Outside of his world-class practice, Dr. Nelson is a loving family man and is involved with the community. Dr. Nelson is happily married to his wife, Dianne and they have four children, Jeremy, Eli, Ana, and Michaela. He is also an active member of Rotary International.

I am a UNC-trained Orthodontist and thrilled to be part of the team at Nelson Orthodontics! My family fell in love with North Carolina when we moved here 15 years ago from Brazil, and I am committed to caring for our vibrant community in the years to come. A bit about my training: I received my D.D.S. degree in 2005 from the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brazil, before moving to the US to complete a Master of Science and Certificate of Operative Dentistry at UNC in 2010. Then, I joined the University of Louisville, Kentucky as a faculty member teaching operative dentistry.

After years in academia, I decided to pursue my passion for Orthodontics. In 2019, I completed a Master of Science and Certificate of Orthodontics from the esteemed UNC Orthodontics Department and subsequently began a D.D.S. program to obtain a US dental degree and license. I graduated with full licensure as part of the UNC Dental Class of 2021.

Following graduation, Dr. Terp completed a one year general dentistry residency at Fort Sill, Oklahoma; he then served as a general dentist in Giessen, Germany, and later as the 1st Special Forces Group dentist in Fort Lewis, Washington.
