Dr. Plachtyna has been in private practice with New Haven Dental Group since 1984. He received his bachelors degree in biology from Merrimack College and his DDS from Northwestern University Dental School.
He is a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry and a candidate for the Mastership level. The Academy promotes continuing education in all areas of general dentistry. To date, Dr. Plachtyna has invested more than 1,100 hours in continuing education to provide his patients' with excellent dental care.
Dr. Plachtyna has taught at the Yale-New Haven Hospital Residency Program as an adjunct faculty member. He is currently on leave from this position. He is a member of the New Haven Dental Association, Connecticut State Dental Association, and the American Dental Association.
Dr. Reutenauer is a transplant to Connecticut after having grown up in both B.C. Canada and Seattle, WA. She attended the University of Washington in Seattle, WA where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Biology. She then continued on at the University of Washington School of Dentistry where she earned her DDS. While in dental school she received the American College of Dentists Ferrier Memorial Award for excellence in restorative dentistry.
Because she knows that going to the dentist can be a challenging experience for many, Dr. Reutenauer strives to make every patient as comfortable as possible. She loves focusing on education and prevention to promote great oral health.

That is my most recent review. This next one is a few months old. Yesterday I had a dental cleaning with Erica. On time! She was kind, had a gentle touch, humorous and overall wonderful. She was very informative showing me better ways to clean my teeth and what products to consider for good results. She spent a lot of time showing me how to do a better job at home. She called Dr. O'Brien, who came in promptly, in to do an exam and he also took time to say things looked good and to continue on with what was working well. Overall a very pleasant experience with minimal discomfort and lots of good tips.Front office staff were pleasant efficient and got me in an out without delay. Overall Great experience all the way round. EARLIER VISIT A FEW MONTHS AGO: First off I was very impressed with the office's efforts to inform me that the Dr was running a bit late so I could take some time before driving there. The office staff is pleasant and efficient . I've followed Dr. O'Brien for many years and always find him to be professional (aka great work) and also just a heck of a nice guy. His assistant Sabrina was kind, reassuring and has a very pleasant personality.I had to have a crown placed after cracking a tooth. It was a 2 step process and they both went very well. Step one preparing the tooth for the crown and placing a temporary crown. Minimal discomfort with a well placed nerve block. Dr O'Brien was very meticulous in shaping the tooth for the procedure and explaining everything along the way. He often asked how I was doing, which was appreciated. A few weeks later, the permanent crown was placed in a shorter office call and all is good. This is not the first time I've had this done at this office and both times it was done with great professionalism and care. The team there is great and is the office staff. Highly recommend them!!!

Dr O'Brien and his team are the best ever. He is very gentle and explains every procedure every step of the way and even asks you at intervals how you're doing. Oh and the background music is awesome. Absolutely love it there. Cheri and the hygienist are both GREAT!

Went to the Hamden branch and Dr. R resolved the problem with my back molar. She was professional and listened to my concerns. Please Stay away from Dr. E at the York Street branch. She started the molar repair process, but in my opinion, lacked the skills to do it, and she sent me home and failed to repair it. Ms. R completed the whole thing with no problems. Thank you Dr. R

I've been a client for a couple years, I stopped in yesterday for an after-hours emergency appointment to address a toothache. The doctor confirmed his suspicions as to the cause very quickly and advanced an already existing appointment for me to handle the bad tooth. Kind, quick, trustworthy and efficient and I love my front desk staff! I love you guys!

This was my first visit to the New Haven Dental Group. I filled out all the required information prior to my first visit and everything went very smoothly today. Katie did a great job cleaning my teeth and their x-rays picked up a cavity so I already made another appointment to have that fixed. I've been to the Woodbridge and Hamden offices. They are both great. The hygienists are very thorough and they do an excellent job. The staff is friendly and the dentist's are very good.

I'm a new patient and today was my second cleaning visit. Cathy, my dental hygienist, is absolutely amazing. She is not only extremely knowledgeable and shares lots of dental care tips, she is professional, courteous, and does an amazing job. Sheri at the front desk is also very nice and professional. I love this place and highly recommend it.

I enjoyed a wonderful appointment with Hamden's hygienist Kathy. She was remarkably knowledgeable, very professional, thoughtful, and, most importantly, highly skilled. She respected my wishes and was not pushy in any measure. The ladies at the front desk were very friendly and welcoming, too.
