Dr. Brett Rhodes earned his bachelors degree in microbiology and his masters degree in biological sciences from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. After four years serving youth as collegiate campus minister, he relocated to Virginia and earned his Doctor in Dental Surgery (D.D.S) from Virginia Commonwealth University (MCV). Dr. Rhodes pursued a residency, earning an advanced education in general dentistry at the Birmingham VA Medical Center.
Dr. Rhodes volunteers at the Bradley Free Clinic and MOM projects and looks forward to adding mission work overseas as his business becomes more established. He is also committed to continuing education and takes many advanced courses each year to enhance his skills to better serve the dental care needs of his patients and provide them with a gentle and comfortable dental experience.
In his free time, Dr. Rhodes loves to spend time with his wife, Natasha, and their four children. He and his family love to spend time outside, whether at their home in Botetourt County, or at one of the many beautiful places in the Roanoke Valley that drew them here. Dr. Rhodes also loves to hike, camp, fish, visit the local breweries, golf and work in his yard.
Karen joined our dental team in September 2018 bringing 20 years of dental experience. She graduated in 1998 from Mercer County Technical Education Center in Princeton, West Virginia as a certified Dental Assistant. After she graduated, she wanted to better her career and moved to Roanoke, VA. Over the years, she has become well seasoned in many aspects of the dental field including Office Manager, Delta Dental Claims Auditor, Dental Assistant, and as a Patient Care Coordinator. Karen is always eager to help our patients with their dental goals and will help you with a smile to get you the financial options you or to check on your Dental benefits. Karen has always kept dentistry as her number one passion as she loves to smile and loves seeing our patients smile. Patients love her outgoing personality.
In her spare time, Karen loves spending time with her husband, Tom, her soon to be Eagle-scout son, Alex, and her silly dog. She loves watching her Mountaineers football even though her son is a Hokie! Karen also loves traveling and her food very spicy and hot.
Martha, our dental hygienist actually ENJOYS cleaning teeth, answering questions about periodontal disease (what?), and proper dental cleansing techniques. Just ask her she has several tips and suggestions to achieve and maintain optimal dental health.
Peyton graduated from Northside High School in 2008. She married her High School sweetheart, Jamie. Together, Peyton and Jamie have 3 boys: JJ, Dalton, and Josey. Peyton has been working with Dr. Rhodes for almost 2 years. In her free time, she enjoys reading, relaxing, and drinking coffee.
Originally from Fincastle, Va. Brandie now resides in Franklin County, Va. with her husband Justin of 17 years and Daughter and son (Justice 20, Tyler 16). Brandie started her career as a dental assistant January 2002. Brandie enjoys all aspects of dentistry, but especially enjoys building relationships with the patients. She is wonderful at comforting them when they are nervous or just trying to make them laugh and be more at ease in the dental chair! Our office is fun and upbeat we take the time to listen to your needs and we promise to make your visit to our office as pleasant as possible. YOUR SMILE IS OUR PASSION. Brandie is an avid animal lover, she also likes to shoot guns, cook, read and work puzzles in her spare time.
Tammy has worked in the dental field for over 11 years. Having been both a chair side assistant, as well as a front office receptionist, Tammy loves all aspects of Dentistry. For the past 8 years, Tammy has had the opportunity to be a part of the Mission of Mercy, a wonderful organization that provides free dental care to individuals in needs. This experience increased Tammys already strong passion for helping others within the dental field.
Tammy has called Salem home all of her life. Tammy resides there with her husband of 33 years, Tim. Together, they have three grown daughters and three granddaughters. In her spare time, Tammy enjoys renovating outdated, old houses, DIY projects, cooking, gardening, hiking, and walking her 14-year-old Schnauzer, Tillie

Dr. Rhodes is an phenomenal dentist. I went to him when I had a sudden pain in my tooth and he was able to get me in quickly, despite being a new patient. I'm nervous when it comes to dentists visits or doctors, but the friendly staff made me feel calm, and helped the environment be light and chill. I adored the staff and the professionalism so much, that I decided to make North Roanoke Dental my primary dentist. The facility is very clean and well maintained. I am highly impressed with how appointments and staff operate with COVID going on: staff makes sure that as a patient I am safe by opening doors, providing hand sanitizer/disinfectant, doing a pre-screening, and a screening for each visit (among other things). Every employee wore a mask and gloves the entire time. I am excited to go to have my teeth cleaned/worked on which is something I certainly was not expecting. I would recommend North Roanoke Dental with Dr. Rhodes to anyone, scared of dentists or not, for the exceptional work and care that is put into each patient Update (8-2-2022): Whoever the new person (she hadn't cleaned my teeth before) who cleaned my teeth is, made me feel extremely uncomfortable. At the end of my visit, she unprofessionally told me that Delta Dental would no longer be In-Network (which is fine) but further explained that the change came because it was costing the business money by keeping Delta contracted and she made it sound like those of us that have Delta Dental aren't valued or wanted. She then pulled Ashley (manager) over, even though I didn't ask her to, and told Ashley that I was upset in a condescending tone that made me want to cry. I was in the chair from 3:35pm until 4:55pm for only a teeth cleaning. Part of this time was because the substitute dentist came over to provide his opinion - which I didn't ask for, but the lady cleaning my teeth insisted he come over to talk to me about what I've already discussed with Dr. Jones and Dr. Rhodes. It made me so very uncomfortable. I don't want to go back if she's going to clean my teeth. I don't want to go back if Dr. Rhodes isn't there. I'm terrified of dentists and I had no idea that I would be cared for by strangers who made me feel so uncomfortable. The worst part: I told the cleaning lady I was uncomfortable with dentists and she mocked me continuously through-out the process via back-handed comments and telling OTHERS that I was afraid of dentists. By the end of the visit, I just wanted to leave, not reschedule or schedule my appointment, and not come back at ALL. I don't know where the staff was that I first met over two years ago and normally handles me, but I'm disappointed and don't want to go back again.

My first visit I got to meet so many awesome people , Julie, and "BC" were just the kindest ever! It's the first time I've felt included in my oral hygienic future health and gratefully overloaded with very informative insight and education. I feel like no one will try to embarrass me or make me feel bad for the state of my dental work as I try to improve on things. The offices are under some light renovations but that means however great they are now, they will be even better moving forward. Talk about stress and anxiety free!! Love it. Very warm and sincere with conscientious sense of humor and respect.
