Dr. Michael Castagna was born and raised on Long Island where he attended Deer Park Public High School. He got his first taste of New Jersey while attending Princeton University and loved every minute of it. During his time at Princeton, he was fortunate enough to play four years of varsity soccer. Following graduation, Dr. Castagna spent the next four years at the world renowned Columbia University College of Dental Medicine where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery. He then received his specialty training at one of the most competitive orthodontic programs in the country, Montefiore Medical Center. During his final year at Montefiore he was appointed chief resident. Dr. Castagna has been practicing orthodontics in Madison and Dunellen since 2011.
Dr. Castagna 's enthusiasm for orthodontics has many facets, but none are more important than the opportunity it provides him to interact with his patients and their families. 'Orthodontics is a wonderful marriage of art and science. The challenge of balancing function with aesthetics is what grows my passion for the profession every day. The patients are what provide the fulfillment. Being a part of their spectacular transformation throughout treatment and observing their pride and confidence at its completion is the best reward. There is nothing I would rather do.'
Through his career, Dr. Castagna has become involved in many professional Orthodontic and Dental Organizations. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists and the New Jersey Dental Association.
He and his wife, Lauren, currently live in Somerset County and have 2 sons, Jake and Gavin and little girl, Ava. Dr. Castagna is a sports enthusiast and still loves to run, play soccer and do yoga. He also enjoys watching baseball and football.

Kathy joined New Smile Orthodontics in February 2018 and brings over 20 years of experience in dental office administration and client services. She is our treatment coordinator and helps patients understand and fully utilize their insurance benefits. Kathy always has a welcoming smile and is committed to providing our patients with exceptional service.
Kathy is a native of Virginia and graduated from Radford University, where she met her husband, Chris. They reside in West Caldwell, NJ and have 3 daughters; Kayla, Kristin and Kaci. She enjoys being outdoors, reading, traveling, spending time on the beach in LBI, and volunteering at her church.
Jennifer joined the team December 2017. She has been working as a patient care coordinator for over 7 years, its only natural she is the initial face patients see when they step into the office. She aspires to make every patient feel comfortable and at home. She is passionate about helping others and enjoys interacting with the patients.
Aricellis found her love in dentistry at age 19. She received her dental education in Puerto Rico and continued her studies in the states. She became certified as a dental assistant at Miami Dade Community College and Middlesex Community College. She has been a team member of New Smile Orthodontics since 2011. Not only does she assist Dr. Castagna, but she also helps up front as a translator for Spanish speaking patients. Working one on one with her patients is what Ari considers the best part of her job and seeing the difference a beautiful smile can make in a persons confidence and self-esteem.

Dr Castagna and his staff are very friendly, knowledgeable, and time efficient. At each appointment, they explained the next steps, provided great encouragement and got me in and out quickly which I really appreciated! I'm happy with the results of my Invisalign and the care provided at this office! Would definitely recommend to those looking for great orthodontic care.

New Smile Orthodontics is the best. The staff is always so pleasant and friendly. My daughter got her braces almost 2 years ago and we were both nervous but everyone made her feel so comfortable. She is actually sad that her braces will be coming off soon and she won't be going there every 6 weeks. Dr. Castagna really knows how to make the children feel comfortable. I would highly recommend this place.

My experience with Dr. Castagna was amazing! I had to get braces for my second time, this time as an adult due to my bottom row shifting from impacted wisdom teeth. Dr.Castagna was honest and upfront about what my options were and what would work best for me. Ultimately we went with traditional braces for 6 months and my teeth are now perfect. At my final appointment he took my braces off and was able to make corrections too two of my teeth that had ridges that I didn't like. He made sure that I was happy with my smile despite having to go in multiple times to make adjustments for me. His staff is always extremely friendly, cheerful and inviting. I can't say enough good things about his practice. 100% recommend.

Dr. Castagna's office is great, always friendly and helpful. Dr. Castagna is knowledgeable and takes time to explain the situation and how he can help. My kids have been at ease for every appointment they have had, both before and after. Rebecca is awesome at reception, very quick at finding and getting appointments scheduled and responsive to working with individual schedules.
