Dr.LaurenWidmer is many things: a daughter, a sister, a mother; a lover of sushi and an avid indoor cycler; a little scared of heights and a lover of the beach; she has a great sense of humor and perhaps above all of these other things, she is always smiling.
Dr. Widmer grew up in rural Maryland as the oldest of five children. She excelled in school, and decided at a young age that she wanted to be an Orthodontist more than anything. She attended the University of Maryland at College Park, completing her Bachelors in Neurobiology a year ahead of schedule. She went on to attend the worlds oldest dental school, the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, where she graduated at the top of her class. She was selected to immediately begin her three year advanced training in orthodontics at The University of Maryland, earning her Certificate in Orthodontics and her Masters in Oral Biology. Upon graduating, she began working in a private practice in the Washington DC area while her husband completed his active duty service commitment to the United States Air Force.
After completing their service to the country, the Widmers decided it was time to set up roots somewhere warm. Florida was an obvious choice as Dr. Widmer had family in the Naples area, plus the beautiful beaches and warm people may have also had something to do with it. She and her husband Chris spend their time away from dentistry with their four boys, enjoying all the outdoors has to offer.
Committed to life long learning and constant improvement, Dr. Widmer has chosen to take her education to the highest level by becoming a Board Certified Orthodontist. This is an arduous and voluntary process that an Orthodontist can pursue after graduating from their residency. Once achieved, the demarcation of a Board Certified Orthodontist demonstrates that the bearer of this title has a level of expertise in all aspects of orthodontic care that not many achieve. Dr. Widmer is committed to providing the best care for her patients, and continues to pursue continuing education on the latest techniques available. She cant wait to meet you!
