We are a dental office limited toorofacial pain, orthodontics, anddental medicine. We are a tertiary treatment center for TMJ, specializing in advanced therapeutics using principles of neuromuscular dentistry. Northern CaliforniaCranio-Facial Diagnostic Center has been in Alameda (the San Francisco Bay Area / East Bay) and Sutter Creek (Gold Country) since 1986. We provide services to Alameda, Oakland, San Francisco, San Jose, and all of Northern California. We provide rare expertise and specialization in orofacial pain and TMJ dentistry. A significant percentage of our practice comes from more than 50 miles away. A large number of our patients fly in to Oakland International Airport as our office is only 5 minutes away.

We provide treatmentfor a wide range of dysfunctions that occur as a result of jaw misalignment. Our primary treatment is with removable dental appliances, almost neverinvolving surgery. With these appliances we are able to align the jaw and teeth and resolve many medical complaints. Through advanced jaw orthopedic techniques Dr. Jennings, a TMJ specialist, is able to treat many cases non-surgically that have been recommended for orthognathic surgery or TMJ surgery. We use traditional braces in some instances to treat orthodontically and finish our cases.

pain management and non-surgical orthodonticsfor 35 years. He is a TMJ doctor that has developed a number of innovative diagnostic and treatment protocols that have significantly improved the effectiveness of treatment for jaw dysfunction and a wide number of muscle disorders. He has done extensive literature research into the neuro-pathology involved with jaw dysfunction, providing a clearer understanding of this complex disorder. His experience with pain patients has significantly altered his opinions and approach in the treatment of orthodontic patients, almost always opting for non-surgical orthodontics and alternative therapies for orthognathic surgery.

Dr. Dwight Jennings is a dentist and TMJ Specialist with expertise in treating orofacial pain, non-surgical orthodontics, and dental orthopedics. Dwight has been practicing neuromuscular dentistry for over 25 years, and has been involved in clinical research and creating new therapies for a large number of medical and developmental disorders that are associated with TMJ, jaw/bite misalignment, and high levels of systemic inflammation caused by the pain neurotransmitter, substance P.

Dr. Jennings is not your normal dentist. In fact, Dwight I would say youre an abnormal dentist in the most complimentary way of that. You might have heard me mention just on a few podcasts that Ive done something to face or to my jaw alignment. Dr. Jennings is the guy who masterminded this.

I've had many appointments over the years with him, and he's helped to realign my teeth, and jaw a lot. He does this by giving you appliances that adjust your teeth/jaws over a period of time. No rubber bands involved! I would give him 5 stars, but I have one problem. My only complaint with his office is his assistant, Pasha. She has a real chip on her shoulder and takes it out on me. Pasha bosses me around when I didn't have my folder even though Dr. Jennings had it. Along with yelling at me to take out the blue stuff she squirted into my mouth despite the previous employees having no problem taking it out even during the lockdown. If she is truly scared about the coronavirus, why is she working at a place where you have to interact with the patient's mouth? She is obviously looking for trouble, and she made it personal by only going after me. Until the boss gets that employee under control, or hires someone else, I won't give 5 stars.

I went to Dr. Jennings for several months for TMJ pain. He said he was going to moved my jaw to reposition my joins to be pain free and Instead my occlusion changed tremendously and I ended up worse with more pain!!! Also, I never received any money for reimbursement from my insurance so the claims are not proper manage either. Very calm Doctor, Sounds secure, and I trusted him so my husband. After 3+ years I am still in pain and worse.

Dr Jennings and his team saved the life of my child. We live in the UK. I have a 17 year old (then 15) previously athletic sporty daughter who was in an unexplained terminal decline with multiple symptoms, global severe pain and bed bound. No one in the Uk could help. We were recommended to Dr Jennings via a craniologist physio in NY who had tried to help us. Now almost two years later she is back on her feet, going cycling, canoeing, socialising and getting back to her studies. Her problem was diagnosed as a jaw and cranial misalignment that was causing very elevated substance p levels from an over stimulated tremgenival nerve. The treatment involved appliances to move the jaw forward into the correct position and to then realign the teeth correctly to provide positive sensory system feed back. We are about 50% of the way through the process and she is improving most of the time with the odd set back now and again. Without this service she wouldn't be here. I would like to add that the whole team are a pleasure to deal with. Thank you to all of you.

There is no one like dr. Jennings. If you have tmj, Parkinson's or even cancer please read dr. Js interviews on increased substance p. Substance p is the body wide inflammatory marker that is increased and signaled by the brain when the jaw is out of alignment and the tmj joints misfire. Fix your jaw alignment and this decreases substance b to more normal levels which remisses your health issue. I've been a patient for 2 years. This was life saving treatment for me.

I have chronic face pain probably caused by dental trauma. At my first consult with Dr. Jennings he felt there was over a 90% chance he could help me and that the course of treatment would be approximately 6-9 months. Five years latter I was still in treatment and my condition had deteriorated. I would still be seeing him today if I had not come to my own realization that he was and had not been helping me for most of the years I had been driving from Santa Rosa to Alameda to see him! While he and his office were attentive, his communication is poor and he seems to lack a realistic view of what he can and can not do. Did he exploit my situation for his own benefit? I can not know his intentions but I nevertheless feel taken advantage of.

I started seeing Dr. Jennings over 4 years ago for TMJ treatment after seeing him on Bulletproof podcast. Dr. Jennings has changed my life. I have seen many different TMJ specialists without any relief. Within first several visits I got relief from the TMJ pain and then further into the treatment my hormone migraines and sensitivities significantly reduced so that I could function during this time of my cycle. I now bring my son to see Dr. Jennings for preventive treatment.

I have chronic TMJ disorder and went to Dr. Jennings office 10 times from Sept. 2018 - Feb 2019 to seek treatment for malocclusion. I spent ~$260 / visit + $2,300 for the creation of a double-block day-time appliance (google it). Despite this investment, I found no symptom relief and only had symptoms get worse - my head aches turned into migraines when I first started using the appliance. The frustrating part was the way information was distributed. In my initial consultation, I was informed that after receiving the appliance, my pain would go away in 2 weeks and my post nasal drip would stop in about the same time. I also asked what would happen if I didn't embark on this treatment plan, to which he responded that I would see ever increasing symptoms and health issues and could even develop lymphoma. This pitch convinced me to begin treatment. After 2 weeks my pain was still present and each subsequent visit there was another reason for why my symptoms were not improving. He eventually let me know that in about 40% of patients a night appliance is also necessary (~$350). So I paid for that to be made, however it never fit my mouth very well, and also offered no relief. No doubt this treatment plan works for some, but in my case it did not help and I disliked the lack of transparency in the way this office is run. It seems that their priority is ensuring continual payment rather than progress in treating their patients. As a note to others suffering from TMJD - I have found pain relief in physical therapy. Hiten Dave of Back on Track in Walnut Creek helped relieve pain quickly and taught me stretches which I can do on my own which help as well. I've learned that this condition cannot be solved with a singular treatment, and I would be wary of anyone who claims that it can.
