I've been coming here for a few years. It started off fine, but I decided today I will not be coming back. More than once I have gone in, been recommended and agreed to a specific treatment, and made an appointment for it. Then when I came to the appointment they tell me I am getting a different treatment than what was discussed due to insurance reasons. No prior notification or discussion. This isn't acceptable. If my insurance won't pay for the planned, agreed on treatment, then ask the patient if they are willing to pay for it out of pocket. Or offer them a chance to cancel the appointment since it is not going to be what they were initially told it would be for. Or communicate with them proactively in some way, shape, or form, ahead of the appointment, like other dental offices do. My gum health is worse today than it was six months ago because of the poor communication of this office. They apologized and offered to do the treatment I needed and had scheduled months ago TODAY, but I have lost trust in them and so I declined. I will seek a second opinion and schedule whatever is necessary elsewhere. Of course I need to wait until the new year since I have used up my dental benefits on apparently vain visits to this practice. This same thing happened last year and I overlooked it and gave them a second chance since everyone makes mistakes sometimes, but... this is my health, it's not like a bad haircut or something superficial. Not to mention the thousands of dollars I've had to spend.

This review is for the management. I've been coming here for cleanings since 2019 and everything was all right, but they changed the front desk staff and I didn't have a great experience recently. I have never paid a co-pay for periodontal maintenance, but then all of a sudden the guy at front desk says that I have a copay that I need to cover, so I paid, then a few days later I got the actual bill from Delta Dental and the insurance actually covered everything as usual (96 usd for the cleaning), but when I call back to the office to inquiry about the issue, the guy minimized the issue saying that it was only such a small amount of 20 usd and so I could have a credit back for future services, just like that. To me this activity is very sketchy and something I don't appreciate regardless of any dollar amount, he was even asking me questions about the procedure I was given and that sometimes there are things that they do that don't go through insurance (more sketchy), but again it was a just basic routine cleaning. This is something I had not experienced with the previous front desk staff, which was really good at their job, laying everything very clear in writing. I'll be submitting a report to my insurance company about these practices and of course I will not return.

I strongly recommend this dental office to anyone living in or around the San Diego area. Very nice staff, gentle and professional doctor, always have time to explain your issue and answer your questions. Simply the best dental office I've been to!

I have never met a Dentist and staff like this in my life. From the staff members to the Dentist Natayla herself they are caring, openhearted and truthwothy. This is the first time in my 50 year life that I have found a dentist who isn't just about the money, they truly live a mission through this office to help people. I have been going to them for 3 to 4 years now and they continue to provide the same amazing services and positive attitude every time. They will work with you to make a way to get what you need. I believe that God blessed me the minute I walked through their doors. This is so rare to find, and they are a hidden gem. I recommend them to all of my friends, family and anyone who asks.

Honestly, I'm afraid of dentists!! But Natalya is amazing! She's kind, honest and all round professional. Pablo is AWESOME!! When I say he makes you feel comfortable and at home, he really does. He takes care of the work in the background and he always reassures you no matter what. He too takes care of you. The team are great in all aspects. My fear is going away and my comfort levels have sky rocketed! They're an amazing office of individuals.

This Dental office is AMAZING! The office staff there are really nice and friendly. Dr. Carmichael herself is really nice! Her and her staff of dental assistants and hygienists are all really good people who know their stuff and are always welcoming. My wife and I had a deep clean today and my hygienist Daniel was super awesome and she said her hygienist was awesome too! We are really happy we found them!

This place is amazing. Natalya is a very professional and compassionate dentist. I got my crown replaced here and it looks perfect. This is definitely my new dentist.

I had the most professional service at Dr Carmichael recently for a deep cleaning. Pablo the Office Manager made sure my new insurance and costs was verified prior to service and the dental hygienist was the best. They treated me very well and they were upfront about everything. I strongly recommend this dentist .

I love this dental office. The road was a little bumpy in feeling like this place was my go to dentist but their customer service totally made up for it.

Went there for my initial exam and cleaning. They refused to do a cleaning and charged my insurance for it. They said instead I needed a deep cleaning and insurance didnt cover it. 500$! I called insurance and it was in fact covered 100%. Not sure who does the insurance, but they were incorrect or purposely committing fraud. Hopefully just incompetent. The dentist also said I needed 4 crowns that would cost 4800 with insurance. I called and they said this was not only covered at 80%, but a 2nd opinion then told me all 4 were cavities. I would suggest getting a 2nd opinion before spending money here and ALWAYS ASK FOR A PRE AUTHORIZATION BEFORE GETTING ANY WORK DONE! THIS IS HOW THEY SCAM EVERYONE.

I left feeling EXTREMELY frustrated with almost the entire office. I was called in early because apparently my crown was ready and I rushed in. While waiting in the office I had to overhear an anti mask conversation between the receptionist husband and daughter. That should been kept private. On top of that, they had the wrong crown...so that means that's two more weeks I have to wait because this office decided to go on vacation. This office is ALL OVER the place. Once my work is done I will not be back 16 minutes was spent talking to Pablo with him 'nervous' laughing at me, and threatening to remove financial considerations if I do not remove my reviews. I am fuming.

Pablo the office manager is great. Quick at figuring out my insurance coverage and helping get best value for the work that I need (without upselling). The dentist office I visited before this one tried to use scare tactics to get me to agree to a crown procedure that I did not need. I've been to Dr. Carmichael's office twice for cleanings, Van is a great dentist. She is patient and was attentive to my discomfort thresholds. When she saw me wince, she took a second, let me gather myself, and carried on. Thanks Van and Pablo. Coming back for fill-ins.

Excellent staff and service.Dr. Carmichael took the time to explain in detail everything needed to get my crown done and fix an issue with my other tooth as well. The dental hygienist Bo also did an excellent job. She made the cleaning relatively pain free. Shout out to Pablo for figuring out my insurance and saving me money during whole process.

Friendly staff and a competent dentist. They work around your schedule and get appointments when others cancel. They have latest equipment in house and good hygienists. Works with most insurances and promotions.

Excellent staff. Was looking for a new dentist and am glad I found this place. Dr. Carmichael took the time to explain in detail everything she was doing and made sure I understood treatment goals. The dental hygienist Bo also did an excellent job. I had a deep cleaning with Bo and she was very detail oriented and made the procedure relatively pain free. Thank you!

Pablo and Mike are awesome at the front desk, they will make sure to get all your insurance stuff right. Dr. Carmichael and the rest of the staff are very courteous and are happy to answer any questions you have. I haven't been to a better dentist.
