I was born and raised in San Francisco. I come from a large family that has deep roots in San Francisco. My parents always emphasized family, faith, education, and helping others. I had wanted to become a dentist ever since I was in my teens, this was greatly influenced by my mother who was a nurse in San Francisco for 55 years.
I attended Saint Rose Academy High School, then headed down to Los Angeles for my undergraduate degree, where I graduated from Loyola Marymount University Magna Cum Laude, and received the Presidential Citation Award for Leadership and Service. I then returned to the Bay Area where I attended and graduated from UCSF Dental School with Honors in 1993, and in 1994 completed a Residency Program with the Veterans Administration Hospital in Martinez, California. Following my Residency, I began working as an associate dentist where I practiced general dentistry and gained invaluable experience in the practical aspects of running a private practice. In May of 1998 I bought a general dental practice in San Rafael, California after 7 years I expanded that practice and opened a second practice in Greenbrae, California.
Over the next 21 years, I owned and operated two general practices in Marin county. My husband and I have enjoyed raising our 4 children in Marin, and I have loved my work-life balance. Im involved in multiple philanthropic organizations including Marin Head Start, Adopt a School and Little Sisters of the Poor programs. In 2019 I joined Dr. Hoey in his practice as he moved toward retirement. Like Dr. Hoey, I have always made it my goal to provide highly personalized care and to utilize the most advanced technology, materials, and procedures available in dentistry today. I use CEREC 3D design and printing to make same day crowns. I look forward to getting to know each of you as I provide your dental care.
In September of 2020 my youngest child left for college, and my husband and I decided the time was right to move full time to our home here in Napa. It is a joy to begin this newest chapter in our lives and my career living and working full time in the Napa Valley.

Caitlyn is Dr. Burkes enthusiastic, competent and caring dental assistant. She has recently graduated from University of Mississippi and is pursuing a career in dental hygiene. She and Dr. Burke are an excellent team and work seamlessly together. Caitlyns bright smile and caring personality makes her the perfect addition to our team.

A great team and a great experience. This was my first visit to this office and I received great service from the front desk(Cheryl), from the hygienist (Pat) and from Dr Burke as well. Every person greeted me with a smile, even Kit, the dog, was friendly. And once you listen to Dr Burke summarize your situation, you realize that you are in great hands with her in charge. Deirdre Burke and the entire team ensure that your teeth -and you as a person - get the best of care. Dr. Burke is extremely thorough, attentive, technical and sensitive. My husband and I appreciate her precise explanations of procedures, and the extra care she takes to reassure you about them. As soon as you step through the door, Cheryl makes you feel welcome, like visiting a friend. She is also very organized, running the office very efficiently, with alerts for upcoming appointments, flexibility in making/changing appointments, etc.

I was cautious as Dr. Hoey retired and the practice went to a "New Dentist", I'm a white knuckle patient always... so I had to go, finally, and how delighted I am is absolutely evident with my new whiter smile and healthier dental overall assessment. Came here for a 2nd opinion and stayed. Great dentist. I really appreciate that he has modern gear so he can make custom crowns and such on the CEREC machine and put it in during the same visit instead of having to get a temporary and coming back for a 2nd visit.
