The staff up front have been very nice and welcoming. The dentist I saw, Dr Mycroft, seems very sweet, she is very patient and reduces and discomfort or pain as much as possible. She also explains all options, it's up to you to ask pros/cons of each one as well as any other questions you may have. I did have additional tooth pain after seeing her for a procedure on my 1st or 2nd visit, it got so bad I had to have the tooth pulled. I do have an issue with their billing. Each time I have gone in, I always elect to pay my full insurance portion. I have been to this office approx. 4 times in a year to year and half. I have to call about billing at least 3 times. I have gotten bills in the mail for at least 50% to 100% more than I paid in office. The last time I called, I was told they try to get as close to the insurance estimate as possible and they don't know how much the insurance will pay. 2 visits I have gotten a bill for almost the same amount I have paid in office already. The attached accounts together if you are in the same address, can't separate them until they show a zero balance. If you want them separate, you have to tell them upfront or they will combine them all into one bill. So now my bill has what they are stating my insurance didn't pay out and another person. My daughter's bill was done separately even though she lives at the same address. She was mailed a letter stating she owes. I was told they didn't have her insurance. When I pointed out that I had allowed them to take a copy of her insurance card prior to her visit, so I don't know why happened to it, they said they have it, just not the information of the person (meaning the sponsor). The person on the phone claimed they told her at check out, however I was there with her at check out. I was sitting in the waiting room as well, no one ever informed me or asked me while waiting for her, if I had the information. Their kind, welcoming atmosphere gets 2 stars from me, however I am frustrated by their billing and insurance practices as well as wondering if the prior procedure on the tooth that had to be pulled was done correctly. I will never really know.

My family has been using this practice for years. The entire staff is amazing! They are friendly, considerate, caring and always accommodating! I didn't see a dentist regularly as a child, so I have always been insecure about my smile. Dr. Balkcom & his staff have always taken the time to explain procedures and options and then discuss pricing. I am confident with Dr. Balkcoms recommendations & have always been happy with the results. I am no longer self conscious about my smile & I show it off more than ever. If anyone is ever looking for a new dental practice, you will not be disappointed with the level of service and professionalism that is received from North Road Family Dental.

I highly recommend him,after being disappointed by other dentist i went to see him the entire staff was very friendly and professional he takes time with his patients and explains every single step i was very satisfied.Thank you very much Dr Balkcom

True Review: (Between April - October 2017) I came to Dr. Balkcom and was initial pleased, but soon MAJORLY regretted ever going after they ruined my credit score for a product NEVER RECEIVED I came to him to have several teeth extracted and to have dentures fitted. The extractions went well so a continued several more visits. I PAID IN FULL around $4000. The first problem is he was CONSTANTLY ON VACATION!!! and he had a lady, who is not even listed as a dentist on their website (Though I do not doubt she was qualified, but I went there because I like him) do most of the extraction. Their equipment was inferior, The Nitrous oxide mask broken apart SEVERAL TIMES, Even the dentist and staff were getting irritated with it, plus the Nitrous oxide was weak. When it came to the dentures it really all went downhill. I mentioned SEVERAL times that I do want dentures and TOLD DR. BALKCOM, THE OTHER DENTIST AND ALL STAFF that I could not afford them until AFTER CHRISTMAS. I TOLD them to wait til AFTER CHRISTMAS SEVERAL TIMES, but they called me almost EVERYDAY, PRESSURING ME to come in to get fitted. I went it so I could, in their terms, "Get the process rolling". I soon got a letter in the mail saying $1600 was never collected and was going to COLLECTIONS. I called them right away and they said "We will stop it ASAP". THEY DID NOT!!! NOW I OWE $1600 to a collection agency and NO DENTURES. WHY DID THEY CHARGE ME $1600 FOR SOMETHING I NEVER RECEIVED??? THEY ARE ALL CROOKS HERE!!! I have reported all this and Filed a Complaint to the ADA.

best dentist in Snellville. I love the my hygeneist (sp?) and dr owens is a great dentist with a nice personality. getting my teeth whitened next time and cant wait to see how white they turn out.

Dr. Owens is the best. I thought I needed a crown but it turns out that I only needed a filling which is a BIG difference in price. My insurance covered most of it and I was relieved. I am scheduled back for my teeth cleaning for once, I am not scared of the dentist.
