We are located in a beautiful medical office building just off of San Marcos Blvd., a half mile east of San Marcos High School in San Marcos, California. Our office is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, and youll enjoy an extra dose of vitamin D from all the natural light pouring in from the windows. Doesnt that sound nice? It is - we promise.
After spending his first 10 years in Barstow, CA (Ever heard of it? Similar climate to San Diego+/- 50 degrees), he moved to Upland, CA where he finished middle and high school - and unknowingly met his future wife. Dr. Nelson earned a bachelors degree in business at Brigham Young University, then completed dental school at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, which is repeatedly labeled a top-10 dental school and boasts some of the best instructors in the dental world. Ivy League life suited Dr. Nelson well (apart from growing his collection of gray hairs), and after excelling there, he was selected to attend a 30-month orthodontics residency at the Center for Advanced Dental Education at St. Louis University. Studying under some of the greatest orthodontic minds in the country, Dr. Nelson absolutely loved learning the art and science of straightening teeth and crafting perfect smiles. During his residency, he even travelled regularly as an instructor for Southern Illinois Universitys dental school, where he was able to teach dental students the basics of orthodontics. He continues to learn and grow in this ever-changing and exciting field so that he can give the best possible care to his patients.
Dr. Nelson and his wife Danica are parents to four children, three of whom attend school in the San Marcos School District. When hes not at the office, with his family, coaching, or volunteering in his church or community, Dr. Nelson loves playing pretty much any sport out there. Hes fairly certain he would have gone pro in some sport or another if he hadnt have looked like a 12-year old as a senior in high school. It took him a while to hit his growth spurt...and then he promptly got gray hair. Hes not bitter about it though!

We offer 0% interest financing for all of our patients for up to 24 months. We also offer affordable payment plans for longer than 24 months if desired (administrative fees may apply). Our treatment coordinator is happy to design a plan that will work for you and your family.
Because we offer affordable monthly payment plans without charging a large down payment, it is necessary that patients make their payments on time each month. However, we know that life is filled with difficulties and can get crazy sometimes - if youre experiencing a hardship, please contact us so that we can work out a payment arrangement with you.
Because Dr. Nelson loves sports so much, he loves supporting local sports teams. There is so much that can be learned by playing on a team or diligently practicing a skill each day - we love to encourage that behavior.

I've held out in this review and was hoping some things would change. Overall satisfied with the staff care and flexible payment options that this office offers. I am always greeted and welcomed which puts me at ease. I've never had braces before and always had anxiety. The one complaint I've had is that I feel as if Dr. Nelson's system does not allow him to spend time with his patients. Every time I go in I feel rushed and unheard. I work in a cosmetic dermatology center and I know this is very important for our clients to feel heard and understood rather than invalidate and off to the next patient. When asked questions I felt pressured to have yes or no answers just so he can go to his next patient. All I wanted was more bite block on my right upper bit now I'm left with pain because my top and bottom teeth are touching. Now I have to just be uncomfortable and disappointed. If you are the type of person who prefers one on one care this would not be the place to go to as his setting is open and he jumps from on chair to another like fast paced musical chairs.

We are delighted with the results. Nelson Orthodontics has made so much progress with my daughter's teeth. They have a new office and it's amazing!!! It's soooooo big and we'll decorated, not to mention the massage chairs, video game, and BIG screen TV.

Dr Nelson was soooo awesome!! The staff was Super friendly and the office was beautiful and renovated. Special shout out to Desiree the insurance coordinator she was very knowledgeable and helped me understand my coverage. Everyone at NFO is amazing, can't wait to go back!
