A prosthodontist is a dentist who is a specialist in the restoration and replacement of teeth. Extensive training and education provide prosthodontists with the skills for restoring optimum function and esthetics to your smile. The treatments include: crowns, bridges, veneers, inlays, complete and removable partial dentures, dental implants, TMD-jaw joint problems, traumatic injuries to the mouths structures and/or teeth, snoring and sleep disorders and oral cancer reconstruction and continuing care.

Our philosophy of dental treatment is to restore the mouth in a way that preserves the remaining structures. We believe that most treatments can be structured so that anyone can afford to have the best that modern dentistry has to offer.
Dr. Nancy Chaffee received her general dentistry training at the University of Iowa in 1985. After practicing for three years as a general dentist, she returned to the University of Iowa and received her prosthodontic specialty training and Masters degree in 1990. In 1993, she was certified by the American Board of Prosthodontics.
In 2001, Dr. Chaffee left full-time academics for private practice in Cary, NC and was the first Board certified prosthodontist in the Cary/Apex area. In 2006, she opened her own private prosthodontic practice in Cary.
She has been an active member of the American Dental Association, the American College of Prosthodontists, and the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics. She has served on the American Dental Associations National Board Test Construction Committee which composed the examination taken by every licensed dentist in the United States. She has also served as a Delegate and on numerous committees for the American College of Prosthodontists, the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics as well as Chair of the Prosthodontic Group of the American and International Associations for Dental Research. She also serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistryand theJournal of Prosthodontics, where she reviews manuscripts outlining the latest in dental research focused on prosthodontics. In 2014 she served as the Program Chair for the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics Annual Session.
Dentistry and prosthodontics are highly complex and rapidly changing. Dr. Chaffee is committed to continuing her education so she can provide the latest techniques in prosthodontics. Dr. Chaffee participates in numerous continuing education courses to stay up-to-date on the latest research in dentistry. In addition to taking courses, she also lectures nationally to provide continuing education to others so that they may better care for their patients.

I came to Dr. Chaffee after my regular dentist tried to convince me that I needed $9000 worth of crowns. Dr. Chaffee did a thorough exam and we came up with a different treatment plan. I couldn't be happier with my experience there. She even met me after hours one time because of an emergency and she didn't want me to be in pain. Everyone there is very caring and they all make you feel welcome. Great choice in music too.

I took my 88 year old mom to Dr. Chaffee as she was having gum irritation from her dentures. My mom isn't in a position to pay for a new set of dentures, and we appreciated Dr. Chaffee's conservative approach. Thankfully, she was able to keep what she has, and Dr. Chaffee made some modifications to relieve my mom's pain. She did a thorough examination, made the adjustments, polished and cleaned the dentures. We were very pleased. Thank you!

I have been seeing Dr Chaffee for a few years now. I had a very complicated case with all kinds of curve balls. She is extremely talented and simply excellent at what she does. If you want a perfectionist that will do the job right look no farther. She has always been prompt for our appointments. Also I get lots of compliments on my beautiful smile.
