Dr. Plachtyna has been in private practice with New Haven Dental Group since 1984. He received his bachelors degree in biology from Merrimack College and his DDS from Northwestern University Dental School.
He is a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry and a candidate for the Mastership level. The Academy promotes continuing education in all areas of general dentistry. To date, Dr. Plachtyna has invested more than 1,100 hours in continuing education to provide his patients' with excellent dental care.
Dr. Plachtyna has taught at the Yale-New Haven Hospital Residency Program as an adjunct faculty member. He is currently on leave from this position. He is a member of the New Haven Dental Association, Connecticut State Dental Association, and the American Dental Association.
Dr. Reutenauer is a transplant to Connecticut after having grown up in both B.C. Canada and Seattle, WA. She attended the University of Washington in Seattle, WA where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Biology. She then continued on at the University of Washington School of Dentistry where she earned her DDS. While in dental school she received the American College of Dentists Ferrier Memorial Award for excellence in restorative dentistry.
Because she knows that going to the dentist can be a challenging experience for many, Dr. Reutenauer strives to make every patient as comfortable as possible. She loves focusing on education and prevention to promote great oral health.

Very good practice. Had a cleaning with Alex and a filling with Dr. Kern. Both were very professional, welcoming, knowledgeable, and approachable. The whole staff is very nice and positively happy to see you. Both times I had a great time, felt comfortable and well taken care of. Definitely recommended.

I have had an excellent experience with my dental hygienist here. However, two issues: -the only way to get in touch with them is via a phone that they don't answer, or if they do, it's scoldy and harried -the local anesthesia for a filling didn't work so I felt the whole thing, and a different doctor attempted to upsell me on unnecessary procedures

My dental hygienist Jocelyn did a wonderful job on my cleaning!! Last time I got a cleaning was two years ago and I had a little bit of tartar buildup. Jocelyn was constantly checking up on me to make sure that I was comfortable and that I wasn't experiencing pain. I left the dental office with my teeth feeling so glossy and clean!!
