After caring for patients as a registered dental assistant for 15 years in the Bay Area, I decided to go back to school to become a registered dental hygienist (RDH). I graduated from the Fresno City College Hygiene program in 2014. I am passionate about making a difference in our patients dental health by providing a professional level of dental care and education. I'm always delighted when patients return with improved oral health and a smile on their face.
I enjoy spending my free time with my son, daughter and husband. I also like traveling, shopping and entertaining families and friends by having hosting fun gatherings. I recently picked up a new hobby, learning how to cook! Right now, I'm happy if the food turns out edible. I always appreciate getting tips and tricks from my patients.
Mary has worked in the dental field for over 30 years, she started her career as a front desk coordinator in a one operatory practice. She has worked at Dr. Shibas office since 2012, where shes loved getting to know the patients. She is the first face a patient will see when they walk into the office and patients soon come to realize that she is always smiling and ready to help. Mary not only ensures patients treatment and scheduling questions are answered, but she also coordinates dental insurance plans to ensure patients are maximizing their benefits, saving them time and money.
In Marys spare time, she enjoys attending country concerts, cooking, and gardening. Now that her two children are adults, Mary loves escaping to the central coast beaches with her two pups, Peanut and Buttercup.
Leighann has been in the dental field for 19 years and joined Dr. Shibas team in 2017. She is a helpful team member, who has experience in both assisting and administrative roles. It is very rewarding for her to help in all facets of the office while helping her patients with their smiles.
I attended UC Berkeley and received a biochemistry undergraduate degree. I then continued at UC San Diego with a Masters degree in bioengineering. From there, I went to UC San Francisco for my Doctor of Dental Surgery/DDS degree. I am a proud UCSF dental alumnus and know that my education there provided a firm foundation for the continuing many changes in dentistry.
I dedicate myself to a high level of continuing education that far exceeds what is required for license renewal. My motivation is so that I may listen to my patients needs and educate them on their treatment options. Most importantly, though, I value the long-term relationships that my team and I have with our patients.
I strive to understand your health goals so that I can create a custom treatment plan just for you. I am a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), California Dental Association (CDA), Santa Clara County Dental Society (SCCDS), and a San Jose Spear Study Club. I am a certified Bioclear provider.

Dr. Nancy Shiba and her staff continue to provide great health care service. My latest appointment was for a cleaning and a couple cavities which went very well. Their attention to my health is greatly appreciated including recommendations for improving my dental and overall health/lifestyle...they're all connected!

Dr Shiba and crew are phenomenal. With every visit I'm greeted with a friendly welcome, treated like a friend rather than a patient, and all my questions are answered before I even ask them. I've been coming to Dr Shiba for over 10 years now and I would not go anywhere else! All of my family are now going to Dr Shiba as well and enjoy their experience just as much as I do. Dr. Shiba has been the only dentist for my family for more than 30 years. She has always taken care of our dental health, addressing the small issues so that they never become major ones. She stays up to date on the latest technologies and incorporates the good ones into her practice. Since Covid, her office has gone above and beyond to protect us and her staff. Thank you.

This was my first visit back to Dr. Shiba's office since Covid-19 shutdown. I have to admit I was a bit nervous but her office went above and beyond the safety protocols. They were dressed in full PPE, double masks, and a face shield. There were air purifiers everywhere as well has a machine to clear the aerosols from the air. There were temperature checks upon entering and health form that you needed to fill out. I have been going to Dr. Shiba's dental practice for over 20 years. She is the best for safety and quality of work. Give her a visit. You won't be disappointed.
