If only you could leave negative stars I would. This office is NOT reliable. You'll make an important appointment, wait a month or two to get it, then they will call the day of and cancel it, then move you out another month....this has happened three times now....I desperately needed a root canal. The last time they called to cancel my latest appointment (today) the receptionist said she was sorry, the doctor told her that he just decided not to come in today....really?? after I had waited three months to get this root canal completed... This dentist needs to go away and retire, and stop wasting our time, he's not a professional. I really DO NOT recommend going here....

Horrible experience, appointment canceled 4 or 5 times in row the day of. No care in the world about people's time. About a month in between every cancelation. Save your time and money and find a more reliable office.

I would give a zero star if possible, this office and Dr. Brofsky's office are terrible. I have been having tooth pain since before December of 2021, and I had to wait weeks to get a consult at Dr. Ankrum's office, only to have it cancelled the day of, then be told they would not even schedule me until over a month out. I told them I was in pain, their response was "take more antibiotics". So, I tried to schedule at Dr. Brofsky's office because they could do the consult sooner, after the consult, they scheduled my procedure for a month out, guess what? The day of my appointment, they call to cancel, then tell me they cannot get me in for almost 3 weeks, then call back and say they cannot get me in until the next month! Despite my plea saying I was in pain, their response is "we are sorry" and that is it, no effort to reschedule sooner. I have been taking OTC pain meds for months, and they do not care. Not to mention I work full time, so I had to plan PTO for the procedure, and then lost half a day of work when it was cancelled. I am beyond disgusted, I do not feel cared for as a patient, and I would never recommend this facility to anyone. I will never return to this office or Dr. Ankrum in Blacksburg.

I have internal damage on three of my front teeth because of trauma from an accident. I was told by a dentist that I might need root canals on all three. Dr. Ankrum looked closely at them and told me I only really needed root canals on two, and the other would be best left alone and monitored over time. His reasoning made a lot of sense and gave me confidence that he had my best interest in mind and wasn't trying to sell treatments I didn't need. The procedure itself was as painless as possible, and I was impressed with the quality of the work and the friendliness of Dr. Ankrum and his staff.

I can not recommend this place enough! I have a HUGE fear of any dental procedures and everyone in this office and most importantly Dr. Ankrum was comforting and made this visit easier that a typical routine cleaning! His beside manor was spot on and he was very gentle for every step of the procedure. If you EVER need a root canal this is the place to go. Thanks again Dr. Ankrum and staff!

Had to go in for a root canal, my anxiety was threw the roof as I am NOT good with getting dental work done. Dr Ankrum walked me threw the whole process, told me what I would feel and hear. Absolutely recommend!!!!!!

Dr Ankrum is great! He explains the procedure to you, tells you how long it will take, and then tells you each step what he is going to do and what the sensation will be. He is very gentle. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Ankrum is exceptional. My general dentist even commented after seeing my root canal on x-ray that it was the "prettiest" he'd ever seen!
