Dr. Selen Tolu has been a native of the Greenbelt community for over 30 years. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland College Park and continued to pursue her doctoral degree at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, where she graduated with the Deans Award of Excellence.
Dr. Tolu is committed to continuing education so that she may provide the most current and optimal treatment for her patients. Upon graduation, she completed the prestigious Comprehensive Implantology Continuum at the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine where she received extensive training in implant placement and restoration. She continues to receive implant training at the University of Maryland. She is a certified Invisalign provider and is a member of the Academy of Laser Dentistry. Dr. Tolu is certified in laser dentistry which allows for the most minimally invasive treatment options.
Dr. Tolu is an active member in the dental community. She is a board member for the Greater Washington Association of Women Dentists (GWAWD) and is a member for the American Dental Association (ADA). As an Albert Schweitzer fellow, Dr. Tolu is committed to contributing back to her community. She volunteers for Mission of Mercy, Team Smile, Give Kids a Smile Day, House of Ruth, Special Olympics, and many other national and local charity events.
Dr. Huesmann grew up in Maryland, a stones throw from Greenbelt in Howard County, MD. She attended the University of Maryland where she earned her bachelors degree in microbiology. She continued on to attend Howard University College of Dentistry in nearby Washington DC, where she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.
Dr. Huesmann has continued to pursue additional training and continuing education through a variety of hands-on and classroom based courses, including becoming an Invisalign certified provider. In her spare time she enjoys reading and improving her skills in sewing, drawing, and painting.
Dr. Tolu is very fortunate to have the ability to give back to her local community. She is dedicated to helping the youngest members of the community learn how to care for their dental health, andvolunteers for several organizations, including, but not limited to:

I would highly recommend this place if your looking for a dentist. The staff have a great attitude. Will help with any information that is needed for you appointment. The doctor is all so amazing. Love the vibe. Will be going back.

Love going to Dr. Tolu! Her and her staff are so amazing and every one is so kind. Every time I go it's a great experience and she does excellent work, overall she makes me really want to put my teeth as a top priority, which really wasn't the case before her.

I'm very particular when it comes to my teeth . I have a very low pain tolerance and haven't had the best experiences when it comes to dental work. After coming across MyGreenbeltDentist , I'm happy to say that I will forever be a patient here . I started with a couple cleanings and they were understanding of my needs and very professional . I needed some cosmetic work done and was considering going out of country. After a consultation with Dr. Tolu, I decided to stay in the country and get my implant and crowns here. She did an amazing job and not only myself, but my friends and family love the way they turned out . After 10 years of needing work , I finally got it done and couldn't be happier . This place is simply the best ! Staff is amazing! Wait times are non existent! State of the art equipment! And the overall environment is impeccable! I will be coming here for all future work!

LONG POST ALERT: I don't know why it has taken me this long to write this review...However, I have been a patient since I chipped my tooth a couple of weeks before a wedding I was an attendant in back in July 2018. Worse off my tooth chipped before the 4th of July holiday. Dr. Tolu was heaven sent. I called her office got a same day appointment. She fixed my fractured tooth, gave me a treatment plan & I have been a patient every since. I received notice that beginning January 2022, the office no longer participated with my insurance. I called to find out what my options were & to my surprise I was told current patients would be allowed to remain under her care. That shows amazing patient care and empathy to those of us who have been scammed, hurt or have PTSD from horrible dentists. So with that being said, I had to write this review to sing her praises & I realized it's about patient care not just about money for this wonderful dental practice.

The best dentist ever. I really felt being cared and helped here. Everyone is so friendly and nice. The environment is clean and cozy. I had my deep cleaning, a couple of filling and a root canal done here. Everything went so well. Thank you all!

Hands down the best Dentist, Hygienists and Office Manager and right hand woman front desk staff ever! So clean and profession. DR. TOLU is the best. Cannot put it anybetter than this. Their treatment plans are reasonable and encouraged only when necessary. I have been a patient here since 2020 and cannot believe I'm only just now reviewing. Sometimes a place is so good you forget to let everyone else know. You will not be remiss in visiting this office.

After my dentist stopped taking my insurance, I found My Greenbelt Dentist through a friend and I am so impressed with this practice! I saw Dr. Huesmann and she was thorough and very helpful to explain how to care for my aging teeth. She was upfront about my options and helped me make my own decisions. I'll be going back!

I certainly never write reviews but the staff at My Greenbelt Dentist are phenomenal. From always offering a kind greeting to getting you to your procedure in a timely manner they offer excellent care. Due to my treatment type I have been treated by Dr Tolu on numerous occasions and she is patient and very gentle. I can tell she truly enjoys what she does. I would highly recommend!

I did not enjoy my experience at this establishment. I called beforehand to ask if they offered braces and Invisalign. The lady I spoke to told me they offered both, two times. I came to the appointment and was talking about braces with the workers and no one corrected me all they said was "okay, that's fine". At the end, the front desk said they only offered Invisalign and that no one said they offered braces. Although I continued to say that the lady on the phone told me they did twice. They became very defensive towards me and being very rude. They started asking very rude question like if I knew how to speak English and understand it. Even after I spoke with the workers in English. I will not be coming back because they lie to their customers, discriminate against them, and deny it without any type of apology.

I've been going to My Greenbelt Dentist for almost 3 years and it's about time I sing their praises. As I just finished my very lengthy treatment plan. State of the art equipment, pleasant, polite, and professional staff from the front to the back. Knowledgeable, gentle, and they communicate very clearly while they are working in one of the most sensitive parts of the human anatomy. Kudos to Dr. Tolu and staff for many jobs well done.

My Greenbelt Dentist is simply the best!!!!! My experience was absolutely awesome! I am very hesitant when it comes to visiting the dentist, but I must say the team made my visits welcoming, comfortable and memorable. Dr. Tolu and Maylene were simply amazing! Professional, pleasant and patient are the words that come to mind. They answered all my questions and explained everything that was being done. The front desk staff are personable, caring and attentive. It is felt front the time you walk in the door. If you are reluctant or have had unpleasant experiences with the dentist in the past.
