Dr. Marie Johnson grew up in southern Maine, where her father and grandfather were dentists. She went to St. Marys College of Maryland and graduated cum laude with a BA in biology after spending time both in the Gambia, West Africa and Australia during her studies. She attended the University of Maryland School of Dentistry graduating magna cum laude. Dr. Marie moved to Seattle to complete a General Practice Residency at the University of Washington. She worked in private practice in the Baltimore area as well as in the Sultanate of Oman on the Arabian Peninsula. Upon returning to Maryland, she divided her time between working in private practice and teaching as a clinical instructor at the University of Maryland. Most recently, she represented the University of Maryland in Kigali, Rwanda, as a clinical faculty member of the University of Rwanda, School of Dentistry and as a US faculty member of the Human Resources for Health Rwanda program.
Dr. Marie is currentlya member of the American Dental Association (ADA), a delegate to the Maryland State Dental Association (MSDA), House of Delegates, Treasurer of the Harford-Cecil DentalSociety,member of the Academy of General Dentistry and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society. Her background has enabled her to keep up with the latest research and the newest techniques so she can offer the best and most conservative treatment options.
Dr. Joseph Gwiazdowskiattended LaSalle University and was a member of the AED premedical honor society. He attended the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry in 1977. After graduation he served as a dental officer inthe United StatesAir Force,first atHoward Air Force Base inPanama and then atAndrews Air Force Base,locatedjustoutside ofWashington D.C. He moved to North East, MD in 1981 and has been practicing there since.
Dr. Joe is currentlya member of the American Dental Association (ADA),a delegate of the Maryland State Dental Societyanda formerpresident of the Harford-Cecil DentalSociety. He is also a member of the Academy of GP Orthodontics.

I finally got my daughter and I both scheduled together for another round of cleanings/ examinations and Lauren, the hygienist and Dr. Johnson were both so accommodating and patient with my less than eager little girl. Lauren was very thorough with my own cleaning with an incredibly kind and genuinely interested personality, which helped put my daughter at ease when it was her turn to hop in the chair. Although I was hoping the TV playing Paw Patrol would be enough to lure her, we resorted to me holding her in the chair. Lauren calmly explained everything she was doing, letting her smell her special toothpaste and being patient while working as efficiently as possible. Very kind that they give the kids prizes and personal pan pizza certificates too, so hopefully it will be even smoother next time!

Everyone was so kind and caring! My son started going to the dentist regularly at age 4 but he wouldn't let anyone touch his teeth. This office staff has been working with him for the last few years and he now let's them do whatever they want! Still to this day he had no idea he had a shot of numbing to do a filling! They are that good! I tell everyone about this office and staff!

Going to the dentist is a quick and pleasant experience at North East Family Dentistry. I have been going there for over 15 years, and have always been impressed with the efficiency and the good care they provide. Always on time, good care, and friendly staff makes for a great trip to the dentist. I always get a good teeth cleaning and If I have any problems, they quickly identify them and take care to remedy them quickly.

I wouldn't normally think to say that I look forward to my dental appointments, but NEFD makes the trip worth taking. I love their customer service and appreciate that they take the time to know their patients. I am a nervous patient so they hold my hand throughout my appointments from cleanings to cavity fillings! This is why my entire family have been coming to see them for years now.

When I was a kid, going to the dentist was a nightmare. I can't express how thankful I am that my daughter doesn't have to go through that same experience. The people at North East Family Dentistry are all so very kind, and excellent at what they do. To top it all off, the prices are reasonable.
