Dr. Howard B. Gross received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from Universidad Central of Venezuela and from the University of Detroit-Mercy School of Dentistry. Following his dental training, he completed a post graduate residency program in Periodontology at Boston University School of Dental Medicine. In addition, he also obtained a Master of Science degree in Oral Biology.
Dr. Gross is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology where he serves as a Board Examiner as well as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Aside from teaching, he also devotes a great deal of time training in the latest techniques and therapies for his patients.
Dr. Gross is on the editorial board of the Compendium Journal of Continuing Education in Dentistry. He has been awarded a Fellowship by the International College of Dentists (FICD). He is actively involved with the American Dental Association, the Pennsylvania Dental Association, and the Northeast Society of Periodontists.
The gum line, and the bone just beneath the gum line, can be lowered to change the appearance of your smile. This can create a more even gum line or make the teeth appear longer. Gingival (gum) contouring is the process of recontouring the gum only. Crown lengthening refers to recontouring of both gum and supporting bone.

Dr. Gross is an exceptional periodontist. His knowledge, skills, calm demeanor, sets him a part as one of the best! He is compassionate and thoughtful. He personally called me after my procedure to check on me. His front desk is very nice and helpful. Hard to find someone like Dr. Gross these days!

I have known Dr Gross for a long time and recently needed his services. I needed an extraction and an implant. It was done in one visit and a success.My experience found Dr Gross kind and caring. Most important he was professional and extremely meticulous, paying attention to every detail. His staff complements him. I am also a professional. Dr Gross provides excellent periodontal services. He explains procedures in detail and addresses any concerns or questions in a kind and respectful manner. He is extremely knowledgeable and experienced in his field. His office staff is courteous, friendly and professional, providing for a very comfortable and calming experience. Dr. Gross is professional and a perfectionist. His attention to detail is amazing. He truly cares about his patients. I am having extensive dental work done. The pain has been minimal when I expected much more. I wouldn't use any other periodontist. I've been coming to this office for over 30 years. Highly recommend Howard Gross!

The doctor is very professional and polite. However, the lady named Elsa, is very unprofessional and disrespectful. So, for that reason. I will not proceed with the treatment.

Dr. Gross is a compassionate and extremely knowledgeable periodontist. He's done extensive work on me and helped save my teeth, as well as putting in implants. He takes time to explain what he will do. He's even called me at home to check on me after procedures. His front desk and dental techs are a wonderful group, always cheerful and ready to help as well. I highly recommend his practice.

I've been seeing Dr. Gross and his techs for a couple of years now and couldn't be happier with my experiences from every perspective. He's knowledgeable, takes time to explain everything clearly, and exudes wonderful professionalism and knowledge. I highly recommend him. And, I want to add that the office staff are wonderful also.

I would not recommend Dr. Gross for anyone who has fears of dental work. My anxiety regarding any dental work has gone through the roof from being a patient of his. I felt like I was belittled and talked-down to throughout the time I saw him and never got full instructions or concrete steps that were needed to remedy the problem I was seeing him for. I will not return, nor recommend this practice.

Dr. Gross is a personable periodontist who does excellent work. Tooth replacement isn't fun, but Dr. Gross and his staff make the process comfortable and such that it won't need to be redone in the future.
