Dr. Richard Newman, a native of Livingston, went into private practice with his father, Dr. George Newman, in 1995. Dr. George established the practice more than 50 years ago and is internationally recognized as the first orthodontist to bond orthodontic braces to teeth. He is regarded as a pioneer of dental bonding and a leading innovator in modern orthodontics. Dr. Richard is proud to continue the tradition of his father, and is dedicated to providing the best quality of orthodontic care available.
Dr. Newman received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He graduated from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, which awarded his Doctorate of Dental Medicine with top honors, and he was elected to the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society. Dr. Newman received his specialty certificate in orthodontics from Columbia University in New York.
To continue his commitment to providing the highest level of orthodontic care to his patients, Dr. New man attends continuing education courses through Columbia University Orthodontic Alumni Study Group, Spear Study Group, and Seminars for the Advancement of Dental Excellence. Through this, he stays informed of the most up to date orthodontic techniques and advancements.
Dr. Newman strongly believes in giving back to the community. He is chief orthodontist for the Regional Craniofacial Center at Saint Barnabas Medical Center. As a member of this interdisciplinary team, Dr. Newman volunteers his time to provide care for individuals who suffer from cleft lip and palate problems. He has published articles in many professional journals, including the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. As chairman of Childrens Dental Health Month, Dr. Newman speaks to students at local schools about the importance of good oral hygiene.

Have nothing but complements for Dr Newman and his Team. We knew our daughter's treatment wasn't going to be easy but, him and the whole personel made us feel at ease, and always working around our schedule as well. He is very detail oriented, professional, friendly will get the best result available and was always there to address any concerns we had. Same goes for his staff. We couldn't be happier with the result and the confidence they brought to our daugther. Would recomend dr Newman and the whole Newman Orthodontics Team to anybody and we'll be back in a few years as well with our youngest one.

Dr. Newman is kind, compassionate, and knowledgeable. He made my daughter and myself feel at ease with every appointment. He is always available to address your questions and concerns. Dr, Newman and his staff are very friendly, respectful, and knowledgeable. Dr. Newman genuinely cares about his patients and is very meticulous in his work to achieve the perfect end result, one step at a time. He or his staff always addressed our questions along the way. His staff was also very helpful in scheduling appts. and in working through the insurance process. Office is always organized, clean, and well-maintained. (They are always doing something fun for the kids as well, like a summer ice cream truck day or seasonal raffle.) I am glad we chose Dr. Newman and his staff for our daughter's orthodontic treatment. Her smile looks amazing.

Dr. Newman did a fantastic job with our twins with both Phase 1 and 2 orthodontic work. He is extremely thorough, and we are the beneficiaries of quality knowledge, planning, technique, and execution. If he had any concerns (i.e. speech issues, wisdom teeth growth, better brushing habits), he voiced them to us. He cares about his work and his workmanship. His staff is responsive (very quick to return phone calls) and easy to work with as well. I would highly recommend him. You will not be disappointed!

Dr. Newman helped me feel more confident in my smile. I never would've thought I'd see the day when my braces would come off after a bad experience. I am glad I chose him to help fix my teeth! The staff and himself were both amazing throughout the whole process!

Just finished my last visit before retainers. Over a year to get teeth aligned correctly,but so worth it. Experience at Dr. Newman's office was great, explained all , staff was great.

Dr. Newman is the best. I came in for Invisalign just to tweak a few things that were bothering me and didn't realize how much work I actually needed. Dr Newman is a perfectionist and made sure my smile and bite were absolutely perfect. I'm so happy with the results!

This place is amazing! For anyone that's insecure about their smile but is too scared to get any dental work done, I definitely recommend going here. I would recommend Dr. Newman to anyone who is looking for an orthodontist. He is one of the most kind and knowledgeable healthcare professionals I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. My treatment took a while because my teeth are stubborn and I never felt rushed or pressured. He is incredibly patient. The entire office staff is also wonderful.

We couldn't be happier with the outcome of both of my daughter's teeth! Dr. Newman and his staff are so helpful and kind. Even when my daughter had to have an MRI and needed her braces off to do that, he fully understood and did not charge us the $700 for removal/replace fee. I don't know too many doctors willing to waive a fee. He is also very knowledgeable. My one daughter has been having headaches and when no one else could figure out why, Dr. Newman did. What a relief to me.

I just finished my Invisalign treatment and had the best experience with Dr. Newman and his staff. I had been told by another Orthodontist that I could not achieve my goals with Invisalign and Dr. Newman assured me that I could in under 18 months. I'm very happy with my results! Dr. Newman and staff are wonderful. Friendly and very professional. A year ago we were referred to his office, my daughter had a set of "terrible" looking teeth. Today!...
