A native of the Chicagoland area, Alex Jarava, DMD, is proud to serve his local community. Dr. Jarava cares for patients at New Family Dental, a state-of-the-art general dentistry practice in Arlington Heights, Illinois.
During his undergraduate studies in biomedical engineering at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Dr. Jarava learned about the relationship between medicine and engineering. He gained a passion for dentistry and went on to dental school after graduation. Dr. Jarava completed his Doctor of Dental Medicine at Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine in Alton. Hes currently a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Chicago Dental Society, and the Illinois State Dental Society.
Dr. Jaravas upbringing in a Hispanic home taught him the importance of family from a young age. He brings this quality to his practice and provides compassionate, high-quality dental care for all members of a patients family. Dr. Jarava enjoys building lasting professional relationships with every patient, so they always feel welcomed and relaxed.
Because of his dedication to general dentistry and orthodontic treatments, Amjad Mahairi, DDS, is a trusted dental provider. He cares for patients at New Family Dental, a modern, full-service dental practice in Arlington Heights, Illinois.
Dr. Mahairi earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery and has been practicing dentistry in the Chicagoland area for over 16 years. To ensure hes always up-to-date with the latest advancements in dental medicine and oral surgery, Dr. Mahairi takes continuing education courses as much as possible.
While Dr. Mahairi can provide a variety of dental services, from dental fillings to root canals, hes also able to help patients correct their teeth alignment and perfect their smiles. Dr. Mahairi specializes in modern orthodontic treatments, including Invisalign, as well as traditional braces.
When hes not busy caring for patients, Dr. Mahairi enjoys spending time with his daughter and four sons. He was even able to learn to speak Spanish in his spare time, which helps him communicate with patients who may struggle with language barriers.

Been a couple months since I was there and don't like doing reviews for anything negative but this caused me pain. I go in because they are the only other place near me that accepts medicaid. The other one couldn't help me and I lost the paperwork I needed for an oral surgeon. Should have gone back and just got it. Anyway I go here and say this other dentist couldn't pull this back molar on right side bottom. They say some just aren't skilled enough. I say ok. They come back after X-ray and say they can't do it. I say ok can I get a referral. They don't give me one. I ask front desk for one they don't give me one so I leave. Side note before I went I called and said do I need to pay anything she said nope my insurance will cover it. Girl comes in to see me in room before I even see dentist and tells me I need to pay $30 or $40 something like that to see dentist. I said I don't have it and that lady told me I didn't need it. She said no you need to pay so at the time I said ok. She sends dentist in. When I leave I talk to same lady I spoke to on phone and said you told me I don't need to pay anything and she goes yes you are right and I leave. Just seemed like I was trying to be hustled. Horrible experience.

New Family Dental has always cared about my dental health and do a great job on my bi-annual cleaning. It's also a very clean environment.

The wait was long for me to not even serviced correctly. They took unnecessary X-rays of my teeth just to tell me my problem was related to cavities. I went to another dentist & they immediately saw my problem was related to a wisdom tooth. Mind you they never mentioned a wisdom tooth to me. The staff were nice, but I do not recommend going here. It was my first wisdom tooth & they missed it.

Such a waste of time! Waited over 45 minutes past our appt time to be told that the doctor has other patients ahead of us. They don't have enough personnel for the number of appointments they schedule, and the workers who are there are sooo slow. Will not go back again!!!! UPDATE: We received a phone call from the clinic with apologies, and also a letter at home. I appreciate their efforts in rectifying the issue so will give them one more try.

I've been coming here for the last two years and have never been dissatisfied in anyway. Service on both the dentists and staffs was great, I don't get why the few are complaining about having to wait extra time. It happens. Get over it. This guy is great at what he does, Patient and understanding. I definitely recommend going to him! No. This comment is fake.

I'm a new patient, I went in there with a terrible tooth ache and Dr. Jarava was so kind and sweet including the staff. I think he sensed I was nervous so he conversated with me and also explained everything very well. He is very professional and did an amazing job. I got my wisdom tooth extracted and I felt comfortable and safe being under his care. He's great! Definitely recommend and I'm happy I found a new dentist. Thank you!!

I went in with a painful tooth. I had been going to another dentist who had not been able to cure my problem. He identified my issue quickly, and explained why I was in so much pain. I was in and out of his chair in 20 mins and feeling 100% better. My only complaint is that I waited so long to get the help I needed! I've already recommended him to family members.

Called receptionist to schedule appointment for my son,didnt have insurance card handy as i keep my wallet in the car,and told her would call back in couple mins. I ended the call and figured the wallet was just there,so called back within that 2 mins and she is passing my call on voicemail. Im keep on calling for 5th time same thing. This is how the lowest employee in office can damage your business! I dont care there are plenty of dentists around! Thata all i can do..since you waisted my 4 mins,im waisting 1 more for this review..

They seem to always perform x rays without the doctor seeing you first to confirm whether you actually need them or not. I asked this last time if they can not do them and still went ahead and took two more. I'm told by other dentists you should only need X-rays every two to three years.

My daughter had to get a couple cavities filled there about 6 months ago. She has requested for numbing for all of the teeth and the dentist said that he wouldn't do it since he didn't want to numb the whole mouth. She was in extreme pain while they were doing the fillings she even had to shake her hands and make noises for them to stop. She came out crying of the dentist. They should always accept a patients wishes and instead, denied it and caused her pain. Now a few months later, we just went to another dentist and we found out that one of the cavities weren't filled correctly! They have to replace the filling with a new one. I can't believe that my daughter has to get it done on the same tooth again! She's now traumatized of the dentist. I wouldn't recommend this dentist for any sort of reason.

I would give zero stars if possible. I have been trying to get a cleaning since March, I am a returning patient, and need a filling done as well. No confirmation calls, and they always cancel.

Very pleasant! Extremely nice girl and Dr. Jarava was very helpful, nice and passionate about his job. He and the hygienist really cared about their patients and were passionate about their jobs. Explained to me in a simple understandable way. I highly recommend this office.
