Dr. Ovral Wynter, DDS, is the leading provider at New Roc Dental. After graduating from Howard University College of Dentistry with a Doctor of Dental Surgery, she completed her postdoctoral training and residency in New York City. In addition to practicing dentistry at New Roc Dental, she is also a member of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and the Academy of General Dentistry. She has also been a clinical faculty member at the NYU College of Dentistry for more than 13 years.

At New Roc Dental, we ask that all patients bring their new patient forms, ID, and dental insurance card to their first visit. Your new patient forms will ask for information about your dental and medical history, allergies, and current medications.

This information will help make accurate diagnoses and recommend proper treatments if needed. Knowledge about your medical history will also help us look for potential dental health issues you may be at risk for. You can rest assured that none of your information will be shared. We always follow proper privacy laws and safe document disposal methods.

During your exam, Dr. Wynter will check for signs of decay, infection, and other oral diseases. Frequent exams help us keep an eye on your dental health and catch potential problems early before they can develop into something serious.

Cavities begin to develop when bacteria and food particles get trapped under your gums, between your teeth, or on the rough surface of your teeth. The best way to prevent this is to visit your dentist often and brush and floss at least two times every day. Maintaining a good hygiene routine is very important.

To keep your teeth clean and healthy, we recommend using a soft-bristled toothbrush and toothpaste with fluoride. Over time, the fluoride will create a protective layer over your enamel. Using mouthwash can also help clean hard-to-reach parts of your mouth and kill bacteria.

Brushing every day is a great way to clean away bacteria from the surface of your teeth. Unfortunately, toothbrushes are not very effective at cleaning between teeth. If you do not floss, bacteria and food particles can get into these tight spaces and cause infections and decay. That is why it is so important to floss every day. Flossing and brushing work together to remove bacteria and keep your teeth healthy and clean.

Routine exams give us a chance to monitor your oral health and look for signs of potential problems. Catching a dental issue early can make a big difference in the cost and effectiveness of your treatment. That is why, when you come in for an exam, we want to make sure everything is covered.

During your visit, Dr. Wynter will look at your teeth, gums, and other soft tissues in your mouth. She will look for bumps, discoloration, and lesions. This will help us determine if you are at risk of infection, oral cancer, or other health issues. After this, she will check the lymph nodes under your jaw and your facial and neck muscles. If needed, we may take digital X-rays to examine the structure of your jawbone and teeth. We may also use an intraoral camera to check your throat and other hard-to-see areas of your mouth.

Periodontal disease is a severe infection of the gums. It is most commonly known as gum disease, and is one of the most wide-spread dental health problems in America. A large number of adults have or have had gum disease at some point that often goes unnoticed.

Yes! Here at New Roc Dental, we can use Philips Zoom technology to brighten your smile. In just one hour, we can whiten your teeth by up to eight shades! This treatment is a quick, comfortable, and effective way to improve the appearance of your smile.

If you are having a dental emergency, please call our office right away. An emergency can include severe pain, a sudden injury, or lost tooth. In these situations, the earlier you come in, the easier it will be to provide treatment. We will do everything we can to fit you into our schedule on that same day. Emergencies are always a top priority!

Sanitation and sterilization are some of the most important aspects of our job. We have always closely followed recommended government guidelines to keep our office clean and our patients and team in good health. Now that some of these rules have changed, we are doing more than ever to keep everyone safe and healthy.

At New Roc Dental, we are carefully monitoring current health trends and government recommendations to ensure our office is clean and germ-free. We follow all guidelines set forth by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the American Dental Association (ADA).

After each patient, we carefully sanitize everything they may have come in contact with, including chairs, pens, clipboards, equipment, etc. Our team also sanitizes the counters, floors, and other areas of our office at different points of the day to provide a clean environment.

We are dedicated to doing everything possible to keep our team and patients healthy. To do this, our team wears gloves, masks, and facial shields throughout the day. We also provide these items for our patients to wear during their visit. At our front desk, we have installed a protective shield, so you wont have to worry about being in close contact with our receptionist.

Unless a patient needs help to come in or move around the office, we ask that they come alone. Reducing the number of people in and around our office space helps us keep everything clean. We have installed a glass door in the operatory and have open windows throughout the building to keep fresh air circulating. We also offer a touchless sanitizer to use before and after your visit.

We use disposable tools and materials whenever we can. This helps us reduce cleaning time and ensure we have fresh supplies for everyone. Disposable items include gloves, masks, brushes, floss, and a variety of other single-use materials.

We clean our equipment with heat and chemical disinfectants. After each patient, a member of our team will thoroughly sanitize every instrument that was used with an approved chemical cleaner. Once they are clean, we will wrap these instruments and store them until they are needed again. Before use, we will disinfect them again with a specialized dental autoclave. This machine uses dry heat to sterilize equipment and remove bacteria.
