Dr. Mark Swensen graduated magna cum laude from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry in 2007 with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Finishing in the top 5% of his class, he was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the national dental honor society. Before attending dental school, Dr. Swensen earned a bachelors degree in Business Administration from Utah State University, graduating cum laude. Following dental school, he completed a General Practice Residency at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina, which incorporated advanced training in all phases of general dentistry, including implant dentistry, oral surgery, complex restorative dentistry, and aesthetic dentistry.
Dr. Swensen is committed to changing lives by providing comprehensive dental care at the highest level. He constantly furthers his knowledge in dentistry by investing in the highest quality continuing education from world-renowned clinicians, far exceeding the minimum continuing education requirements. As a member of several study clubs, Dr. Swensen collaborates regularly with local specialists, emphasizing an interdisciplinary, team approach to treat complex dental problems. In July 2013, Dr. Swensen was inducted as a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry, after completing 500 hours of continuing education and passing a comprehensive examination. He is currently a member of the Faculty Club at Spear Education in Scottsdale, AZ. Additionally, he is a member of the American Dental Association, the Oregon Dental Association, the Southern Willamette Dental Society, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.When he is away from the office, Dr. Swensen enjoys spending time his wife, Lindsey, their four children: Macy, twins Karlee and Nicholas, Logan; and their dog, Penny. Dr. Swensen enjoys water skiing, snow skiing, golf, cycling, and college sports.
Dr. Haslam grew up in Philomath, Oregon and attended Oregon State University, graduating Cum Laude with a degree in Biology. He then attended dental school at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland where he held various leadership roles, including serving as president of the student dental association. Dr. Haslam is a member of The Oregon Dental Association, American Dental Association and The Southern Willamette Dental Society.

Sandy is the manager of North Point Dental Group. She has worked in the dental field in Corvallis for over 20 years, joining NPDG in 2012. She feels so fortunate to work with such outstanding people, in a very happy and healthy environment. Her primary role in the practice is to support the doctors and staff in providing excellent patient care. Outside of the practice, Sandy enjoys stand up paddle boarding, hiking, mountain biking and playing disc golf with her husband Tom and their crazy Westie, Henry (aka Hank The Tank). She is also an avid college sports fan, and considers herself a Beaverine half OSU Beaver and half Michigan Wolverine.
Trudy is our financial coordinator. She was born and raised in Eastern Oregon. Therefore, she is a Beaver and Duck fan, except for the Civil War, and then its Go Beavs! She has 46 years of experience in the dental field, 37 of which have been in our office. She received her Expanded Function Dental Assistant certification from Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton, Oregon. Trudy and her husband have two children, and four grandchildren and an Aussie named Jetta. They enjoy spending time with family and friends and the great outdoors, along with sports and traveling to tropical islands.
She is a native Oregonian, born and raised in the Philomath area. She and her husband, Brian, are parents to grown daughters, Meghan and Heather, and a sweet little dog named Bodie. In her free time, Dani enjoys attending the local high school sporting events, photography, scrapbooking, camping, and girls trips with her daughters and friends.
Kong is one of our treatment coordinators. She began her career here with Dr. Balkins, when she graduated from the LBCC Dental Assisting Program in 1997. After working in the orthodontic field for several years, she is finally back home at North Point Dental Group! Kong loves cooking, baking, attending area festivals, hiking the Northwest hills with her husband Tom, and their two furry kids, Oscar and Lucy.
Tammy grew up in Idaho but has lived in the Corvallis area for 30 years and considers herself an Oregonian. She and her husband Mike live in Philomath where they raised two sons and one fluffy dog. She enjoys spending time with family and friends watching sports, GO BEAVS!, hiking, biking, and traveling.
Lisa grew up in Grants Pass Oregon, and attended The University of Oregon for two years as a Health/Pre-Dental Hygiene major. She finished her degree in Dental Hygiene at Lane Community College, graduating with honors in 1985. Lisa lives in Corvallis with her husband Ed. Her sons, Aaron and Noah, are both finishing their under graduate degrees at OSU. She enjoys reading, kayaking, rock collecting, chocolate, staying active with her friends, hiking (especially in Peavy Arboretum), and running or fast-walking half marathons.
Belinda completed her dental hygiene degree in Bethlehem, PA, and has been investing in the Corvallis Community as a dental hygienist for over 30 years. She is passionate about making quality preventative dental care accessible to all.
Lisa is one of the dental hygienists on staff at North Point Dental Group, LLC. She began her career in 1985 after graduating from the LBCC Dental Assisting Program. Lisa worked in general dentistry, oral surgery, and endodontics before pursuing a degree in dental hygiene. She graduated from the LCC Dental Hygiene Program in 2008 with honors. She enjoys working on the North Point Dental Group, LLC staff and strives to provide optimum dental care to each of her patients. Lisa lives in Philomath with her husband John. She enjoys traveling, camping, swimming, hiking, and reading.
Susan has been a valued employee of North Point Dental Group since 2000. She was born and raised in Hawaii, and it is her favorite place to visit. Susans three grown children, Rachel, Grant and Luke are a very important part of her life, along with her son-in-law Dave, and grandson Makoa.
Brandi is a native Oregonian, born in Salem, and grew up in the Willamette Valley. She and her husband Travis love being with their friends and family, camping and spending time at our area lakes with their two sons, Emery and Westen.
Hannah grew up in Philomath, and graduated from the Linn Benton Community College Dental Assisting Program. She was married in February 2021, and she and her husband, Kyler recently welcomed Bodhi, a dachshund puppy, into the family.Hannah loves the outdoors, where she spends her free time hiking, inline skating, and playing with Bodhi at the park.
Jessica grew up in Albany, graduating from West Albany High School, and then went on to the LBCC Dental Assisting Program. She enjoys wake boarding and tubing at the lake. She also loves the fall season and just hanging out and laughing with her friends and family.
Rachel joined NPDG in 2019, and quickly became an important member of our team. One of her best qualities is her natural ability to help our patients feel comfortable and confident in our practice. She grew up in Albany, graduated from Santiam Christian, and then completed the dental assisting program at Linn-Benton Community College.

When I moved to this area six years ago after a lifetime mostly in Alaska and long term care with a family dentist, I was uneasy with starting over with a new dentist and dental clinic. Dr. Swensen, hygienist Belinda, the ever friendly and helpful office staff, and later Dr. Haslam and other support staff, have all provided exceptional dental care and an attentive, welcoming, and skilled environment that has completely sealed my confidence in the care I have received. Shortly before my last deployment I came to Dr Haslam's dental office on Kings because I refused to let military dentists anywhere near my teeth. What I found was an office full of the most caring, wonderful and friendly dental professionals I've ever encountered. I actually look forward to going to the dentist and you will too if you come to their awesome new office on Walnut Blvd. You rock Sandy!!!

The front facade piece of my bottom tooth chipped off while on vacation. I brought it home wrapped in a moist towel and saw Dr Haslam. He was able to bond the chipped piece back onto my tooth. He did an excellent job and you can't even tell by looking at it. Very happy with the outcome!

I chose this dental office randomly last year; the old office was close to our home & they accepted my insurance. It turned out to be a very wise decision. Every single employee is kind and conscientious. Kong made sure we were getting the full benefit of dental insurance from our previous state. She made sure our new coverage kicked in, and we scheduled appts. so we would always have coverage. Dr. Haslam is excellent! Skilled and caring; very patient w/my aversion to dental procedures. Every dental hygienist & dental assistant I've had has been great. My son has a worrisome tooth issue as of yesterday & his appt is Tuesday. When we started going for visits last year, they were in this teeny, dark maze of a clinic that did not meet their needs at all. Happy to see they have room to work in the new space.

Who writes a fan letter to their dental office??? Apparently I do. After my recent visit to North Pointe Dental; I am reminded at what a caring office it is. I have been a patient with them for a number of years, and the care and attention I receive is always excellent. From the office staff to the hygienists, the dental assistants, and the dentists.....without fail they are all attentive and sincere. I tend to be the kind of patient that asks a lot of questions and they are thoughtfully addressed. It could be about a treatment plan, a payment plan, or a question about the history of dentristry. I must say, I was a bit worried when the office moved to a larger more efficient and elaborate location. Certainly, equipment has been updated and the logistics are more efficient. But, here's the real beauty of it. The relationship amongst the staff is clearly supportive and respectful. That carries over to patient care. When the office moved, they brought their hearts with them.

I've been going to Dr. Ben Haslam for about 4 years now (back then he was at "college hill") and he is unquestionably the best dentist I have had. Him and all the staff at North Point are friendly and understanding. Speaking as someone who would generally prefer to avoid the dentist, I actually enjoy my visits to North Point. To any students coming in to Corvallis, I would highly recommend becoming a patient here.

I'll start by saying I have a huge aversion to going to the dentist. I've never had a truly negative experience, but it's just one of those things I hate doing. Embarrassingly, it had been a very long time since my last dentist visit. After reading different recommendations, I called North Point Dental to see if they had any openings. I made an appointment with Dr. Swenson. From the first phone call to the first appointment, everyone was incredibly nice. They are all very friendly and quick to greet you/get you checked in when you walk through the door. My first appointment was to get established and see what work was recommended. Dr. Swenson was the first dentist to ever talk me through dental procedures and terms so that I could appreciate the importance of the procedures and at home care. He had several recommendations, but was not pushy and all of his recommendations were followed up with explanations. I needed a really good cleaning and he recommended I have one of my wisdoms pulled (I hadn't had any pulled as an adolescent) to help with maintaining my dental care between visits. The deep cleanings with the hygienists (I had two sessions) were professional and they really explained how to care for my teeth in between visits. They both made sure I was comfortable and made nice conversation. I had my wisdom pulled today and I didn't feel a thing, not even the anesthetic. It was quick and painless and I didn't even know the tooth had been pulled. Their billing/check out staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and take the time to explain the insurance benefits and cost breakdowns. All in all, I still can't say I love going to the dentist, but I am incredibly impressed with North Point and and looking forward to their continued care.

Dr. Swensen and his team at North Point Dental provide outstanding dental care. I have been receiving major restorative dental work and I greatly appreciate the care that I have been receiving. The thoughtful, step-by-step restorative procedures are part of a holistic approach to improving functionality and appearance. I am very excited to have a nice smile once again.

I am a new patient at North Point Dental. I appreciate their payment program! More importantly, I appreciate how kind and professional the staff is. Dr. Haslam took all the time needed to review my dental health with me. I needed a cleaning, and they offered me a same-day cancellation spot! I needed a crown, and was amazed that after the whole crown prep experience, I felt completely normal and comfortable as soon as the anesthetic wore off - no sore jaw, cheeks or teeth! I'm so thankful my good friend recommended North Point Dental, they are the best!

I just want quickly say that this is by far the best dentist I have been to. I've had all kinds of work done here, mostly related to poorly done fillings by my previous dentists. I have been with this dentist for around 14 years. Dr. Balking was a great dentist and I think NPDG will remain just as good under Dr. Swensen's leadership. A story story: What really sealed the deal for me stocking with NPDG was when I used my tooth as a screwdriver and I felt a pop in my socket from the torsion. A couple of days later I had a huge abscess. Urgent Care fixed the infection and then I went to NPDG. The dentists at the time looked around and took some radiographs and said I should be fine. I told him that my tooth felt numb and I didn't think it was fine. He insisted the radiograph shows no damage to the root, but I insisted that I know my teeth and something is wrong with one of them. He actually listened at my second request and he performed 2 additional tests (a sub zero liquid of some kind and electric stimulation). I felt nothing, and he then knew there was indeed a problem and that I needed a root canal. He was available right then, so he did the root canal, and boy was it rotten inside that tooth despite what the radiographic had shown.

My favorite dentist! Top quality dentistry and good people. Came here for a cleaning after a long time away and they polished up my teeth again and it looks great! Also got a filling and it was actually a good experience -- thanks very much to Dr. Haslam, Brandi, and team. Typically booked long in advance but I got in due to a cancellation. I've been a patient of Dr. Svenson for about 9 years and I wouldn't go anywhere else! The staff is very kind and they make sure they take time to address all your concerns. They send text reminders before your appointment and they're a lifesaver. Hygienists are gentle, I never leave feeling sore like I have at other dentists. I can't recommend them enough. Best in town!

Scheduling is a dream! Front desk is filled with competent, compassionate, cheerful staff. Dentists and assistants prioritize your comfort and give adequate time and attention to your dental care. Hygienists are friendly and gentle. They send multiple text reminders of upcoming appointments and I love that!

My son, Luke, said he had the best experience he's ever had at a dental office. He appreciated that he was treated like an adult and not a child (he likes when he's spoken to directly about things that affect him), and he really liked both Dr. Haslam and his assistants. I felt that Dr. Haslam has Luke's best interests and health in mind when he makes recommendations for procedures/follow up visits. We're so glad that our pediatrician recommended this office.

Exceptional dental office. The receptionists, the Dental assistant, the hygienist to the Dentist are outstanding. One always is skeptical about visiting a Dentist. Are you going to prescribed treatments you really do not need, etc, etc. My fears were all allayed by an outstanding professional culture and practice of dentistry at North Point Dental. The 5 star rating on google is not an artifact, but entirely true. I would recommend them to anyone needing their teeth looked at. Somebody said meticulous, and I would endorse that as well.

Really great dental office. I have had a lot of dental work in my life from a lot of dentists. This place is easily the best experience I've have had. The dentist takes the time to make me feel comfortable and explain my options. I find myself laughing and actually enjoying myself. Thank you North Point!
