Dr. Richard Newman, a native of Livingston, went into private practice with his father, Dr. George Newman, in 1995. Dr. George established the practice more than 50 years ago and is internationally recognized as the first orthodontist to bond orthodontic braces to teeth. He is regarded as a pioneer of dental bonding and a leading innovator in modern orthodontics. Dr. Richard is proud to continue the tradition of his father, and is dedicated to providing the best quality of orthodontic care available.
Dr. Newman received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He graduated from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, which awarded his Doctorate of Dental Medicine with top honors, and he was elected to the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society. Dr. Newman received his specialty certificate in orthodontics from Columbia University in New York.
To continue his commitment to providing the highest level of orthodontic care to his patients, Dr. New man attends continuing education courses through Columbia University Orthodontic Alumni Study Group, Spear Study Group, and Seminars for the Advancement of Dental Excellence. Through this, he stays informed of the most up to date orthodontic techniques and advancements.
Dr. Newman strongly believes in giving back to the community. He is chief orthodontist for the Regional Craniofacial Center at Saint Barnabas Medical Center. As a member of this interdisciplinary team, Dr. Newman volunteers his time to provide care for individuals who suffer from cleft lip and palate problems. He has published articles in many professional journals, including the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. As chairman of Childrens Dental Health Month, Dr. Newman speaks to students at local schools about the importance of good oral hygiene.

Dr. Newman and office staff are excellent. Very professional and knowledgeable. Had my daughter's braces done here and went back for my own teeth as well. Was able to go with Invisalign and had my teeth straightened in a little over a year with great results.

Dr. Newman is THE BEST Orthodontist! I went to him to get Invisalign and my results were AMAZING! He explained the process to me in detail so that I knew exactly what to expect and made me feel very comfortable at every appointment. His Staff is so professional and friendly and the office is very clean! I would definitely recommend Dr. Newman if you need braces/Invisalign for you or your children. You won't be disappointed. He is the best there is.

Three fourths of our family has been to Dr. Newman for braces and Invisalign. Dr. Newman and his staff are fantastic! They are kind, caring and responsive. I just got fitted for my first set of Invisalign braces. So far I've had a great experience with Dr. Newman and his staff. His office hours worked with my busy work schedule. Dr. Newman has been working with my daughter since she was 18 months old. She was born with Pierre Robin Syndrome. She had a cleft palate, huge overbite, and very crooked teeth. We opted for braces to help bring the jaw out instead of surgery. I can't believe how different she looks. I would definitely recommend Dr. Newman. He did an amazing job!!
