Dr. Michael Castagna was born and raised on Long Island where he attended Deer Park Public High School. He got his first taste of New Jersey while attending Princeton University and loved every minute of it. During his time at Princeton, he was fortunate enough to play four years of varsity soccer. Following graduation, Dr. Castagna spent the next four years at the world renowned Columbia University College of Dental Medicine where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery. He then received his specialty training at one of the most competitive orthodontic programs in the country, Montefiore Medical Center. During his final year at Montefiore he was appointed chief resident. Dr. Castagna has been practicing orthodontics in Madison and Dunellen since 2011.
Dr. Castagna 's enthusiasm for orthodontics has many facets, but none are more important than the opportunity it provides him to interact with his patients and their families. 'Orthodontics is a wonderful marriage of art and science. The challenge of balancing function with aesthetics is what grows my passion for the profession every day. The patients are what provide the fulfillment. Being a part of their spectacular transformation throughout treatment and observing their pride and confidence at its completion is the best reward. There is nothing I would rather do.'
Through his career, Dr. Castagna has become involved in many professional Orthodontic and Dental Organizations. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists and the New Jersey Dental Association.
He and his wife, Lauren, currently live in Somerset County and have 2 sons, Jake and Gavin and little girl, Ava. Dr. Castagna is a sports enthusiast and still loves to run, play soccer and do yoga. He also enjoys watching baseball and football.

Kathy joined New Smile Orthodontics in February 2018 and brings over 20 years of experience in dental office administration and client services. She is our treatment coordinator and helps patients understand and fully utilize their insurance benefits. Kathy always has a welcoming smile and is committed to providing our patients with exceptional service.
Kathy is a native of Virginia and graduated from Radford University, where she met her husband, Chris. They reside in West Caldwell, NJ and have 3 daughters; Kayla, Kristin and Kaci. She enjoys being outdoors, reading, traveling, spending time on the beach in LBI, and volunteering at her church.
Jennifer joined the team December 2017. She has been working as a patient care coordinator for over 7 years, its only natural she is the initial face patients see when they step into the office. She aspires to make every patient feel comfortable and at home. She is passionate about helping others and enjoys interacting with the patients.
Aricellis found her love in dentistry at age 19. She received her dental education in Puerto Rico and continued her studies in the states. She became certified as a dental assistant at Miami Dade Community College and Middlesex Community College. She has been a team member of New Smile Orthodontics since 2011. Not only does she assist Dr. Castagna, but she also helps up front as a translator for Spanish speaking patients. Working one on one with her patients is what Ari considers the best part of her job and seeing the difference a beautiful smile can make in a persons confidence and self-esteem.

I had the best experience at New Smile Orthodontist I highly recommend them!! Dr. Castagna is a teeth god and he has an amazing personality he makes you feel comfortable and his work speaks for itself! The staff is very sweet and welcoming I would give them a 100 stars if that was possible I am in love with my new smile!

First of all, I am very happy with this office, since day one it has been a very pleasant experience. Dr. Castagna is very professional, courteous and always explain to you whatever he is doing. His whole staff is super nice and very friendly. He is very punctual with his appointments. They are bilingual too! I would recommend Dr. Castagna to everyone.

Dr. Castagna and the entire office staff consistently goes above and beyond! My oldest son went through the orthodontia process about two years ago. It was successful. My middle child (and I) are now going through the process. Each appointment is a great experience. They truly care for your well being and the explain the process and options available with great detail so the patient stays informed and educated through the entire process. The response time of the staff is unmatched. If you have a question and/or concern, rest assured Dr. Castagna will answer you via your preferred method of communication. He's truly the best! My last child, when Dr. Castagna deems her ready for braces will also go through the process as well. We're all in good hands, and you will be too! I absolutely love this team and would recommend Dr. Castagna to EVERYONE!

My son got his braces here and I couldn't imagine having them done anywhere else. Wonderful staff and service! Dr Castagna and his team are pleasant and professional. Easy to work with scheduling appointments and super friendly on the phone. Appointments were always quick AND on time! They answer any and all questions you may have and never rush you off the phone or out of the office. If you are looking for an orthodontist, this is the place to go as you will not be disappointed. Dr. Castagna and his staff are WONDERFUL! They are all very compassionate and made us feel at ease with the treatment prescribed. Everything was explained in detail about procedures and pricing. They patiently answered questions about all of our concerns. They made the whole expander and braces process very bearable. The entire practice is EXCELLENT with kids. Dr. Castagna and his team have been nothing short of amazing throughout my time on orthodontic treatment. In the beginning, I received a full detailed explanation of what is to be expected throughout my care in his hands. During treatment, I must say that this doctor AND his assistants have gentle hands, which is important when the treatment is happening in your mouth and especially on your teeth. His admin team also goes above and beyond to help you with absolutely anything you need. It's great walking into an office where they have it all figured out, teamwork, expertise, and customer service. Much appreciation to Dr. Castagna and his entire team.

I just can't say enough nice things about Dr. Castagna and his staff. I would most certainly recommend New Smile Orthopedics to anyone and everyone. From the second you walk in the door you are met with warm personalities that genuinely want to know how you are doing. The office staff is top notch also. Very accommodating appointment schedules, two locations, and flexible payment plans. I'm the type of person that asks a lot of questions. Never once did I feel like I was being brushed off or rushed. I had some issues and the Dr. even went out of his way to check in with me personally to see how I was doing. Good luck getting that anywhere else nowadays. I'm honestly sad that my treatment will be ending soon. However, I feel like I can just pop in and say hello anytime, that's just how relaxed and friendly everyone is.

Dr. Castagnia and his staff at New Smile Orthodontics are beyond exceptional! They have done a wonderful job at perfecting and enhancing my daughter's sweet smile. While another orthodontist wanted to slap braces on my daughter when she was nine, I went to Dr. Castagnia for a second opinion, and he monitored my daughter's teeth for two years before actually proceeding with the braces. From the consult, to the payment plan, to the actual placement of the braces and all the follow up appointments (throughout Covid no less), the process with Dr. Castagnia and his staff has been simple and most importantly, painless for both my daughter and myself!! I highly recommend New Smile Orthodontics!

I thoroughly enjoyed my orthodontic experience and it is only because of Dr. Castagna and his staff. This team's commitment to their patients is something that I haven't experienced before. They are always available to meet our needs and make sure that this process is as smooth and as pleasing as possible. The office is always really clean, the follow-up appointments are easy to schedule and the appointments are super quick. The environment is really welcoming and comfortable. I was a little bit adamant about getting braces but I am so glad I did. Thank you Dr. Castagna!
