Steve joined the board in 2016. He is currently the Health Officer for the Central Michigan District Health Department. Previous to this, he served as the Interim Health Officer and Environmental Health Director for the Jackson County District Health Department. He earned his bachelors degree from Ferris State University and his masters degree from Independence University, California College of Health Sciences. He resides in the central Michigan area with his wife and two daughters.
Phyllis joined the board in 2016. She is the Senior Fellow and Advisor for The Kresge Foundations Health Team. Her professional experience includes serving as the Associate Dean for Public Health Practice and Clinical ProfessorHealth Management and Policy for the University of Michigan School of Public Health. She holds both a bachelor and master of science degree in nursing and a PhD in sociology from Wayne State University.
Jerry joined the board in 2017. He is the Administrative Health Officer for the Marquette County Health Department. Jerry holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration-Accounting from Michigan Technological University and a Masters of Public Administration from Northern Michigan University. He received a Graduate Certificate in Public Health from Michigan State University in May 2017.
Denise joined the board in 2013. She served as Associate Dean for Government Relations and Outreach at Michigan State University. She also served as Director of the Plan Administration and Customer Services Bureau for the Medical Services Administration within the Michigan Department of Community Health. Denise is retired and resides in Boyne City with her husband, Steve.
Ron joined the board in 2016. He has extensive experience in the areas of legislative and political/fundraising strategy. Ron also spent several years as the Director of Marketing & New Business with a Michigan-based, nationally recognized real estate operating company before going back to Lansing where he joined a multi-client lobbying firm. Today, he is owner of the lobbying and public affairs firm Khoury Johnson Leavitt.
Jason joined the board in early 2019. He is Vice President of Health Finance at Michigan Health & Hospital Association and a demonstrated leader with nearly 20 years of healthcare expertise. Jason has focused on research, program evaluation, data analysis, financial modeling, strategic planning, policy development, and program implementation. His experience spans public programs and commercial insurance.
Sue joined the board in 2019. She has over thirty years of experience in health policy and program administration in both the public and private sectors. She retired from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services in September 2018, where she served as the Director of the Population Health Administration. Sue also was the Director of the Medicaid Program Operations Bureau at the Michigan Department of Community Health. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Public Health.
Bill joined the board in 2019. He retired as the Director/Health Officer of the Health Department of Macomb County in December of 2020. For over 30 years, Bill hasdevoted his career to the service of public health. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Wayne State University, a Master of Public Health from the University of Minnesota, in addition to a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition from the University of Michigan.
Our nonprofit dental centers partner with local health departments to offer the best in patient-centered, full-service care from regular checkups and cleanings to ongoing treatments. These valued partnerships allow MCDC to serve nearly 88,000 patients at 34 dental centers throughout Michigan annually.

I have waited for a year for my dentures. A process that I was told would take 2-4 months from start to finish. It's been a year. They canceled my appointments multiple times saying they didn't have a dentist in the office, even though I scheduled the appointment specifically for when the dentist would be there and took the day off work for these appointments. I am a very understanding person, I know things happen. But Today was the last straw. While ON MY WAY to the office at 730 this morning, they called to cancel my 8 am appointment, saying again, no dentist in the office, so I couldn't take delivery of my dentures. I've been living with NO TEETH for a year. I have taken today off work, I have scheduled family portraits that I've put off for over a year because I wanted my teeth to be fixed first....and now I'm just sitting here in tears. With no idea when I will get my teeth. I even called last Friday to confirm my dentures had been delivered so I didn't get my hopes up for nothing. A wasted day off work, and money wasted on family portraits that won't happen. I am beyond devastated. There are no other options for adults with Medicaid besides this office and I feel like they take advantage of that and are extremely unprofessional. I'm convinced It's only a lack of other options that brings people into this office, because my experience personally and with my older daughters has been terrible from start to finish. Talking to the receptionist through tears while she laughs at me for crying is NOT how I imagined spending this day.

Mcdc was very professional and good at there work they did, made me feel very comfortable awnsered all my questions staff was polite next appointment is in December.

Prompt, Polite, and Professional. Today was a great visit with the dentist and staff at MCDC. Everyone was knowledgeable about my problems. All in all I will recommend MCDC to my friends and family. Special Thanks To Jen 1 for the great work during my cleaning and exam today!!

Margie deserves 5 stars..I'm not so sure about the actual dentist but the girl who gave me xrays was the fastest I have had.. awesome job..I think the dentist is extract happy..he would rather pull your teeth than treat them...I know my teeth aren't great but they still work..and for that I need to have another opinion ...Thank you Margie for being so sweet and making me feel comfortable..she's a keeper!!

I haven't seen a dentist in over 20 years and I found myself with 3 teeth that needed exstraction... I was nervous nervous to say the least, but the staff and the DR. We're amazin g! They fit me in to there very busy schedual they were amazing and even though the procedure was painful it was better than I could have exspected. Thank you so much for helping me and taking away all my pain..... I recommend them very highly.... I can't wait to go back again... They treated me with respect and I felt like I have been going there for years!!! I give them 100 out of 100

Very friendly sweet staff. They dont make you feel less of a person because its for lower income families. Very clean office and updated. Drs are very knowledgeable and honest with their abilities for surgery. Recommendations are made. Very happy to have been seen here.

My daughter came in for her very first dentist appointment and at first it seemed like it was going well, but she is only 3 and she was nervous and very reserved. She didn't want to open her mouth sometimes and after a few times of that the hygientist started getting noticeably annoyed with my daughter. She eventually forced her way into my daughters mouth. The dentist came in and even though he was nice he forced her mouth open as well. By the end of this app my daughter was completely traumatized and kicking and screaming. I have no clue if that is routine for how dentists deal with children who aren't comfortable with their first teeth cleaning, as she is my first child, but I left there and cried the entire way home. I felt violated, I felt my daughters comfort was violated, and the obvious annoyance hygienist was extremely frustrating. I should have taken my daughter and left at the beginning of the app when things started going south, but I had high hopes that they would get better. I hope my daughters experience with the dentist isn't completely scarred for the future.
