Dr. Nicholas Gardner is a North Country native that has practiced dentistry in Gouverneur since 2005. Growing up in Rossie, Dr. Gardner, starting at age 12, told his family, friends and anyone that would listen about his dreams of becoming a dentist. Nick earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Biology from Le Moyne College just one month before marrying Jennifer (Hadlock) Gardner in June of 1998.
Dr. Gardner earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in May of 2004. Moving back to New York, he completed a one year General Practice Residency at The University of Rochesters Strong Memorial Hospital.
Doctor Gardner is dedicated to improving the health and well being of the patients who have and will choose him as their dentist. He has shown this dedication through a commitment to advance his knowledge by completing the core continuum and still pursuing further training at the prestigious Dawson Academy. The Dawson Academy is comprised of a group of dentists that are committed to helping other dentists gain the skills needed to become a complete dentist.
In January of 2014, Dr. Gardner completed a two year orthodontics training continuum held in Toronto through The Academy of General Practice Orthodontics. This coursework included over 150 class hours and the successful treatment of five patients. After completing this coursework Dr Gardner was asked to host this same educational continuum in his Gouverneur practice. Starting in June of 2014 Dr. Gardner begins this next step in his orthodontic training and teaching journey.
Teaching has become a real passion for Dr. Gardner as he has deepened his involvement with the Dental Residency Program at SUNY Upstate in Syracuse. Dr. Nick has monthly lecture and clinical responsibilities with the residents at this exceptional teaching hospital.
In June of 2013, Dr. Gardner was awarded Fellowship in The Academy of General Dentistry. To be named a Fellow a dentist must complete 500 hours of Continuing Education and pass a 250 question exam covering all aspects of dentistry.
Living on the land where his father, grandfather and great-grandfather were raised Nick, Jennifer and their three sons Kennon, Nolan and Jensen and daughter Vivian, enjoy all of natures splendor and the strong community of friends that are at the heart of North Country living.
A long time healthcare provider Amanda graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh in 2004 with a Bachelors Degree in Biochemistry. She is a Certified Medical Laboratory Technologist as well as a Registered Dental Hygienist. Amanda completed her Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene at SUNY Canton in 2010.
Jelisa is a graduate of the SUNY Canton from the dental hygiene program. Jelisa grew up in Gouverneur and is happy to be back living with family and friends after her two years in Rome, NY as a Dental Hygiene student. A life long student Jelisa has trained at the Dawson Academy in order to offer more complete care to her patients.
She enjoys educating her patients about the importance of oral hygiene and helping patients achieve overall health.The most recent addition to Dr. Gardners team, Jelisa has helped the team become even better.
Stacey was born and raised in Gouverneur. After attending St. James Parochial School and graduating from Gouverneur Central, Stacey then went on to further her education at Onondaga Community College.
A North Country girl at heart Stacey moved back to Gouverneur in 2008 and has spent the last six years in her favorite role as Mom. While she has enjoyed the privilege of being a stay at home mom to her three beautiful children; Ella, Lee Henry and Emily, now that the kids are in school Stacey was eager to rejoin the workforce and help Dr Gardner and the rest of the team create healthy, gorgeous smiles for their patients.
The wealth of dental knowledge, caring spirit and quick wit that Stacey brings to the practice will certainly benefit the rest of Dr. Gardners team, more importantly Stacey will benefit those people who choose their care here at the offices of Nicholas F. Gardner DDS.
Doedi has been with Dr. Gardner since he began providing dental care in Gouverneur in September 2005. A North Country native, Doedi completed her studies at SUNY Canton and immediately began providing excellent service to her clients in the insurance industry.
Doedis face and voice have welcomed many patients over the years in her role as Treatment coordinator. With over 20 years of customer service and 15 years of management experience Doedi is an asset to the patients and team at Dr. Gardners.

I was hopeful because someone from out of town got in right away. But apparently that was not my luck. On top of they don't accept my insurance. Which is a plan that many low income people use in Gouverneur NY, so I'm not sure why our local dentists refuse to work with low income insurance providers. Seems a bit classist to me. Basically if you're in so much pain you're ready to kill yourself don't bother with this dentist. You won't get the relief you need unless you're rich or have fancy insurance. -_-

I used to be a big fan of Dr Gardner but the last time I was in his chair, he messed up my tooth bonding color and it took me nearly storming out crying for him to fix it and he didn't even fix it.. the color bonding he used was way too yellow and they even admitted that the company must have changed the formula or something because that was was he had down for what was used on me last time. I told him it was too yellow and SO noticeable and I started to cry to the assist, she finally got him back in the room, he told me I was "high maintenance" he took a little bit of the yellow bonding off of it and added a lighter color which might have worked if he did it correctly but it's still too yellow and it's so uneven and chipping. I know this isn't right because the first time he did this bonding, it lasted 2 years before I had an impact to it break it off. This time I've done nothing to it and it's only been a few short months. I told him it wasn't right, they said it was too close to closing to do anything else. I've called since.. They want to charge me to fix it again and I'm so heartbroken. They don't accept my insurance now and won't fix their mistake. I absolutely was in love I cried the first time he fixed it because my teeth looked beautiful he did such a good job, I left a sparkling review, I was so giddy, I couldn't stop smiling, and I was SO proud to say "go to Dr Gardner!"... but now it seems he really did not care about me at all or the work he did on my mouth. I don't really show my teeth anymore. It affects me a lot, daily. Pretty sure the whole experience has got to do with how I refuse to just do a crown, he just doesn't care and wants this to keep breaking down so I'll cave and do the more expensive procedure. But I cannot afford that. Especially now that they don't take my insurance. Hopefully I can find a better dentist with my new insurance. I'm so sad at my experience. Please make sure you're getting what you pay for...

This was my first visit to his office I was referred to by a friend who knew I wanted a second opinion. Not only did he give me his opinion but he also sat down with me talked about my headaches as well he is an amazing person and dentist!! He is now my dentist and my husbands as well! I felt very comfortable there the staff was amazing so nice n they listen to you just as much as he did!! If your looking for a new dentist like I was GO TO HIM!! You will be amazed!!

Emergency tooth extraction fit me right in no waiting Dr Gardner did a fantastic job. Extracted two infected molars. He was efficient and caring. Excellent courteous and caring staff.

I gotta say that I have been terrified to go to a dentist because I have had really bad experiences, but Dr. Gardner is amazing hands down! Definitely will make him my regular dentist.

I am from out-of-town and couldn't get home to my dentist. Dr. Gardner's staff was able to see me right away. I received excellent care. The office is in a restored Main Street building. It is well-equipped, very clean, and the people are amazingly friendly.

Definitely a 5 star rating! So helpful and just down to earth people. In and out as fast as possible but did what needed to be done with finesse and ease. I definitely recommend you try them out!
