Dr. Pomerance earned his dental degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 1977. He completed his undergraduate work in the School of Pharmacy, also at the University of Michigan. After graduating from dental school fifth in his class of one hundred fifty, he moved to New York City, where he successfully completed an extensive, hospital-based General Practice Residency. After practicing dentistry in New York City for an additional two years, he moved to Los Angeles, CA, where he practiced dentistry until 1995.
In 1995, Dr. Pomerance decided to move to Denton, Texas, making this area home. Dr. Pomerance enjoys all areas of dentistry but has a special interest in cosmetic procedures and implants. Dr. Pomerance updates his clinical skills annually with continuing education courses. In conjunction with his patient-oriented philosophy, he continually updates his office with the most recent equipment available.
He has volunteered for many community based organizations, including the United Way, where he served on the Caring Way allocation committee, as the Dental Liaison for the Success by 6 program, as the head of the school-based Dental Sealant Program, and the community coordinator of other various dental programs.

Back in May I had an issue with my wisdom teeth that required a holiday weekend emergency call. Dr. Mangum was quick to call me back and phone in the prescriptions I needed. I've been a patient of Dr. Pomerance for about four years and just saw Dr. Mangum for the first time this month. Office staff is fast, hygienists are always great with their cleanings, and Dr. Mangum holds the same professionalism that Dr. Pomerance provided.

I have been going to the same dentist for the past 13 years and needed to find a new dentist after moving to Denton in 2019. Dr. Pomerance's office took excellent care of me- everyone was organized, professional, and friendly. Would highly recommend to anyone in the area. Update: just had my first visit with Dr. Mangum and he and his crew are excellent as well.

Oct.24, 2022 Another wonderful visit! Bree did a great job cleaning my teeth! I met Dr. Mangum and he was very friendly and made me feel comfortable.Sarah at the front desk was outstanding as usual! July 26th, 2022. I was a little nervous knowing some of the staff retired but everything was great. Sara at the front desk is wonderful and the dental assistant( sorry can't remember her name) even checked on me and made sure I was at ease with the changes. My new dental hygienist was sweet and calming. I also was able to congratulate Dr.P on his retirement. I did shed a tear because he will be missed! Once again the staff was top notch! I was told I needed a crown. I am going through a rough time right now in my life and I was a little overwhelmed when told the price without insurance. Sara at the front desk was overly kind and made me feel so much better. I wouldn't want to go anywhere else. From the moment I walk in until the time I leave every person in there impresses me in some way! Tuesday Sept 14th at my dentist appointment Dr. Pomerance's staff were top notch as always! Can't say enough good things about this office. Amanda was my hygienist and she was so nice, so thorough, and made me feel very comfortable after having a very poor experience somewhere else. Dr Magnum was also very nice and I appreciate that he has a more reserved approach and isn't just recommending a bunch of things just to make more money. The whole staff I interacted with was so nice, and very helpful. Highly recommend.

From scheduling with Sarah, to getting my X-rays, exam and cleaning done, everything was perfect! Everyone took their time to explain everything in detail! The X-ray tech was so kind and so was the hygienist that did my cleaning! Dr. Magnum Was amazing too. Didn't ever feel rushed or like a "number" just getting pushed through! Definitely will be my dentist office moving forward!

I have had the best dental experiences of my life during three appointments at this location. Beyond exam and x-rays, I was seen by Norman & Jennifer for periodontal work which was performed amazingly well; they gave me great results with minimal discomfort. Without fail, every person at the office was professional with a kind & friendly demeanor. From start to finish, they were the epitome of excellence. I recommend them highly for anyone that is looking for a new dentist in the Denton area. ********** After my initial review (see above) at the beginning of this year, I went back this summer for a couple fillings and to have a lesion removed. The new dentist Mangum worked on me this time. He had a great attitude and did very well removing the lesion. However, I believe he made a mistake on my filling. I was in pain for several days after getting it done and made another appointment. He looked at it and told me to take ibuprofen and that it should heal after a while. He did not charge me for this second visit. It has now been another couple months, and I am still in pain and taking OTC painkillers at least twice a day. I'm in the process of setting up another appointment, but my review has changed from 5-stars to 3-stars (he did do a good job on the lesion removal & they didn't charge for looking at it the second time). Considering their past professionalism, I'm hopeful that they'll be able to fix the issue at my next visit. Edited: 9/15/2022

So glad to have Dr Mangum in Denton! I developed a tooth ache and he was able to get me in right away. I needed a crown, still can't believe I got in and received a temporary crown same day. It was absolutely a painless experience! I highly recommend you and your family see him for your dental needs. Lori and I have been seeing him for several years in Frisco and have always been very happy with him and his team.
