Dr. Anthony LaVacca is a board-certified prosthodontist who has carved out a place as a leader in implant dentistry. Hes given lectures nationally and internationally on a variety of dental implant topics. Dr. LaVacca earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Temple University. He then completed his residency at East Orange Veterans Hospital, as well as extensive post-graduate prosthodontics training at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Dr. Lidia Ickes, DDS prides herself on delivering compassionate, comprehensive dental care with a strong emphasis on prevention and patient education. She obtained her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry where she graduated with recognition for her academic accomplishments. Before joining our team, she was in private practice in Michigan, treating patients of all ages and dental needs.
Sergio Baron D.D.S is a General Dentist with 25 years of experience. He has developed a passion for pursuing excellence in the profession. He recently completed an AEGD residency at Marquette University School of Dentistry, with a fellowship focus on urgent care and advanced care services for the medically complex patient. His journey through dentistry has inspired him to pursue a teaching faculty position. With the combination of both clinical experience (since 1995) and faculty assistant experience (2017-2019) he developed motivation for education, and because of this he have been privileged to teach the new generation of Dentists.
Dr. John Chae, DDS received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Loma Linda University where he graduated with honors. He completed his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County in Chicago. Hes experienced in the management of facial trauma, odontogenic infections, oral pathology, dental implants, outpatient anesthesia and orthognathic surgery. Dr. Chae is on staff at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.
After graduating dental school, Dr. AlRubaie finished a 2-year residency program in advanced education in general dentistry from Miami, Florida and practiced for 6 years as a general dentist in Illinois and Florida. Afterwards, Dr. AlRubaie joined a 3-year dual degree residency program in Periodontology and Master of Science at Nova Southeastern University/College of Dental medicine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Dr AlRubaie is a board eligible periodontist and has a great passion for his field. Dr AlRubaie did his Master thesis about dental implants and he has published in peer reviewed journals.
Dr. Zak Messieha, DDS is a board-certified dentist anesthesiologist with more than two decades of experience. Hes also the clinical director and president of Office Anesthesiology & Dental Consultants, PC. He received his DDS degree from Ohio State University and did his internship training at the Medical College of Virginia-Virginia Commonwealth University Hospital. His anesthesiology residency was completed at the Long Island Jewish Hospital in New Hyde Park, NY.

After doing his undergraduate studies in accounting at Rutgers University, Dr. LaVacca attended Temple University, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. He then completed a general practice residency at East Orange Veterans Hospital and extensive post-graduate prosthodontics training at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Before starting Naperville Dental Specialists, Dr. LaVacca practiced restorative dentistry with University Associates in Dentistry, implant prosthetic rehabilitation dentistry at the Chicago Center for Advanced Dentistry and advanced restorative dentistry at LaSota & Lee Rockefeller Center Plaza in New York. He was also the director of the general practice residency program and interim director of the postgraduate program in prosthodontics at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he taught as an assistant professor as well.
Dr. LaVacca has received honorary recognitions for his contributions to the field. As a board-certified prosthodontist and a fellow of both the American College of Prosthodontics and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, Dr. LaVacca has given lectures nationally and internationally on a variety of topics and has presented table clinics for the Temple University Alumni Association, the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, the American College of Prosthodontists and the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics. He has also participated in a study focused on bond strengths for veneers.
He maintains memberships with the American College of Prosthodontists, American Dental Association, Academy of Osseointegration and the International Association of Dental Research. Dr. LaVacca even proudly supported the Chicago Blackhawks by providing the team with dental care from 2005-2010 and was affiliated with the team for the Stanley Cup! Go Blackhawks!
Dr. LaVaccas wife, Dr. Manal Ibrahim, is a board-certified orthodontist who owns Innovative Orthodontic Centers. Together, the pair also own Innovative Pediatric Dentistry and an in-house digital lab, Impact Dental. All of the practices fall under their Innovative Dental Partners umbrella, which has allowed them to build a place for patients to move through the timeline of their smile needs. I do the customer service training at my company and I can tell you these folks are absolutely wonderful! From the moment you check in from the time you leave you feel so well cared for. Amazing clinical experience, great 'bedside' manner from Jennifer, the hygienist, who was kind and really thorough. I've had the pleasure of seeing a few of the dentists at this practice and all are great. If you are looking for a dental practice you will want to stay with forever, Naperville Dental Specialists is for you.

Front desk: You often have to wait to be acknowledged. This is not good customer service. The dentist and other technicians or hygienists are friendly usually. However, they are a little rough during treatment. Tools are always hitting other teeth that are not being worked on and on more then one occasion the hygienist has smashed my lip into my tooth and caused a cut. I realize my lip must be moved, but I am sure there is another way to accomplish this. It seems like they are trying to treat too many patients at once and are therefore rushing.

7/6Update-- spoke with Dr. L through FaceTime and he addressed my questions. Had originally given a low rating due to bad experience with scheduling which is separate of course from the value of their dental services--------------------------6/30-I booked an appointment weeks, I want to say over a month in advance to get an implant consultation with someone who has experience with full zirconia implants (alternative to traditional implant)....this was the earliest they had available! I verified with the lady who scheduled me to make sure I was getting in with the right dentist but she was actually a little rude when I asked to make sure it was someone who could talk to me about a full zirconia implant...she was very dismissive and wouldn't double check for me, she just kept saying yes the doctor with talk to you about whatever options you want when you come in. Now that I think back that was probably the first sign I shouldn't be booking here....anyway I finally get to the day of my appointment after switching shifts, driving over an hour, setting up child care etc......only to be booked with someone who does not have knowledge on the subject, wrong dentist....got someone super knowledgeable of course but not on the info I was looking for...

Excellent place for all your dental work. Staff is friendly and professional and flexible. I like the overall cleanliness of the facility and the quickest time to resolve my dental issue. Very family oriented and cool dentists who explained everything to me. Gabbie is awesome; she spends quality time and provides high skills on cleaning every tooth.

Do not go here unless you want to be surprised with a $600 bill for services you received over a year ago! What a scam. I have nothing bad to say about the dentists themselves but their office is a scam. Called to ask why I was billed an unitemized bill for such a large amount and was told that they just updated their database and we had charges that were never covered by insurance from procedures done over a year ago! We always pay our bills and copays, so to receive this out of the blue is absolutely ridiculous. Find another dentist!

5 star to Dr. Lavacca and team. They displayed skill, kindness, and empathy to my dental matter. They made me feel at ease and calmly answered my many questions. 4 star - 1. Long wait. Everyone was apologetic for the delay and the team did not rush during my procedure. Their kindness and caring ways made the delay tolerable. 2. Schedule conflict. Unable to schedule follow-up appointments during my visit. I am confident this hiccup will be resolved in a timely manner. I have been a dental patient at NDS for many years. I have and will continue to refer others to NDS.

Definitely different than anywhere I have been. I was a bit overwhelmed at 1st since I have never been to a dentist with so much activity as it is a pretty big office. I was brought back right away. Jennifer, my Dental Hygienist took care to be very thorough with me. She worked quickly and was very efficient and made sure I was comfortable throughout. I met Dr. Steve and he took time to explain things as well. He also talked with me regarding my teeth grinding and sleep apnea and I will be going back to focus on a mouth device to help alleviate both issues and I let him know I was ready for a new mouth guard as mine is pretty old. Update 1 year later, was told that one of my teeth that the crown had just cracked had to be pulled or root canal done due to not getting numb enough to prep for another crown. Then along comes Dr. Baron! He has taken the time and energy to prep my stump of a tooth (due to my severe anxiety that day, still didn't get fully numb be we pushed through it) and make another crown and I get to keep what's left of my tooth! Thank you Dr. Baron!!!

Nice place and people but I was told I needed some work done and needed a deep cleaning before any of that could occur. Went to get a 2nd opinion cause I had no pain in my teeth. Turns out I didn't need all that work done.
