She is an artist inside and outside the mouth and has won acclaim for her lithographs, watercolors and jewelry. She and her husband have 3 children, 40 mountain acres, 4 horses (3 Arabs and 1 Thoroughbred), a dog, a cat, chickens and a large garden (by the most recent census). Her son, Devin Bernhardt joined the practice after graduating from the UCSF School of Dentistry.
Dr. Benedict cans chutney and preserves every fall. She is an inveterate jogger, swimmer and volunteers on the Horse Patrol for Wilder State Park. She can be found there once a week, look for her riding in her uniform!
Dr. Devin Bernhardt grew up in Santa Cruz and attended Harbor High School before finishing his undergraduate studies at UC San Diego. He then graduated from the UCSF School of Dentistry just like his mom, Dr. Benedict.
Dr. Bernhardt has participated in many dental humanitarian missions around the world including traveling with his mom and family to Guatemala, Ecuador, Haiti and most recently Uganda. He has worked with the US Navy, Rotary Club, Los Medicos Voladoras (The Flying Doctors) and For World Wide Smiles to help deliver dental and medical care to the under-served in other countries.

I was charged treatment fees in a false and misleading manner. I was given an estimate for services by the front desk that showed an 80% coverage by my insurance for fillings. When the services were carried out and I received my bill after, coverage was significantly lower and the bill was 70% more. The insurance provider's Explanation of Benefit shows 80% of this service is covered but a customer service rep stated that there is 80% coverage only for a cheaper silver enamel while Nannette Benedict DDS & Associates used a more expensive white enamel without my knowledge. My expectations were set with their estimation that quoted a certain amount but then was given a significantly higher bill only after services were carried out. This feels like a predatory practice where both the insurance provider and dental office are taking advantage of a grey area that ends up putting patients in a financial hole. Is it specified that there are two types of enamel when the dental office gets an estimate of insurance coverage? Why should it be the patient's responsibility to take on the financial burden of a flaw in the communication between the Dental Office and the Insurance Provider? While I am satisfied with the dental work I received and the initial willingness of the office manager to work with me on financing their mistake, the end result was the office still trying to get $165 from me, an international student, despite admitting that the situation is unfair. On a higher level, I want dental offices to communicate coverage estimates with insurance providers on their own instead of pushing problems to the consumer, someone who is not equipped or qualified to deal with the technicalities of insurance coverage. I also want dental offices to inform patients about their choice to only offer non-required types of material that they know might not be covered by insurance.

I have been a patient here for a couple of years but I had the most wonderful dental experience with Dr Le a few weeks ago which prompted me to write this review. Dr Le is such a kind person. You can tell she genuinely cares about her patients! She is calm & professional & I would highly recommend her. The receptionists are friendly & the office is also really clean.

I cannot say enough about this office! I have terrible anxiety when going to the dentist and this office has helped me feel less anxious with each visit. And that is because of the People who work there ! Where do I start!? Every time I enter I'm greeted with a huge smile and made to feel very welcomed by both Chloe and Mikayla. They are both so sweet, professional and always have smiles on their faces. Which helps someone like me feel a lot better about going to the dentist Right off the bat! Which is so rare anymore. And then there's Shanna...Shanna is absolutely amazing at what she does. She too is kind sweet and professional but has changed my life with going to the dentist. She goes out of her way to make sure I'm comfortable, makes sure I understand exactly what's happening and takes her time to answer all my questions. I never feel rushed here or like I'm just another patient. They make you feel like you are the only patient they are seeing and that your needs are important and they take their time to do good work! I seriously cannot say enough about them.

I love this dentist office!!! I've always hated to go to the dentist, but not any more. Dr. Benedict and Dr. Bernhardt do amazing work and they are both so kind and caring. In addition, the hygienists are top quality and all of the receptionists and other staff are great.

There are a lot of precautions in place on account of the virus, and as always this is a great dental office, everyone is super friendly and they have ultra-modern equipment, they are also very professional!

Everyone I have interacted with , from front desk to Dr Benedict, from Shauna to Dr Gifford has been wonderful. I switched from a dentist I had for over 20 years and I could not be happier. I was pleased and impressed at not having any swelling or bruising or pain after oral surgery. I recommend this place whole heartedly.
