A New York native, Dr. Rob Nelson grew up in Delmar and is the youngest of three children. He attended St. Bonaventure University where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Biology. Following in his father's footsteps, he later attended the University of Pennsylvania's School of Dental Medicine for his Doctorate. After finishing his doctorate, he was a resident at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, completing hundreds of hours of study and specialized training for all aspects of dentistry. He is dedicated to excellence in cosmetic and general dentistry and keeps up-to-date on the latest technologies.
Dr. Rob is a current member of the American Dental Association, the New York Dental Association, and the local Third District Dental Society. He has been a doctor in our practice since 2007. Patients have said they love how he explains every detail and always does what is right for them. When he is not practicing dentistry, he spends most of his time with his beautiful wife and two children. He is a huge automobile enthusiast and loves the outdoors.
Dr. Nelson was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. He attended Union College in Schenectady where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in both Biology and Chemistry. He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and completed his General Practice internship and residency at Albany Medical Center. Dr. Nelson is a fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry and holds Board Eligible status in the International Association of Orthodontics. He is also a member and past Treasurer of the Third District Dental Society and the New York State Dental Society.
Dr Nelson loves what he does and makes his family practice welcome to all. He strives to have all of his patients feel at home and takes pride in his gentle touch and honesty. His patients have become patients for life!
Dr. Nelson enjoys playing golf, travelling (especially to Aruba) and is a car enthusiast. He loves spending quality time with his adoring wife, Peggy, their three children, seven grandchildren and of course, their dogs Spencer & Emmitt.
Katie became the full time Practice Manager in 2013, but is no stranger to Nelson Dental Healthcare! She is part of what makes Nelson Dental Healthcare a family practice. Daughter to Dr Gary Nelson and sister to Dr Rob Nelson, Katie has been a part of this wonderful practice her entire life.
Katie attended Le Moyne College in Syracuse and received her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from SUNY Albany. She has worked in various dental offices in the NYC area as well as in Upstate NY. Before becoming a permanent part of our team, Katie was in sales, working for two of the largest dental distributors in the country. Katie is also a Business and Financial Coach and Speaker, travelling the country to assist other dental offices.
Rhonda graduated with Honors from Hudson Valley Community College in 2001. In recognition for her outstanding scholastic performance, Rhonda received the highest honor for academic and clinical proficiency in dental hygiene. As a result of her dedication to her studies she was awarded the 'Gerard A. Ripp Memorial Award' and the 'Albert H. Stevenson Award.'
Rhonda has been a part of the dental community for nearly 18 years and has been practicing dental hygiene since 2001 with Nelson Dental Healthcare. We are so lucky to have such an enthusiastic and caring hygienist be a part of our team! Our patients appreciate her knowledge of dentistry along with her gentle touch. The fact that I have been a patient at Nelson Dental Healthcare for decades somewhat says it all....very skilled staff in all positions. atmosphere uplifting attractive,, very clean love socializing there but it does not distract from efficiency of staff. I do miss Gary, of course...but still family there...

Have been going to Nelson Dental for years and couldn't be happier. It's always a pleasure visiting with Rhonda during my cleanings. The dentist was always my least favorite Dr. to visit. I've been a patient of Dr. Nelson's practice with his son and new partner since 2005 and have always been impressed with the quality and friendliness of his practice as it has modernized with the times. Now his son has transitioned into the primary dentist and Dr. Rob is awesome. Hygienists are professional, skilled, and friendly. Front office is accurate, polite, and welcoming. My teeth are in the best shape they've been in since I was a teenager. Highly recommended for cleanings and all kinds of repairs.
