Doctor Shari Tahririan was raised in Oregon and completed both her undergraduate and graduate studies in Portland, Oregon. In 2003 she graduated with a BA in Biology and a Minor in Art from Portland State University. She then earned her dental degree from Oregon Health & Science University in 2007.
My passion for painting, sculpture, and attention to details inspired me to become a dentist. It has always been my dream to merge my clinical and artistic skills to create new things. This passion has carried over to my professional practice. My goal is to make people happy and to give them an everlasting and beautiful smile.
She practiced in Portland for three years after dental school before moving to San Diego to pursue her dreams. After spending 6 years in San Diego working for local dentists, she is now the proud owner of New Smile Dentistry. She continues to take classes and keep herself up to date with new techniques and the latest technology. She is a member of AGD and is certified in Invisalign.
I would like my patients to know that the dental profession appeals to me because I am passionate about Art and helping others. I believe that quality dental care is a combination of all these things; attention to detail, striving for perfection, compassion, and listening to patients needs so they have the best dental care possible. I feel that being a general dentist allows me to treat patients with differing needs; whether it is a bridge, root canal, or just restorations.
I have been in the dental field for over 12 yrs. I have worked with general dentistry and specialties as well, I have worked multiple positions such as front desk, Insurance Biller, Treatment planner and management. I really enjoy working in the healthcare field and being a part of a team that helps people achieve healthy beautiful smiles and helping educate patients on the importance of a healthy mouth. On my free time, I like to enjoy it with my family and friends.
Amanda moved to San Diego from Massachusetts in October, 2015. She attended New England Dental Assistant School and Boston University for her certification in Radiology. Amanda is CPR certified and has 8 years of experience working in a dental practice. She joined New Smile Dentistry in 2015 and is passionate about helping others. One of the things I enjoy the most about dentistry is seeing how transforming the patients smile can change their life.
New Smile Dentistry is located in the Kearny Mesa area of San Diego, CA. We proudly serve many local and military families in the Mission Valley and neighboring communities. Dr. Shari is skilled in both general and cosmetic dentistry and provides a range of procedures including but not limited to: molar root canals, extractions, implant restorations and Invisalign. New Smile Dentistry also offers in house implant placements and gum related surgeries completed by a local board certified Periodontist, Dr. Eric Driver.

Dr. Shari is an amazing dentist. She was able to take care of all my dental needs while working against my time constraint as well as her busy schedule. Her assistant, Miriam is also amazing! She can definitely put you at ease if needed. She truly cares and I can tell that she listens to patients because she would continue conversations from my previous visit! Unhygienic staff. Receptionist sounded like she had COVID. Their xray machine requires them to bring a four foot coord from an old PC and put it in your mouth. They literally put a plastic baggie around it. When I objected to getting 18 xrays for a cleaning I got shamed by literally everyone. Stay away. This place is gross.

I scheduled an appointment and it was cancelled the day before the appointment date. I called in to ask what was the issue and I was told that the date that I scheduled was booked long before I had. So despite it being an option when scheduling, it was never available. They waited until it was the most inconvenient to tell me that this was never an option. If you schedule an appointment here be sure to call in and make sure it's not already taken!

Love this dental office! it was very professional and clean! Dr Shari was very comforting , quick and gentle. the staff was amazing as well very nice people that make you feel good and at ease ! Would recommend to anyone to give them a try !

I was scared to see a dentist after some horrendous experiences in the past. Dr. Shari Tahririan was able to assess problems and work on a plan to correct some serious issues. She's pleasant, easy to talk with. It's evident she really loves her job. I just finished getting a bridge done and the results are amazing. I got recommended to Dr. Shari via a co-worker and I'm so glad I took her advice.

Dr. Tahririan is most gentle, caring and knowledgeable dentist that I ever met. She is very patient and takes her time to explain all the details. I was very comfortable and relax while she was working on me, had no pain and the day after, I had no sensitivity or soreness. Her office is very clean and her staff are nice and caring. I give her five star and would recommend her to anyone who wants to have a trustful, long life dentist.
