Registered Dental Hygienist I enjoy meeting and learning who our patients are, and hearing about their lives and families. I especially like working with patients whove avoided dental care for some time: together, we move their mouth from unhealthy to healthy and return their smile!
I work one-to-one with patients: taking X-rays, screening for oral cancer, and providing preventive and maintenance care with cleanings and fluoride treatments. A lot of my day is spent teaching patients about their oral health and empowering them to make positive changes.
My husband Russel and I have been married for 35 years. We have three children Vanessa, Victoria, and Ryan and six wonderful grandchildren. When Im not at Nortey Dental, I help take care of my autistic grandchildren. I also love to read, watch good movies, and enjoy life.
Certified Dental Assistant I enjoy making people smile and helping patients feel safe and at home in our office. I love taking what can be a stressful experience and turning it into one thats positive and relaxing, and has our patient smiling and looking forward to coming back!
I set up the treatment room, seat our patient, and prepare him or her to see Dr. Lokko. Working chairside, I assist Dr. Lokko and act as a second pair of hands while supporting our patient. When were finished, I provide homecare instruction, answer questions, and make sure our patient is happy with what weve done. I also assist Cynthia when she needs me.
Dr. Nii Lokko graduated from Luther College, where he completed a Bachelor of Arts in biology. He attended Tufts University in Boston, and graduated with a Doctorate of Dental Medicine. Dr. Lokko remained at Tufts to complete a rigorous general practice residency.
Dr. Lokko is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Maine Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. Through these organizations, hes able to take a variety of postgraduate courses, and continue to learn from the leading researchers and practitioners in the field.
Dr. Lokko and his wife Zenobia have two children, a son & a daughter. When hes not dreaming of flying kites, Dr. Lokko can be found playing soccer, following his kids to their games to support their activities, and relaxing with loved ones.

May 14th, 2022: It has now been about 4 years since my first and only visit to Nortey Dental, which is detailed below. Since that visit I have had my teeth cleaned twice a year and x-rays taken on each occasion. I never make mention to anyone of the Nortey dentist saying that I needed a crown or root canal until the dentist has had a chance to review my x-rays, look at my teeth, finish up, and then ask me if I have any questions. It is only then that I mention that the Nortey Dental dentist stated that I needed a crown or root canal on my rear molar. Each dentist has then taken the time to reexamine the xrays and examine the specific molar in question and each has stated absolutely not, not remotely so. Almost all have said you just went to some guy looking for some quick insurance money! And this is 4 years after my Nortey Dental examination! Enter at your own risk and by all means get another opinion or two if you're told that you need a very expensive procedure by the Nortey dentist! Original review: This review is about Nortey Dental in Wells, Maine. I scheduled an appointment at Nortey Dental strictly for a cleaning and nothing more. While cleaning my teeth I was continously pressured by the technician to have wing x-rays of my molars, I repeatedly said no and she simply would not stop. They actually have a sign strategically placed very high on a wall which is all you can basically see while reclined regarding your need to have x-rays for a "proper" dental examination (which I didn't either want, need, or schedule). So while you're being harassed by the cleaning tech while she's cleaning your teeth to have xrays done, the sign can be clearly seen by the patient. Well, I finally gave in to her incessant whining and had the x-rays done, which then, of course, triggers the need to have their dentist examine you, so now double cha-ching, cha-ching, with Nortey Dental now collecting for three different dental services: cleaning, x-rays, and a dental examination by the dentist. Worse yet, I was only seen by the dentist for at about 5 minutes max, which was mostly taken up by his greeting, introduction, and rehearsed pleasantries. HE TOLD ME I NEEDED AT THE VERY LEAST A CROWN AND MOST LIKELY A ROOT CANAL ON A REAR MOLAR, EVEN THOUGH I HAD NO PAIN OR SYMPTOMS WHATSOEVER..! In whole, it was quite a condescending experience put on by a staff trained to maximize the amount of services and $$$ that they can squeeze out of your insurance company! Also, be forwarned that without asking for your permission, a Nortey Dental staff member will basically sneak up on you while you're not looking and attempt to take pictures of you -- so much for patient privacy! Lastly, the cleaning that I received was horrible and the worst that I've ever received in over 50+ years! In every past cleaning that I've had elsewhere, I have always been able to floss my teeth smoothly and without hang-ups. Not so after this cleaning, as I am still breaking floss on many, many rough patches left uncleaned on my teeth. Given my experience, I would ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMEND NORTEY DENTAL FOR EVEN THE BASIC OF PROCEDURES, as maximizing profit is foremost in its business model. That, and its seeming inability to perform a basic dental procedure such as a routine cleaning. May 25th Update: I have now seen two, 50+ year old, extremely experienced dentists (one a personal friend) since my above referenced Nortey Dental appointment. In the first of two, conducted by him, I had my teeth cleaned again. I spoke to my hygienist about having my teeth cleaned (by Nortey) while I was traveling and after examining my teeth she told me that it was the worst cleaning she had ever seen. I also had xrays taken and my regular dentist stated that I had no issues whatsoever. Returning home I noted that I had no problems flossing anymore as my teeth were now actually clean, versus how they were after my Nortey cleaning. Bottom line -- I stand by my original review.

I had an unfortunate experience with Dr Lokko. He took an impression for a crown, and it took them about a month to have it ready only to realize in my second visit that despite spending a lot of time adjusting it, Dr Lokko cannot place the crown and the impression has to be redone! So I waited a few more weeks for the second crown to be prepared and the new one couldn't be installed either! Wow! I took the SAME CROWN in a box to the office of another dentist who could place it in a couple of minutes. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend them because of all the hassle for a relatively simple procedure. Even if there was no issue with the crown placement, waiting about a month for it to be delivered from the lab is not acceptable.

I wish there were more stars - that's how wonderful Dr. Loko and his team are. I had a fractured root canal tooth that became infected. Dr. Loko is so gentle and patient that I didn't even feel the novocaine. He had to remove two separate pieces of the tooth and then clean the bone. I never had any pain during the extraction or during the healing process that is how thorough he was. We have recently moved from Wells to southern New Hampshire and if I could I would like to talk him into opening his practice in my home town of Keene,NH. Not only is he a wonderful dentist but he is truly a wonderful human being. I wish I had known that one could write a review - I would have posted this much sooner. This kind of CARE deserves much recognition.

I worked in the dental field for 41 years in Los Angeles before moving to Maine 5 years ago. Needless to say I was very nervous to find a new dentist without knowing anything about them. Dr Lokko's office is only about 2 miles from my home so I thought I'd give them a try. I started with the hygienist, Cindy. She was wonderful! Obviously I'm pretty picky about my cleanings & dentistry after having years of first hand experience. I've been seeing Cindy ever since & saw Dr Lokko only for brief exams, having x rays when necessary. Recently, I had a tooth that I could tell had a fracture due to my symptoms. I made an appointment with Dr Lokko to take a look & decided the tooth needed a crown which I expected. I can't rave enough about Dr Lokko's chair-side manner, his skill in preparing the tooth for the crown, making sure I was comfortable, & fitting me with a temporary crown until the permanent one could be made. Dr Lokko's assistant, Tracy, is highly skilled, professional, & has a warm, calming, personality. I'm not the nervous type in the dental chair but many people are in my experience. The temporary crown was so comfortable I could barely tell it wasn't permanent! I had the permanent crown cemented a few days ago & the tooth feels great. Any concerns I had about my new dentist were undone. I'm so grateful I found Dr Lokko & his fantastic staff.

Dr. Loko and his team are the best dental team I've ever met. They are so courteous and respectful to their patients. The office is clean and you feel safe there, the staff asks you how you are doing and they are very efficient.

I am from Florida. I knew no dentist in this area. I found Nortey Dental by searching on line. I was very impressed with Dr. Lokko. My experience there was wonderful. He and his staff were extremely professional and caring. I received excellent care. He referred me to LeeAnn Cote, DMD for a root canal. She took excellent care of me also. I cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Lokko. If you are looking for a great dentist look no further. You will NOT be disappointed. He is wonderful ~ and provides superior dental care. If you need a dentist this is the place to go. The office is immaculate. Tracy the receptionist is fabulous. Dr. Lokko is amazing. He pulled my tooth and I never felt a thing. I was waiting for some pain or something and he told me it was done. Thank you both for a pleasant experience that I never thought was possible. I highly recommend Nortey Dental. Lorraine
