Dr. Andrew Nerness was raised in the southwestern town of Windom, MN. Dr. Nerness grew up with three younger sisters and performed music throughout the midwest with The Nerness Family music group. Dr. Nerness is married to his wife Martha and has one daughter. Dr. Nerness enjoys spending time with family, writing music,singing and playing the piano, racquetball, swimming, snowboarding, ultimate frisbee, and photography.
In 2017, Dr. Nerness completed board certification, a voluntary process, which places him in a distinguished group (23%) of all endodontists who have demonstrated exceptional knowledge and technical skill according to standards established by the American Board of Endodontics. Certification is a 3-part process that requires passing a written exam,oral exam, and critique of a portfolio of completed endodontic cases. Certification demonstrates a commitment to the highest standard of excellence in the specialty of endodontics.
Dr. Nerness received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD in 2005. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 2011. After graduation from dental school, he completed a General Practice Residency at the University of Minnesota Medical Center and Fairview Hospital in Minneapolis, MN in 2012. In 2014, Dr. Nerness received his Certificate in Endodontics and Master's Degree in Dentistry with a Minor in Oral Pathology from Indiana University School of Dentistry.
Dr. Nerness has been practicing dentistry since 2011. In his first year of practice, Dr. Nerness provided complex dental treatments and surgeries to medically compromised patients at the University of Minnesota Medical Center residency. After that, Dr. Nerness limited his focus to endodontics and performed complex endodontic procedures with surgical microscopes, microsurgical instruments, and digital CBCT radiography at Indiana University endodontic residency. In 2014, Dr. Nerness started a private endodontic specialty practice, Nerness Endodontics, where he continues to provide endodontic procedures.
Dr. Nerness has volunteered dental services locally through Children's Dental Services, Union Gospel Mission, and Give Kids a Smile. He has also served internationally to Brila, Romania with Serving HIM Healthcare Missions. Dr. Nerness has served as a delegate to the Minnesota Dental Association House of Delegates. Dr. Nerness has helped teach continuing education courses in CBCT imaging at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Nerness and his wife also enjoy serving in their church.

Went in for a root canal. I am deathly afraid of having dental work done on account dentist in the past have not done the best job numbing. I really had a wonderful experience here and they were up front and honest about the cost.

Was referred to Dr. Nerness by my regular dentist for a root canal. As the tooth was fairly painful, one call and his staff assured me they would fit me in that very afternoon. I can't say enough about Dr. Nerness and his staff. They all were very friendly, knowledgeable - explaining the complete procedure and different options available to me. Thanks again to all.

I have had several root canals in my life; I had an emergency situation where a root canal completed about ten years ago became infected; my dentist made a referral to Nerness Endodontics. Dr. Nerness and his team were able to see me the very next day. The exam and diagnosis were thorough. Following a CT scan and x-rays, Dr. Nerness completed the required procedure. I was really impressed with the modern facility, skill of the oral surgeon (Dr. Nerness), and the rapid response to my situation.

I would highly recommend Nerness Endodontics. The staff are very pleasant and friendly. The moment you walk in you are greeted and made to feel welcome. During the root canal they were always making sure you are comfortable. Dr. Nerness took time to explain everything and made the procedure less painful as possible.

We have a awesome experience visit. My son has his root canal tooth abscess. Amy the assistant did a great job explaining things. Dr Andrew also very knowledgeable of his work. They also have options to make you feel relaxed such as music and blankets, my son chose to listen to music and said that everything went great. Everything went very smooth. The front desks gals also very kind and helpful.

This clinic really changed my perspective on dental offices. (I had a bad experience with a previous dentist which resulted in me being scared of anyone touching my tooth). Debbie and Margaret were very helpful in answering all my questions in regards to payment. Amy was superb and had great vibes. She was patient, kind, and willing to educate me and answer all my questions. She thoroughly went over the risks and the entire procedure (which put my mind at ease). Dr.Nerness had a kind, calming presence. I could tell he cared about his patients and employees from the small interactions he had with everyone in the office. They asked me to come in a 1/2 hour early and then I still waited an hour to see the doctor for 3 minutes. They wanted $500 right away, we have no insurance.

After two other root canals by other endodontists on this tooth I went to see Dr. Nerness he told me my options extraction or bridge he was confident he could try another root canal and possibly more work on that tooth to save it. After 2 days the swelling was gone in the gums above the tooth and tenderness in my nose area was gone. This doctor is first class the office personnel are first class. I wouldn't go anywhere but Nerness endodonics for any complicated dentistry. Thank you Dr Nerness! Mark Buechner.

Went in and find out if you need to reply on your tooth pulled or what was going on with my tooth the first thing they did was a CT scan which told them absolutely nothing but yet I still had to pay for it $305 they could have done the other tests first and figured out probably just as much and insurance doesn't cover the CT scan. And it showed them nothing anyways
