Dr. David I. Newman was born in Michigan and graduated with a degree in Dentistry from the University of Michigan Dental School in 1980. Dr. Newman followed in the footsteps of his father, Dr. Lawrence Newman, in becoming a dentist and working at the Dearborn Dental Office with his father of blessed memory. Dr. Lawrence Newman and Dr. David Newman were joined by Dr. Cheryl Newman and worked together for many years until his fathers passing of cancer and sisters early retirement to be with her family.
Dr. David Newman understands how important your smile is and will make every effort to provide the highest quality, gentle dental care for you and your family. Dr. Newman loves practicing dentistry along side so many talented professionals and his wonderful staff. He has been a Dentist for 41 years and looks forward to many more years to come at Newman Family Dental.
Dr. Melissa D. Moccia-Patton grew up in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. She began working as an office assistant at Newman Family Dental Center while attending the University of Detroit Mercy, getting her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2007. While obtaining her degree, she was also trained in our office as a lab assistant and dental assistant. Because of her wide scope of training as a medical professional and as an employee in our office, she has been a big contributor to the success of the business.
In 2020, Dr. Melissa became part owner alongside Dr. Newman at Newman Family Dental. Her training and wide knowledge of Dentistry, her familiarity of the many aspects of our office's operations and her drive to making sure patients receive the best quality health care experience in the community makes her an invaluable part of our office.
Dr. Melissa has been practicing general dentistry at Newman Family Dental since 2007. She is a member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, and the Detroit District Dental Society. Over the years, she has taken many postgraduate courses in different areas of dentistry, including endodontics (root canals), oral surgery and CAD/CAM (same day crowns).
Dr. Dale Garber was born in 1960 in Detroit and has been a Michigan native. His affiliation with the Newman family goes back to the early 1950s when his father Fred Garber entered the University of Michigan Dental Schools Class of 1956 with Dr. Lawrence Newman and the families became lifelong friends. When Dr. Dale Garber graduated from U of M Dental School and later began practicing at Newman Family Dental.
Dr. Garber enjoys all aspects of dentistry and takes pride in making patients feel relaxed and comfortable through his gentle demeanor and sense of humor. He likes to keep current with the latest technologies and is a member of the American Dental Association. Getting patients beyond their fears and providing them with the confidence that a healthy, beautiful smile brings is what Dr. Garber enjoys most about his profession. In his free time, Dr. Garber likes to keep physically fit through biking, half Ironman triathlons, and marathons. Most of all, he enjoys spending time with his wife Lisa, and his three children. He feels very fortunate to be a part of the Newman Family Dental team, for the past three decades!
Dr. Elias received her Bachelor of Science degree at Ohio State University, then attended dental school at University of Connecticut. She decided to return to Ohio State University to receive her orthodontic specialty certification. Dr. Elias loves the attention to detail, biology, and science to ones smile. She also enjoys building relationships and seeing a patients confidence improve. She is a part of the American Dental Association and the American Association of Orthodontics. She is Invisalign certified and has an orthodontic and dental-facial certificate.
After receiving his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2010, Dr. Khaled Sinjab completed a 1-year fellowship in periodontics at the University of Michigan and his love for the specialty pushed him to complete the 3-year residency program where he received his masters degree in Periodontics. He is the proud recipient of the Delta Dental Award, Rackham Block Grant Award, and the Implant Dentistry Research and Education Foundation Grant Award. He has published several articles focusing on dental implant diseases and their management, and his thesis project involved analyzing the bacteria found around dental implants.
When Dr. Khal is not busy with dentistry or teaching at the University, he spends his time giving webinars to dentists around the world and going on hiking trips with his wife and family. He is proudly affiliated with the Michigan Periodontal Association, American Academy of Periodontology, American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, and the Midwest Society of Periodontology.
Paula has been at Newman Family Dental since graduating from hygiene school in 1998. She obtained a bachelors degree from the University of Detroit Mercy, and an Associate of Science from Wayne County Community College. Paula works every Friday and one Saturday a month. The rest of her time is spent taking care of her daughters, her dogs, and her husband.
Tammy has been a Dental Hygienist for 31 years and has worked at Newman Family Dental since 1996. She graduated with an associate's degree in Science of Dental Hygiene at Ferris State University in 1987. She is also certified in Local Anesthesia and Nitrous Oxide from U of D Mercy and continues to advance her education by taking courses yearly. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband of 30 years and her two kids, Megan and Joshua. As an avid outdoor person, she loves golfing, snowmobiling, motorcycling, hunting up North, kayaking and spending time with friends and family.
Kim has been with Newman Family Dental for 22 years as a Dental Hygienist. She received her associate's degree in Applied Science of Dental Hygiene at Wayne County Community College in 1996, then went on to get her bachelor's at U of D Mercy in 2003. Kim also received advanced training in Local Anesthesia from U of D Mercy. When Kim is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband of 20 years and her two kids, Isabella and Enzo. She also enjoys going to her daughter's swimming competitions, camping, Taekwondo, spending time at the pool and volunteering at the kids' school.
Laura has worked at Newman Family Dental for 25 years. She graduated from U of D Mercy in 1989 and received her Bachelor's Degree in Dental Hygiene in 1992. She is also certified in Local Anesthesia through U of D Dental School in 2015. Laura has two daughters and has been married to her husband, Floyd, for 17 years. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, working out and spending time with her friends and family.
Alyssa graduated from University of Detroit Mercy in 2005, where she received her bachelor's degree in dental hygiene. She is licensed to administer sedation for both local anesthesia and nitrous oxide. In her off time, Alyssa enjoys spending time with her husband and adorable cockapoo, Maizey. She also enjoys softball, and traveling when the weather warms up.

I found this Dental office to be outrageously overpriced, $400 for a simple extraction that was over 8 years ago, the Dentists hid their expensive Cars out of view of the patients, some will say they deserved it after all their hard work, so does a Miner who puts himself in danger every day and he's taken for granted!

Newman Family Dental is the best dentist office I have ever been too. Everyone there is so kind and accommodating. I originally went for an abscesses tooth which they got me in right away. Dr Melissa and staff made me feel so comfortable. I also take my kids there and they love it too, even the one that has braces. I will never go anywhere else.

I had recently revisited this dentist, and my experience wasn't the best. Everyone seemed to be nice and friendly until they didn't have to be, I felt as though the Doctor himself, didn't have my best health (teeth) concerns in the best interest. I've been wearing the same partial for over twenty something year's and needed to either add or do implants and the hygienist was under the impression that the Doctor was going to start with a new partial (more updated) version, but he said, just add to the old metal I've been wearing, and that didn't sit well with me. I was scheduled for a deep cleaning and I had to reschedule due to not feeling well and I'm all better now but yet I still haven't gotten that deep cleaning. I will not be returning and I'm sure that's fine with this Dentist.

Dr Newman and his staff r the best. He has to be the the best I have ever been to. I was very much at ease. I never felt any pain. He did what I asked. Couldn't afford a crown so asked for him to pull it. He says I'm not pulling it I'll fix it. Thank u to him. So happy

I had lost a filling a while ago and had put off seeing my dentist. Well, in the meantime, he had retired. I wasn't real happy with him anyway. Well, today my procrastination came to haunt me. I had the worse tooth ache ever! I called Newman Family Dentistry, recommended by sister, and they took me within the hour I called. The staff there was so nice! Dr. Melissa is now my family dentist! She even called me later to see how I was feeling after I had to have a root canal.

The best dentists/hygienists and the friendliest office staff! I see Dr. Melissa and she has always done a great job and is able to put my anxiety at ease. The entire staff is respectful of your time and I have never had to wait. I will never go anywhere else!

Terrible experience and now stuck with a $735 bill due to there negligence. It all started with a phone call I made to them on September 13th. I was very transparent with them and told them it was my last week at my job and that I had $2500 in insurance that hasn't been touched yet. They where excited and got me in that day. Right away they went to town finding and fixing anything they could. I spent hours there over the coarse of three visits all in that week. The staff worked diligently figuring out the best way to spend every penny before the week was over. Through out these visits the mention of the insurance deadline was hot topic. The last thing they came up with to use up every last dollar was a bite guard for sleeping. I went back 2 weeks later to "pick it up" because it had to be made. Come to find out they billed the insurance for the whole thing as the day of pick up and not the day it was fitted molded and ordered. Since obviously I had no insurance at pick up it's now my problem!! I called the dentist and the whole staff have seemed to have acquired amnesia about the whole insurance situation and say they knew nothing about it. The sad part is I didn't even need a bite guard (I sleep with my mouth wide open)I let them do it just to make more off the insurance!! SMH!!

The ABSOLUTE BEST! I had what I would call an emergency! The ladies in the front are always kind and made sure to get me in ASAP. Dr. Melissa has the patients of a saint! All of the staff is wonderful! I love the "bed side manner" and genuine care she has. For someone terrified of the dentist, I drove over an hour just to be in good hands..

The reason why is because when I called and I asked a question about my insurance and she said they didn't accept it and then just hung up on me. Didnt even let me ask her anything else

It's very clean there everybody is professional they have guards up at all stations they have a scanner soon as you walk in you walk up to it and it takes your temperature automatically they ask you all the questions about covid you know if you have any kind of symptoms they stick to their appointment times which I really love get you in and get you out

I despise the dentist office, however, I love Newman Family Dental. When I tell you they are ALWAYS professional and so nice!!! I had an emergency today, Dr. Newman, Julie, Kim and Dr. Garner took excellent care of me! They kept asking me was I okay, was I comfortable? They let you know every step of the way how much the costs are and if you're covered or not. No surprise bills here! I definitely recommend them for all of your dental needs! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! I have been going to this dentist since 2019.

My Daughter had all 4 of her wisdom teeth out and they were impacted, they gave her motrin 600 and Tylenol 500, i had to ask for something stronger, after bringing her home 5 hours later she was in so much pain she was crying, so thank goodness i pushed for something stronger, the dental assistants were great but just be careful with the oral surgeon that is there..

I am VERY particular about the quality of the dentists and hygienists I go to. This office is very clean, everyone is considerate and friendly, and they go out of their way to make the experience worth returning to. (All their dentists are graduates of the state of Michigan!) The prices are reasonable and I will continue to go back for all my cleanings and dental work. I had the best care and my smile is beautiful and I send all my friends to Newman Family Dental.
