Born and raised in New Jersey, Dr. Keber graduated from Seton Hall University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. While attending dental school at the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health in Mesa, she fell in love with the beautiful, warm weather and decided to call Arizona home. Upon graduating dental school, Dr. Keber chose to expand her skill set and knowledge by completing a one-year AEGD residency in Phoenix through NYU Langone. Completing this program provided her with advanced training in all aspects of dentistry, including restorative dentistry, oral surgery, dentures, and dental implants.
Dr. Keber has both private practice and non-profit experience, making her a perfect fit here at New Horizon Institute. Dr. Kebers passion for dentistry and community health have aligned to find her best suited for a career in a non-profit dental clinic. When she is not polishing smiles, you might also find her exercising, hiking, practicing yoga, or spending time in the sun. Dr. Keber is a firm believer in whole-body, integrated oral care and takes pride in her commitment to providing a positive dental experience for her patients.
Dr. Steven Vorholt holds a simple goal to provide all patients with a strong, healthy smile they can truly love. By getting to know your story and oral health goals, Dr. Vorholt can create a personalized treatment plan designed to meet your unique needs. From the moment you enter the Surgical Center doors, Dr. Vorholt seeks to restore your oral health and give you a smile you cant wait to share with others.Hailing from Cincinnati, Ohio, Dr. Vorholt graduated with his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from The Ohio State University in 2013. Shortly after attaining his degree, Dr. Vorholt started a private practice in the Columbus area. Immersing himself in as much continuing education as possible, he eventually developed a great passion for dental implant surgery. After 6 years of building a successful general practice in Ohio, Dr. Vorholt followed his passion and moved to Scottsdale, Arizona to take a full-time position with the New Horizon Surgical Center. You will see him mentoring courses and coordinating care for all implant patients through the Implant Pathway program.Dr. Vorholt is currently a fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and is actively pursuing his Associate Fellowship with the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. He plans to eventually earn his Diplomate in the American Board of Oral Implantology and finds teaching other doctors how to successfully incorporate implant dentistry into their own practices to be his proudest professional endeavor.

After completing his undergrad at UC San Diego, he went on to attend the Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health. Dr. Chen is dedicated to ensuring each patient receives comfortable, precise care for results that will thoroughly enhance their health and wellness. Our team shares the same core mission as Smiles and Beyond, a Phoenix-based non-profit dedicated to restoring the smiles of abuse victims and formerly incarcerated individuals who are committed to rebuilding their lives. Through our partnership, Smiles and Beyond introduces us to 10 patients in need of significant restorative work, which we provide at no cost. Each year, the Phoenix Rescue Mission lifts hundreds of men, women, and families from the clutches of poverty, hunger, and homelessness. By offering long-term, comprehensive solutions, individuals can get back on their feet and start a new chapter. We are partnering with the Phoenix Rescue Mission to offer full mouth reconstruction to 10 individuals who have made significant progress on rebuilding their lives. Its our honor to play a part in empowering these lives with bright smiles so they can have even brighter futures.
The type of oral surgery you need will be decided based on the current state of your oral health and what needs to be addressed. The New Horizon Institute dental surgeons are greatly experienced in a variety of procedures. Here are a few common types of dental surgeries we offer at our practice:
Dental occlusion refers to the way your teeth meet when you bite. If your bite is misaligned, it can affect the way you eat, speak, or even your appearance. Though a lot of alignment issues can be resolved through braces, more complex cases can require surgery.
This is a procedure in which the surgeon will replace lost bone mass, which can happen as a result of lost adult teeth or even bone disease. If you require a dental implant, for instance, you might first need a bone graft to make sure there is enough tissue to properly place the implant.
The sinuses are air-filled pathways located just above the back portion of the upper jaw. If you need a bone graft in this location, a sinus lift is often required to make sure the graft doesnt negatively impact the sinuses.
Tori are a type of bone growth that can appear along the jaw. While not dangerous, a torus can be uncomfortable and impact your oral hygiene negatively. The tori removal procedure will use drills or lasers, depending on the case.
All oral surgery procedures are performed under an anesthetic, so you should not feel any pain or discomfort apart from some slight pressure. Once the anesthetic wears off, however, you will likely feel some pain or soreness, but the oral surgeon will prescribe painkillers and other at-home treatment options to manage it.
