With the support of our Board of Directors and Advisory Board, we are working together as diverse network of partners and and advocates to enhance community health by offering access to quality dental care for all.
Steve joined the board in 2016. He is currently the Health Officer for the Central Michigan District Health Department. Previous to this, he served as the Interim Health Officer and Environmental Health Director for the Jackson County District Health Department. He earned his bachelors degree from Ferris State University and his masters degree from Independence University, California College of Health Sciences. He resides in the central Michigan area with his wife and two daughters.
Phyllis joined the board in 2016. She is the Senior Fellow and Advisor for The Kresge Foundations Health Team. Her professional experience includes serving as the Associate Dean for Public Health Practice and Clinical ProfessorHealth Management and Policy for the University of Michigan School of Public Health. She holds both a bachelor and master of science degree in nursing and a PhD in sociology from Wayne State University.
Jerry joined the board in 2017. He is the Administrative Health Officer for the Marquette County Health Department. Jerry holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration-Accounting from Michigan Technological University and a Masters of Public Administration from Northern Michigan University. He received a Graduate Certificate in Public Health from Michigan State University in May 2017.
Denise joined the board in 2013. She served as Associate Dean for Government Relations and Outreach at Michigan State University. She also served as Director of the Plan Administration and Customer Services Bureau for the Medical Services Administration within the Michigan Department of Community Health. Denise is retired and resides in Boyne City with her husband, Steve.
Ron joined the board in 2016. He has extensive experience in the areas of legislative and political/fundraising strategy. Ron also spent several years as the Director of Marketing & New Business with a Michigan-based, nationally recognized real estate operating company before going back to Lansing where he joined a multi-client lobbying firm. Today, he is owner of the lobbying and public affairs firm Khoury Johnson Leavitt.
Jason joined the board in early 2019. He is Vice President of Health Finance at Michigan Health & Hospital Association and a demonstrated leader with nearly 20 years of healthcare expertise. Jason has focused on research, program evaluation, data analysis, financial modeling, strategic planning, policy development, and program implementation. His experience spans public programs and commercial insurance.
Sue joined the board in 2019. She has over thirty years of experience in health policy and program administration in both the public and private sectors. She retired from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services in September 2018, where she served as the Director of the Population Health Administration. Sue also was the Director of the Medicaid Program Operations Bureau at the Michigan Department of Community Health. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Public Health.
Bill joined the board in 2019. He retired as the Director/Health Officer of the Health Department of Macomb County in December of 2020. For over 30 years, Bill hasdevoted his career to the service of public health. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Wayne State University, a Master of Public Health from the University of Minnesota, in addition to a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition from the University of Michigan.
Our nonprofit dental centers partner with local health departments to offer the best in patient-centered, full-service care from regular checkups and cleanings to ongoing treatments. These valued partnerships allow MCDC to serve nearly 88,000 patients at 34 dental centers throughout Michigan annually.

I was a walk-in patient with excruciating pain in my tooth, I had no appointment and never been there before. They took me right in, like I had been a patient for a while. Very little wait time! Excellent Staff and DDS. I would highly recommend them to anyone. Thanks for your time and help, it was greatly appreciated.

Visited My Community Dental Centers ~ Monroe today for a filling. The staff are a pleasure to visit. The Dental Assistant put a numbing gel on my gum which made the shot painless. The dentist made sure I was comfortable while filling my tooth. Great experience for me and I would recommend them to anyone that needs dental work. Update: had my teeth cleaned today 10/27/22 it was another great experience, hygienist was great along with the staff.

Every one at the dental center is so kind and caring. The doctor explains everything she is going to do. The center is very clean with state if the art equipment. My overall experience had been great each time I come in for procedures. The staff is the best!

Edited**I WENT TODAY was told in the phone after 8 CAVITIES already being filled they wanted to pull the only tooth holding my other 2false teeth in!!!!!!! THAT WAS NOT PART OF THE PLAN! I TOOK OFF WORK 4TIMES NOW MISSED MY FIANCE IN SURGERY TODAY JUST TO HUSTLE THERE & BE TOLD THEY'RE DOING AN EXTACTION...NO THEY ARE NOT!!!!! IM VERY DISAPPOINTED & WILL GLADLY START OVER WITH A NEW DENTIST...I JUMPED THRU EVERY HOOP JUST TO BE TOLD THEY WANT TO PULL A TOOTH AFTER 8 FILLINGS...THIS IS TERRIBLE NOT TO THD ONGOING PAIN FROM THEIR CAVITIES THEY FILLED...ID NEVER GO BACK IF I were YOU!

I was very impressed with the staff and office. The staff was super polite and helpful and the office seemed to have the latest and greatest in dental machines, etc.

Took my 3 year old who can't sit still more then two seconds and also isn't a fan of brushing his teeth in today. The hygienist was amazing, super nice and was so good with him. Also the dentist was great and came in as fast as he could so my little guy didn't have to wait long. I was nervous about taking him thinking he wouldn't want anything to do with it but they were so friendly and great with him. He even thanked them before we left. Highly recommend.
