With the support of our Board of Directors and Advisory Board, we are working together as diverse network of partners and and advocates to enhance community health by offering access to quality dental care for all.
Steve joined the board in 2016. He is currently the Health Officer for the Central Michigan District Health Department. Previous to this, he served as the Interim Health Officer and Environmental Health Director for the Jackson County District Health Department. He earned his bachelors degree from Ferris State University and his masters degree from Independence University, California College of Health Sciences. He resides in the central Michigan area with his wife and two daughters.
Phyllis joined the board in 2016. She is the Senior Fellow and Advisor for The Kresge Foundations Health Team. Her professional experience includes serving as the Associate Dean for Public Health Practice and Clinical ProfessorHealth Management and Policy for the University of Michigan School of Public Health. She holds both a bachelor and master of science degree in nursing and a PhD in sociology from Wayne State University.
Jerry joined the board in 2017. He is the Administrative Health Officer for the Marquette County Health Department. Jerry holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration-Accounting from Michigan Technological University and a Masters of Public Administration from Northern Michigan University. He received a Graduate Certificate in Public Health from Michigan State University in May 2017.
Denise joined the board in 2013. She served as Associate Dean for Government Relations and Outreach at Michigan State University. She also served as Director of the Plan Administration and Customer Services Bureau for the Medical Services Administration within the Michigan Department of Community Health. Denise is retired and resides in Boyne City with her husband, Steve.
Ron joined the board in 2016. He has extensive experience in the areas of legislative and political/fundraising strategy. Ron also spent several years as the Director of Marketing & New Business with a Michigan-based, nationally recognized real estate operating company before going back to Lansing where he joined a multi-client lobbying firm. Today, he is owner of the lobbying and public affairs firm Khoury Johnson Leavitt.
Jason joined the board in early 2019. He is Vice President of Health Finance at Michigan Health & Hospital Association and a demonstrated leader with nearly 20 years of healthcare expertise. Jason has focused on research, program evaluation, data analysis, financial modeling, strategic planning, policy development, and program implementation. His experience spans public programs and commercial insurance.
Sue joined the board in 2019. She has over thirty years of experience in health policy and program administration in both the public and private sectors. She retired from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services in September 2018, where she served as the Director of the Population Health Administration. Sue also was the Director of the Medicaid Program Operations Bureau at the Michigan Department of Community Health. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Public Health.
Bill joined the board in 2019. He retired as the Director/Health Officer of the Health Department of Macomb County in December of 2020. For over 30 years, Bill hasdevoted his career to the service of public health. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Wayne State University, a Master of Public Health from the University of Minnesota, in addition to a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition from the University of Michigan.
Our nonprofit dental centers partner with local health departments to offer the best in patient-centered, full-service care from regular checkups and cleanings to ongoing treatments. These valued partnerships allow MCDC to serve nearly 88,000 patients at 34 dental centers throughout Michigan annually.

Great staff called me and got me into a canceled appointment. Dental hygienist Becky was very good and helped me with questions on my treatment plan. Dr Butzin was very friendly and I feel very comfortable as a patient

Tried making an appointment for an urgent tooth extraction and was told you would have to wait a year. We sure miss Dr.Weikum!

I'm so disappointed in MCDC . They made me and my driver all the way from auburn Michigan to not get the dental care I need because of the receptionist/ lady scheduler didn't observe my chart well enough with the dentist . The dentist wouldn't touch my mouth because of " my x Ray was almost a year old " . WTH ??? I came there to the dental care I needed not to drive there and leave with no care which happened sadly . Don't go to them !

The ladies are great. Always very nice and welcoming. I gave a 1 star because of the current dentist. I've been going here for a few years now, always shown respect and kindness. The current dentist acts as if I'm a waste of his time. He has never introduced himself. Treated me like I was ignorant. Talked down to me. I felt dismissed and unheard. He seemed annoyed and not wanting to be there. I've had to go in for this issue a couple other times over the years and the dentist was always very nice, fixed the problem and I was on my way, happy and in no more pain. Unfortunately the current dentist messed up my denture and now I'm in more pain than before the appointment ( having a harder time eating now than before I went to him ) and I have to live with it for the next 4 months until they go in for a realignment because I refuse to put myself through that again...

This is a good dentist. I just hate the fact that you have to wait almost a year to have dental work done. If you have an emergency with your teeth they always say they don't have any openings for that day and they don't make an effort to try to work you into the schedule. The lady gone tell me that they can treat the patient for pain and infection but it is not no guarantee that any extractions can be done that day.

Totally awesome! I was there a little earlier than I was suppose to be, but they was able to get me in, numb my mouth, within minutes, my tooth was out and I was on my way! I even thanked the dentist for not only pulling the tooth, but for seeing me a little earlier! Thanks My Community Dental Center...can't wait for my teeth to get cleaned by you in 3 days!

I'd love to rate the ladies that work there with 5 stars. They are phenomenal and kind. The dentist, however seems to hate his job, his coworkers, his patients, and even teeth. He refused to do any kind of work on my teeth after I had had a treatment plan with the previous dentist, telling me to find an oral surgeon instead. Zero help. Super rude, super callous. It would be such a great facility sans the dentist.

Had to wait a year to get in, the laadies are nice and are very quick. Also after a year of waiting, I got there and had teeth polish flung in my eye by mistake. 10/10, still better than most places I go too. Edit: Going to also state I got there this morning as of 6/28/22 and they did a fantastic job with informative explanations on their prodecures. As well as fixed my messed up composite filling I had from a previous dentist. Everyone should go here, it's worth the wait.

I haven't had a good experience while trying to change my care from one state to another. Today I was excited to go to the dentist to only have felt stupid to go to the dentist. It's a shame sometimes with how some of us have to deal with bad experienced because some of these people are tired and hate where they work. It sucks. I will never come back to this Dentist. I would rate it a one but the ladies that helped me sign in were very nice. Dr was assuming and never asked questions. Didn't care to introduce himself to a new patient. Will drive to Mt. Pleasant for a better Dentist.

This place is amazing, I called two other locations that didn't have an appointment until Jan. The receptionist went way out of her way to get me in. The visit was great, I didn't feel judged and the nurse in the back treated me well. This place ran like an oiled machine

Fast and friendly first-time experience. I was taken right in for my scheduled appointment and was back out in 1 hour. A thorough exam was completed and staff were informative and friendly.

I have been going to My Community Dental Center in Saginaw for 1 year. The office staff are very kind and professional. I have been very happy with the all the services they have provided me. The wait for appointment availability can be long but they often have cancellations and can get you in much sooner. Overall I couldn't be happier with my experience
