Since 1982, Dr. James Nicholson has been providing his patients with exceptional comprehensive orthodontic care. Highly educated, he attended DePauw University before obtaining his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1976. He then served with the U.S. Navy Dental Corps in Italy. After his tour of duty, Dr. Nicholson earned his Master of Science in Orthodontics from Northwestern University in 1982.
Dr. Nicholson feels it is important to stay on the cutting-edge of orthodontics. Thus, he maintains memberships in many prestigious professional organizations to keep up-to-date on the latest techniques and technology. He is currently a member of the American Association of Orthodontics, Indiana Dental Society, Implant Restorative Study Club, a charter member of the Hoosier Orthodontic Forum Study Club, and founded the Brick Street Study Club.
Dr. Nick knew he wanted to be an orthodontist from an early age. To him, the profession provides the perfect combination of personal interaction, community involvement, health sciences, and use of his natural attention to detail. He feels fortunate to be part of such an esteemed field.
Dr. Nick graduated from Indiana University and received his dental training at Indiana University School of Dentistry. He attended the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine, where he received a Certificate of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and a Master of Science in Dentistry.
Along with Dr. Nicholson, Dr. Nick is a member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontics, Great Lakes Association of Orthodontists, and the Indiana Association of Orthodontists.
His training provided him with comprehensive knowledge using the most current, respected philosophies in orthodontics. He believes a coordinated team approach amongst dental professionals is essential in properly treating patients and maintaining their oral health. Dr. Nick takes great joy in getting to know the patients, families, and colleagues that make this such a wonderful place to practice.
Tammys job entails a little bit of everything! She is the person who keeps the office running smoothly day-to-day. She began working for the office in 1980 and Dr. Nicholson inherited her when he came in 1982. She is very fortunate he has kept her around! Tammy went to Walker Career Center for her dental assisting training during high school and was able to work at the same time. She loves every aspect of our office, from meeting with patients and parents to working every day with the staff. She says our staff is like a family and we strive to treat our patients the same way. Tammy has been married for over 38 years and has 3 sons, 3 daughters in law, and 4 grandchildren. She enjoys spending time with her family as much as possible. Tammy also loves camping, traveling, riding bikes, going to Colts games and spending time with her grandkids and going to their sporting events.
Ashley loves coffee, fall (it really is the best season!), reading, floating in the pool, hitting the gym, going on vacation, and spending time with her daughters and boyfriend. They live on the south side of Indy with their dog, Kobe, and cat, Milo.
Brandi is a graduate of the IU Dental Assisting program and is X-ray certified. She started working in the dental field in 1996 with Dr. Nicholson and her favorite part of her job has always been the same! She loves treating the young kids and watching them grow up into teenagers. She thinks its really neat watching all the changes they go through, including the progression of their smile! She was a part of the Nicholson Orthodontics team many years ago and rejoined our team in 2010. Brandi and her husband have teenage twins, two dogs, and two cats and enjoy spending their free time outdoors hiking, boating and enjoying the scenery. She also loves to travel, especially to the beach! Brandi has known Dr. Nicholson for many years and says that he is the best boss around! She says that he is so caring, honest, and absolutely loves his patients and staff like family! Brandi loves how our team works together and really works hard to engage with every patient during their visits in our office.
Michelle is a graduate of Kaplan College with a certificate in dental assisting and is X-ray certified. She joined our team in 2010. Michelles favorite part of her job is interacting with patients and getting to know them. She is from the Lebanon area and many times if Dr. Nicholson or Dr. Brassard areunavailable on evenings and weekends, she is the one on-call.
Taylor joined the team in 2015 when she finished the IU dental assisting program. She loves coming to work and seeing the progression and change in patients smiles throughout treatment. Taylor says her favorite part of work is the way the team works so great together. Taylor and her husband Justin have a daughter and a son. Most of her weekends are spent either playing flag football or watching her husband or stepson play sports.
Renee started working in the dental field in 1994. She joined our team in 2016 as an orthodontic assistant. She loves seeing the results when patients finish treatment. Renee has known Dr. Nicholson for many years and loves the energy he brings to the office every day. Renee lives here in Zionsville with her daughter and two dogs. You can find her outdoors swimming, camping, boating or hiking in her free time. Her favorite season is definitely summer!
Mattie is the newest member of Nicholson Orthodontics! She just began her dental career and is excited to get to learn alongside so many experienced assistants. She is most looking forward to learning everything there is to know about orthodontics! She loves to get to know the patients and help them through their treatment. Mattie loves to spend time with her family and friends. You can find her boating at the lake during the summer months (which is her favorite season!) or roller skating at the local roller skating rink.
Margy is a graduate of Ball State and was a nurse in the Navy for five years. She has many job descriptions in the office, from filling in for office staff and the Brace Bus driver to running errands. She also does the marketing for the practice. She enjoys meeting the other doctors and their staff, and she knows many of our patients and parents.
Nancy is one of the first faces you see when you enter our office! Since the beginning of the pandemic, Nancy has been our greeter. She checks patients in, takes their temperature, and seats them in the clinic. She is most known for being our Brace Bus driver which we have started offering as a service again in Fall 2021. Nancy loves working with the patients and getting to know them on a personal level as they go through treatment. Nancy is married and has two adult daughters and one wild cat. She and her husband have lived in Zionsville for 30 years. Whether shes walking, hiking, or gardening, Nancy loves spending her free time outdoors. She loves to go to outdoor concerts and botanical gardens. Sewing is also a huge part of Nancys life. She always has at least one or more projects going at a time. Sometimes you can even find her working on her projects in the waiting room!
