The journey to becoming an orthodontist started at the University of Virginia, where I double majored.There, I met my husband, Dan, and we have been married since 2003. I completed my dental training, as well as my three-year Orthodontic residency at the University of Maryland Dental School.

Prior to joining Dr. Barnard, I worked in private practice for seven years. During that time, I honed my orthodontic skills, created countless beautiful smiles, and was fortunate to build wonderful relationships with my patients. Also, I was blessed with becoming the mother to three amazing kids.

The ABO is known for promoting excellence in our field and sets the standard for superlative patient care. Only about one third of orthodontists are certified by the ABO, so I am very honored to be a part of this elite group.

I always want to give the best care for my patients, so I am actively involved in continuing education courses for orthodontics. It is incredibly important to stay up-to-date with the most modern, yet proven, orthodontic techniques and technologies.

I also participate in courses with general dentists and other specialists for interdisciplinary care.This collaboration allows us to provide complete and comprehensive service for optimal results for our patients.

Additionally, I enjoy giving lectures to our dental community. While we teach, we ourselves learn has proven true to me both professionally and personally. I have lectured to dentists, dental specialists, and hygienists on topics including Early Orthodontic Treatment and Orthodontics for Interdisciplinary Care.

I absolutely love what I do. I even tell all of my patients to be orthodontists when they grow up! It is so rewarding to be able to work with people, not only making them smile, but actually building that smile for them.

Its an honor to be able to work with such funny and kind people, especially the kids. Im always happy to help give them beautiful smiles and love seeing shy middle-school kids that need braces turn into confident young adults.

Ive been practicing orthodontics for over 20wonderful years. I earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Nebraska in 1983. I went on to earn a masters degree in oral biology and an orthodontic certificate from Marquette University in 1985.

In order to provide the best service for my patients, Im constantly keeping current with new trends and technologies in orthodontics through continuing education. As part of my continuing education, I keep active as a member of the following professional organizations:

My wonderful wifeKelleyand I have lived in Omaha for the past 25 years, and are proud to say weve raised our five children in a wonderful community. We have coached soccer, volleyball, basketball, and baseball.We have also been very active in our parish and in our kids schools. In my spare time, I love to run, golf, bike, backpack, ski, and play guitar.

Away from the office, I love spending as much time as possible with my husband, Jim, and our two granddaughters. I also like being outdoors, whether Im camping, bicycling, hiking, or spending time at the pool with the grandchildren.

I recently joined the Nia Jones Orthodontics team in October 2020. I have 15 years of clinical experience and am now excited to work in this new position greeting and helping patients. I enjoy watching our patients progress as they come in for treatment. I am so grateful to work in a fun and caring enviornment where I can learn something new every day!

As the financial coordinator, I am responsible for all aspects of a patient's insurance and monetary responsibilities to the office. I work diligently at educating patientsabout their insurance coverage and work to maximize their benefits. I truly enjoy working in an office that is dedicated to providing the best orthodontic care.

When I'm not at the office, my husband and I enjoy anything outdoors, especiallyhiking with our daughter, Layla, and our dog, Maxwell. We also lovespending time with our family and, of course, Husker sports. Go Big Red!

Im responsible for assisting the doctorduring procedures and monthly adjustments. I also takeX-rays, do lab work, and sterilization. Most importaantly, I communicatewith patients and their families about theirtreatment progress. Getting to know our patients and their families, as well as seeing their smiles developare my favorite things about working here. We are a fun team and we always keep work entertaining!

My husband and I love to travel as much as possible. We are always planning our next vacation! We also love spending time with our son, Calvin, at ourfamilys lake house during the summer. I like to be outdoors,garden, read, and watch movies.

I work with our braces and Invisalign patients. I especially love working with all of the kids. It's so much fun to create their perfect smiles! We are an awesomebunch to work with andwe make the atmosphere fun. I love that weare all like family!
