necessary for you to visit the dentist twice a year for more comprehensive examinations and cleanings than you could do by yourself.

Although it is not required that you get new fillings to replace your current amalgam or metal ones, it may be the right solution if your fillings are falling out, seem to fit poorly, make your mouth and food taste funny, or are causing your teeth to crack. Composite fillings can be made while you wait and are tooth-colored. This allows them to blend in with the rest of your teeth.

Well, I am adding to my review below because I just found out that a tooth I reported pain in, actually has a cavity that Dr. Luma completely missed. The high tech scan she relied on must not have been in that area. She did not do a normal exam and check the actual tooth like I have had at every other check up at other dentists in my life. I am so glad I left to find a friendly and competent dentist. You may notice in Dr. Luma's response to my review, she said, "We are sorry you feel this way." That is not a real apology at all. And to be clear, I was not reporting "feelings" but facts. I also did not request a full mouth of extensive x-rays or a scan, that is not true. I only wanted to have some concerns evaluated and repaired. Just because she advertises on Relevant Radio does not mean she lives by the same morals, values and virtues. My original review is here: I really hate to write negative reviews but people need to know. This is the worst dentist I have ever encountered! She does not listen at all and is very arrogant. The positive reviews are surprising! We were not expecting this at all! Dr. Luma Naim had a very bad disposition, very insulting, snappy and completely rude, while I was being polite. I even left politely, sort of in shock, I guess. Thinking back, I should have called her out when I was there. I am not sure what was wrong but it was completely unprofessional and uncalled for. We will not be returning no matter how nice or high tech the office is. We would be happier with an old school dentist who may not have all the latest technology but just has good old fashioned kindness. She really wants to sell a lot of extra scans and services that insurance may not cover and are absolutely unnecessary. Her assistant was nice but took an excessive amount of x-rays, I thought she would never stop! She kept saying how it is very little radiation but I certainly feel over- x-rayed! The main reason I was there was not even addressed because she was so concerned about selling other things. It is actually a good thing that my issue was not addressed because I do not want her to be the one to repair an old filling and fix a chipped tooth. My family is going elsewhere for sure! I so miss my former dentist who retired. If I could give zero stars, I would! I do NOT recommend her at all!

Great experience!! Went in for wisdom tooth extraction and was so nervous. Dr Luma and her office couldn't have been more helpful. Dr Luma made me feel very comfortable, took great care and ensured I was not in pain during the extraction. The office is spacious and gorgeous, people are caring and helpful. The price is reasonable too. So happy to have found this office.

You know that person that is absolutely terrified of going to the dentist? That's me. I was so incredibly anxious and nervous about my diagnosis when I visited Dr Luma's office for the first time - but her entire office and team put me at ease and even as I burst into tears from fear, they were there to walk me through every step and explain what was going on in an informative yet relaxed way. I think the thing I love the most, aside from the incredibly wonderful people who work there, is the fact that this is truly a no judgment zone! They keep to their mission of wanting to see you become healthier and be more confident in your smile. 100% recommended, especially if you've had bad experiences with other dentists in the past - the team will definitely exceed all expectations and you'll actually look forward to going back for your check ups :)

The support staff is great, friendly like Monica and Tiffany to name a few. Dr. Luma is our family's everything dentist, she's professional, patient, personable, honest, she's also a PROFESSOR at a dental school. The clinic is immaculately clean, modern, hi-tech.
