Dr. Derek grew up in Arroyo Grande and now resides in Santa Maria with his wife, who is an orthodontist in town. He appreciates practicing in a tight-knit community and is pleased to help his patient family achieve and maintain functional, healthy smiles.
After graduating from La Sierra University, with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Exercise Science, he then attended Loma Linda University, obtaining his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS). Dr. Derek has practiced dentistry alongside his uncle, Dr. Daniel Ng, for five years, and is now the owner of Ng Dental Care.
Many of Dr. Derek's family are in healthcare. His wife, Dr. Thanh, is a practicing orthodontist here in Santa Maria.Dr. Ronald Ng (Dr. Derek's dad) and Dr. Daniel Ng (Dr. Derek's uncle) opened an optometry and dental office together in Santa Maria over 35 years ago. Dr. Derek's Cousin, Dr. Chris Ng is now the current owner of the Eyecare office.
For Dr. Derek, the most satisfying part is being part of a family-owned and operated practice, which has served the community for 35 years and is known for honest, conservative, thorough dentistry. He is glad to be part of the community and to have time to get to know each patient on a personal level while ensuring they achieve optimal oral health.
By completing hundreds of hours of continuing education, Dr. Derek stays updated on the latest techniques and information. Carefully evaluating new technologies, materials, and methodologies, he incorporates those which improve diagnostics, treatment, and outcome into his patients care.
After practicing dentistry at Ng Dental Care for 35 years, going to the office doesnt feel like going to work: instead, Im going to visit and spend time with staff and patients who are my friends and an extension of my family.
Born in Burma, Dr. Daniel Ng came to the United States and originally lived in San Francisco before settling down in Santa Maria and opening Ng Dental Care. He is pleased to have had the opportunity to serve this community and form lasting relationships with each of his patients.
Dr. Daniel attended the University of the Pacific School of Pharmacy and received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) through Howard University Dental School. He has practiced dentistry for 40 years, 35 of those years here at his family-owned and -operated office in Santa Maria.
His nephew, Dr. Derek Ng, now owns the practice and Dr. Daniel is proud to practice alongside him. They and their staff are dedicated to providing their patient family with honest, ethical dental care, and to ensuring healthy smiles fit with family budgets.
Through these organizations, Dr. Daniel has access to the latest research, as well as opportunities to learn through meetings, seminars, and lectures. Over his 40-year career, he has completed expansive continuing education in dentistry in order to provide the best, most comprehensive treatment possible.
Dr. Daniel has resided in Santa Maria for 35 years. In his free time he enjoys bicycling, as well as spending time with friends and family, including his wife Priscilla and their German Shepard dog, Mia.

While I've never received dental care here, I know Dr. Ng pretty well. In fact, I know him well enough to give my assurance to whole world wide web that he is exceptionally honest and competent in all that he does. You won't find healthy teeth being drilled here. Instead, you'll get conservative care from a true dental nerd who's up on the latest studies and hangs his hat on patient experience. And if you enjoy a hysterical, sarcastic sense of humor, well, then look no further for your new dentist. :)

The staff are always so nice and friendly. They are truly a good dental office that cares about their patients and their well-being. They are also very affordable if you don't have insurance like I did when I had my first appointment. I also always love visiting their beautiful aquarium in the waiting room.

My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Daniel Ng for over 30 years. His nephew, Dr. Derek Ng, has joined the dental practice in recent years. Besides being excellent dentists, both are concerned about patient comfort. The staff is also first rate. I highly recommend Ng & Ng for the best care.

I recently had a root canal done at there office in Santa Maria. Dr.Daniel, Priscilla, Dr.Derrick Ng, and the whole office treated me like family.. Dr.Derrick Ng performed my procedure, he even worked around my schedule ,(4:00pm). They even fitted me for a custom mouthpiece for my jujitsu training. Would recommend anyone who needs dental work, or just a cleaning..
