Q: Which type of toothbrush should I use? A: The brand of the toothbrush is not as critical as the type of bristle and the size of the head. A soft toothbrush with a small head is recommended because medium and hard brushes tend to cause irritation and contribute to recession of the gums, and a small head allows you to get around each tooth more completely and is less likely to injure your gums. Its unnecessary to scrub the teeth as long as you are brushing at least twice a day and visiting your dentist at least twice a year for cleanings.

Q: Is one toothpaste better than others? A: Generally, no. However, its advisable to use a fluoride containing toothpaste to decrease the incidence of dental decay. We recommend our patients use what tastes good to them as long as it contains fluoride.

Q: How often should I floss? A: Flossing of the teeth once per day helps to prevent cavities from forming between the teeth where your toothbrush cant reach. Flossing also helps to keep your gums healthy.

Q: Whats the difference between a crown and a cap? A: These are restorations to repair a severely broken tooth by covering all or most of the tooth after removing old fillings, fractured tooth structure, and all decay. The restoration material is made of gold, porcelain, composites, or even stainless steel. Dentists refer to all of these restorations as crowns. However, patients often refer to the tooth-colored ones as caps and the gold or stainless-steel ones as crowns.

Q: Whats the difference between a bridge and a partial denture? A: Both bridges and partial dentures replace missing teeth. A bridge is permanently attached to abutment teeth or, in some cases, implants. A partial denture is attached by clasps to the teeth and is easily removed by the patient. Patients are usually more satisfied with bridges than with partial dentures.

Q: What about silver fillings versus white fillings? A: Although the U.S. Public Health Service issued a report in 1993 stating there is no health reason not to use amalgam (silver fillings), more patients today are requesting white or tooth-colored composite fillings. We also prefer tooth-colored fillings because they bond to the tooth structure and therefore help strengthen a tooth weakened by decay. While fillings are also usually less sensitive to temperature, and they also look better. However, white fillings cannot be used in every situation, and if a tooth is very badly broken-down, a crown will usually be necessary and provide better overall satisfaction for the patient.

Q: Do I need to have a root canal just because I have to have a crown? A: No. While most teeth which have had root canal treatments do need crowns to strengthen the teeth and to return the teeth to normal form and function, not every tooth needing a crown also needs to have a root canal.

Very shady and untrustworthy people! Had a bad crown replaced, they messed it up and didn't tell me. I check with another place and they say the crown has to be replaced immediately. I contact North County Dental Specialties, they review the xrays and tell me to come in to have the crown redone, no thanks! Tell them I wanted a refund, they agreed, but I have yet to receive my refund. STAY AWAY!!!

I would not recommend this place at all. One of the receptionist was very rude to me. She kept snapping at me on the phone. It did not matter how nicely I would talk to her. I was not able to get hold of some one else to express my concerns to over the phone so I wrote a letter describing my situation, but no reply. When it was time for me appointment I mentioned what happened to the dentist and he gave me no comments. The dentist started to work on my tooth which he would evaluate if it could be saved or not. He basically jackhammered my tooth with full force for 2 minutes got up and said I can not save your tooth and he left. I had this rubber tent applied to my mouth for the treatment and he left me like that so I would not be able to ask any questions. It was really awkward so I wanted to express my concern on here to share. They told me that I needed to pull the tooth and a implant would be $5700 to put in. Quite a chock. I Googled a dentist in Mexico w good reviews and went there. In Mexico it will be $2000 so a lot less. The dentist in Mexico looked at my tooth and discovered that all I needed was a root canal. I am shocked. I could have ended up loosing my tooth if I would have stayed on treatment with North County Dental Specialties.

This has to be the worst Dentist/Orthodontist available. The staff is very very unprofessional, uncaring, and rude. They never answer the phone, and fail to call you back when you leave a message. I had a 12:30 appointment. When I arrived they did not have any of my insurance information even though I provided them all my insurance over the phone when I originally made the appointment. They sat me down in a room, and I waited their for 51 minutes. Nobody came by to let me know that they were behind that day, I had to go to the front desk and ask if I was going to be seen. The "manager" looked up and told me they were behind while holding her cell phone with two hands and typing something. The doctor finally saw me. He didn't really seem to care about me, I felt like he just wanted to get it done to move onto the next patient. After he was finished I sat their for another 23 minutes only for one of the receptionists to come and tell me that I was ok to go home now because they didn't have time to call my insurance. They did not give me any info on the treatment plan or cost at all. I asked them when I would receive my treatment plan and cost, and they said they would email it to me the next day no later than 2pm. The next day came, nothing. I went over there at 2pm and they were closed while they had a big sign in the front window that read "Open Come In". No email, No phone call, Nothing... don't waste your time or money here.

waited over two hours for a referral and they couldn't even give me one. I came in for a consultation and arrived early, 30 minutes after my appointment time, they led me into a room and left me there for another hour without checking back in or telling me anything. The doctor finally comes in, takes an x ray then leaves for another 30 minutes before telling me I need to go to another office, but they didn't have a referral for me and just sent me off.

A great place to go take care of your teeth. The staff is very professional and accommodating. Dr. Conway is awesome! She puts me at ease, since I'm terribly nervous at the dentist. I also had a periodontal root cleaning and Bethany did a great job, I felt that I was in good hands. All the people here were very gentle and kind. Will definitely be coming back!

I've had my consultation rescheduled 3 times due to "emergencies" that are occurring at the office. I understand emergencies happen but 3 times? I finally came into my appointment scheduled for today but the receptionist told me that my appointment has been rescheduled without my knowledge and they claim to have had called me about it. They claimed that the calls they made were experiencing busy tones and no answers. I did not receive a phone call or voicemail with the change of date. Unacceptable customer service.

I was in a ton of pain caused by my wisdom tooth and had called a couple oral surgeons to try to get an appointment as soon as possible. The two offices I had called said I had to come in for a consultation first then they could schedule a future appointment to get them extracted. Called NCDS and they were able get me in right away and extracted my two wisdom teeth that same day. The receptionist that answered the phone was really nice and got me in right away. I am so thankful to be out of pain. I would definitely recommend this office to anyone that needs their wisdom teeth out! Getting my wisdom teeth didn't even hurt as bad as I thought it would!

As a mother with a very busy schedule, I was grateful to find an office that can meet all my families needs. The fact that I was able to have my daughter get her regular check ups (Dr. Conway), get braces (Dr Adams) and get her wisdom teeth out (DR Karimi) all at the same office has been a time saver. The office staff has always been pleasant and explain everything to us. We finally found an office that fits our needs and gives us the best care.

Wow! I had one amazing experience at this office. The front staff was very friendly and welcoming. The assistant Marisol who brought me back greeted me and explained everything she was going to do. Then I met Dr. Conway what a warm, friendly and down to earth doctor. She explained all my treatment, so I cleary understood what I needed. I will definitely be returning! As well as recommending it to my family and friends. Everyone from the front to the back made me feel comfortable.

The front desk is unprofessional. The dentist's image is being reflected poorly due to front desk staff attitudes, especially Joanna. I would not bother with this dentist's office.

I scheduled my son to have his wisdom teeth extracted and had to reschedule due to graduation ceremony conflicts as well as covid19. We gave plenty of notice. The next time we were scheduled I became very sick and called two hours before appt time to inform. Due to the virus I didnt want to take a chance being contagious. I called the following week to try and reschedule again, But was informed that we were dismissed from the clinic. The office manager Joanna told me this was not true and that she would schedule us again. Every time I called or left a message ( they rarely pick up the phone) no one ever called me back! Very unprofessional behavior and actually due to my son's impacted tooth they caused him more suffering as we had to find another clinic and wait again for authorisation. Stay away from NCDS!
